  1. +++ on 30 min. being too generous 10 maybe 15 at the most.

We would be too embarrassed to sit down even 10 min late. It has NEVER happened in 16 cruises, always on time or just a little early.

Ditto.... I would be embarrassed to go 10 minutes late. Totally disrespectful. I feel like if I ever did lose track of time and run late to dinner, I would never expect to be served late. However, if I was 10 or 15 minutes late, I would duck my head in to advise our table that we were unable to attend that night, so they would not be left waiting and wondering if we were going to be coming. Anyone that can not make their dining time twice in a row should be moved to Anytime Dining (if possible) and taken off the 'booked' dining time, since they are choosing Anytime dining and using the wrong dining room! I don't know why people that are chronically late don't just use ATD. That's what it's for... people that have 'late lunches'...and not sure when they will be hungry next. I'd never just wait 30 mins to go to a 6:00 dining because 'I wasn't hungry yet!". In fact,...I'm usually not, but I go on time (early) anyways.

  2. I'm just so addicted to Carnival!!! :D (I haven't sailed any other line, so can never compare one line to another - I've had no reason yet to ever attempt another cruise line). I feel so fortunate to have opportunities to cruise. Going on a cruise was my life dream trip. Finally, it came true for our 25th wedding anniversary. ;) My husband and I went on our first cruise. I had to convince him to go. He didn't care to Cruise. :o Now he too is addicted. Sadly, being from Nova Scotia Canada, the airfare often costs us more than the Cruise (not to mention the bad exchange rate the last 2 -3 years!). We managed to cruise once a year since then, (except 2016). We have the chance to go on only a 4 day Bahama Cruise for 2017. It will be too short, I'm sure. But that will be our only complaint. We were recently changed from our original Valor to the Liberty. Same class of ship. NO concern to us at all. Same cabin, same itinerary. It's all good! There have been a lot of disgruntled posts concerning the ship swap. I just can't wrap my head around all the nonsense posts! We're still going on a cruise and it's still going to be a blast! Never have I seen workers, such a diverse group of people, 100's of nationalities, all working together with such teamwork, always smiling, always polite, always helpful; putting in long long days and nights! It's very unique! I see a lot of posters saying how Carnival 'doesn't care' for cruise critic. Sometimes I'll read a post and totally understand Carnival's position! I really wish Cruise Critic came with 2 message boards. Positive reviews only. Negative Reviews only... so that I could so much more easily skip the Negative review boards. Not interested! :)

  3. Does anyone have recent information on Taino Beach (Resort). Is there a beach and then also the resort. Can you go to one and not the other. Is it free to get in to the beach part. Can you then rent loungers. Can you pay a fee to enter resort - to have use of pools? Price to get there and back, prices to get in... etc. If they let you in resort, does it need to be booked ahead.? Is there another beach with pool that has affordable access fees? Going in Feb. Hope it will be warm enough for pools/beaches!

  4. Correct. The Liberty has the Red Frog Rum Bar which is the bar by the main pool. The Red Frog PUB is a seperate place, and the Liberty does not have it. It has a Jazz bar that sits empty much of the time. Hopefully in the upcoming dry dock they will switch it over. The Red Frog Pub is our favorite spot on the ship, if they have it.... very cool place, always good live music, also.

Carnival LIVE is the concert series, it has nothing to do with a venue on the ship. It is a special event held on the ship and there are only a few per year throughout the fleet. They have nothing to do with a particular ship.

We also love the Red Frog Pub... and the Valor had it - Liberty does not, unless they update her in dry dock and give her the PUB. I don't care which shows they have ... we never attend them!

  5. Check your pricing carefully. Our Feb. 12, 2017 was repriced somehow. Went up by $20.00. Not a lot, but still not as booked. So, check your prices against your original booking. PVP is working on it now.:(

We are on the now Liberty Feb. 12 sailing and our booking is back in there, same cabin # etc., and I think the same price however, it's not showing that it's paid in full. It was paid in full at the time of booking. Hopefully they will still get around to adding and update that information. Good job I printed our documents off prior to the change. I have a paper with our booking number on the Valor showing payment was made in full.

  6. Just got my FTTF credit applied to my CC today. I'm not sure why that was cancelled and didn't just move over.

I'm just hoping the spa reservations move over...

    per carnival website:

Important Update: During our Carnival Liberty/Carnival Valor ship change process, some guests received a cancellation notice regarding cancelled pre-sale items, i.e., shore excursions, beverage packages, Faster to the Fun, Fun Shop purchases, Carnival Live, etc. Rest assured, our team will reinstate all pre-sale items at the original purchased price. We kindly ask that you refrain from rebooking any pre-sales to avoid double bookings. Thank you for your patience as our team completes this work.

  7. Spa charges have been credited back to our credit card now so I take it those didn't move over. Too bad. Not sure we will rebook FTTF. :(

  9. Pull up the cruise plans for the Valor; if your new room is an 6B or higher (C, D etc) then you are equal or better.

Never hurts to call if you want to be more mid-ship. Personally, we don't notice much of a difference. Do you have issues when in the show lounge? How about up on the higher decks at the front of the ship. If not, I can't see that it would be an issue. But then again, I don't tend to sea sickness...

The higher the catagory letter, the more desired the location. So if you were Catagory 6A and now you are 6B you are a more desired location. 6C even more desired. Etc... If you are same deck, same catagory, that is probably the best they can do. Since the ships are so identically laid out., and they are swapping Valor pax over to Liberty and LIberty pax over to Valor, we all should basically end up in approx the same spot as original cabins on your orig. booking. I'm hoping .. for that... or better!

  10. Same questions. Hoping to do a beach day in an affordable way. We went to nassau before but did he british colonial. We weren't that impressed what we got for the money. Would like to do a free beach but wonder about costs for lounge chairs, lunch and drinks. Walking to Junkakoo sounds good. Is mid February going to be warm enough in Nassau to do a beach day. Sit and get some sun and dip in the water? Or is it going to be chilly. All the info you can give on Junkanoo would be appreciated.

  11. WE're flying from NS to the port - exchange rate is terrible so the shorter cruise is a bit of a saving that way. Our daughter can't get enough leave to do a Sat - Sat or Sun - Sun Cruise so we are opting for the Sun - Thurs Valor on Feb. 12. We'll be on Cruise for Valentine's Day so I'm wondering if that will be formal night because I don't want to pay for fancy restaurant for that night if it would mean missing formal night in the dining room. It is going to feel way too short. Our last cruise was the 14 day repositioning on the Pride... I'll prob have to do that again sometime soon!

    :D

  12. We usually buy a wine package (at Cherry on Top) on our first day. They either deliver the wine to your dining room table on the nights you specify, they store unused wine and serve it to you the next night. You do not get charged a corking fee for their wine. Then, on nights you bring your own bottle of wine, they have always uncorked it for us.... and never have charged us a corking fee, even on our own wine. However, we don't ask them to store (our wine) on those nights. We just fill up our glasses at the end of the meal and walk out with a full glass of wine onto our next venture. Piano bar, comedy or whatever! Been on Liberty, Glory and Breeze and have never been charged corkage fees. it could be because they think all the wine is from their wine packages... (but the two we bring on board are our own home made wine - with labels and shrink caps to look purchased). ;)

  13. yup... boohoo... they are totally booked for the Pride Repositioning... I'm on the waiting list... but I doubt anyone will be cancelling this tour unless they cancel the Mar. 15/15 cruise entirely! Not that I hope anyone does.. but I do home someone changes their mind on this tour!

  14. I have never heard of paying upcharge of $20 in MDR for steak? Is that something new? I know we enjoy the flat iron steak. We ate in Steakhouse on Liberty on our very first cruise and were NOT impressed. There were others in the dining steak house that same night that did not enjoy their meal either. The chef came out to talk to each table, and we said we weren't that fond of our food. He didn't say that much. We are not used to fine dining, and hoped the experience would be amazing. We have never gone to the steak house since. Probably won't ever give it the 2nd try. I like the choices in the MDR and don't find it worth it to go to the steakhouse. (not even for the atmosphere.) Tables were as close together as in the MDR! (Plus they do charge the corkage fee when bringing in your bottle of wine you took on board) ... where they don't in the MDR.. (or we have never been charged the corkage fee in teh MDR).

  15. :mad:I am hoping the prices will go down again during our cruise in March. For 14 day cruise it would have cost that lowest fee ($37 something) and now it's going to be about $57 after grats.... For me and DH that adds up to abour $1465. From Canada right now with the bad dollar... that is probably almost $1700 Canadian. - in Alcohol. We always buy wine packages from Candy on Top or whatever that store is called that is delivered to dinner every night. They store what we don't drink and a 4 bottle wine package along with the 2 bottles we are permitted to bring on board was sufficient for us for a 7 - 8 day cruise. During the day a frozen drink or bucket of beer and our costs weren't that high. This time - when I saw the lower price, I got so excited, discussed it with DH and we decided to sign up for Cheers. We could then try 'glasses' of wine with dinner, try all kinds of varieties, try a lot of other cocktails we normally wouldn't try... and still not cost a whole lot more than the wine package and a few other random drinks a day. RATS... I don't think I can convince him to spend $1700 on alcohol.... Looks like we'll have to keep closer tabs on our drink tab. Wish we could buy it for 1/2 of the 14 days.. I'd probably be inclinded to do that... as I have a feeling by the end of the 7 - 8 days ... we'll both not feel as much up to drinking as the first few days.... :(

  16. :D

    Jealous!

We were on her a couple weeks ago for our wedding/honeymoon cruise :) Will be on her again next year for our 1st Anniversary :D

Jessica!!! WOW - randomly spotted you on Cruise Critic. Mike and I are going on the Repositioning Pride sailing Tampa back to Baltimore in March 2015. You 2 should come along!!!!! :) Congrats on your wedding!

  17. Little magnets to put flyers/messages on the wall. Most of the cabin walls are magnetic. Saves space on your desk for making drinks... keeps papers within sight.. notes you want to remember or a note to say where you are... easy to find/see it posted on the wall!

  18. I feel like this has been covered but I started second guessing myself and thought that it couldn't hurt to ask..

For 7 day cruises leaving out of Galveston, we are not able to purchase Cheers on the first day. Because we are purchasing cheers for only 6 days, do we get penalized and have to pay the "5 or 6 day" rate? Or do we just pay for 6 days at the 7 day rate? I had assumed it would be the 7 day rate but I could be wrong.

When you HAVE to buy it on the 2nd day because of the tax law (texas) you get billed the per day rate based on the length of your cruise... ie - the 7 day per day rate.. but you will be charged for only the 6 days of using it.
