  1. Thanks for the great review! We leave on her this Sunday!!

Game day had never even crossed my mind (and we live in Louisiana!). Thanks to your review, I have checked and there is not a home game this weekend!

I hate that some people do not control their children! It gives a bad rap to the ones that are controlled. We always cruise with our son (turning 11 on this cruise). He is never allowed to roam by himself and certainly not allowed to bother other passengers! He was taught to be respectful in all circumstances.

  2. I must be the one lucky because I don't see all these drunks that so many on Cruise Critic use to buttress their defense of unruly kids, balcony smokers, or any other poor behavior they choose to defend. Happy sailing! ;)

As I don't see all the unruly kids.

It's all in what you chose to "see." If you do not smoke - you will smell every cigarette that is lit; if you do not stay up late, you will be bothered by those walking down the hall at all hours; if you don't drink you will notice all the drunks; if you don't care for kids, you will see every little devil child on the ship.

As a side note, I was once in an elevator with a drunk man in his undies who was trying to find his room :o

It takes all kinds - and they all like to cruise :D

  3. I think you're blurring the lines between an unreasonable complaint and an honest observation. I'm a pediatrician. I work with kids all day long. Nights, weekend, holidays... I deal with kids. When I have time off, I want a break from kids! As such, I tend to cruise at times when it is less likely to encounter large numbers of children. September and January are great for me, because very few people take them out of school right after the sessions begin.

Perhaps some of these "complaints" you are railing against are simply lamentations or observations. Furthermore, I find it very helpful when people share their experience with regards to there being a lot of children on a particular itinerary at a particular time. As it helps me plan accordingly.

Lastly, it seems rather shortsighted to take your home schooled child on cruises during the off season and then hope there are lots of children on board. Honestly, it sounds about as backwards as cruising on a school vacation week and complaining about all the kids!

It doesn't matter to me one way or the other if there are lots of kids or none although there usually is a fair amount no matter what time of year we cruise.

We do not cruise for my son to have companions as we spend most of our time together.

My main point was I do not complain or worry about "too many of this or that" on board and just don't understand why it is such an issue. No one can speculate the number of children on any cruise - but it would be safe to assume that there will be more during the holidays and over the summer.

Just go and have fun - avoid what you don't want to be around - it's that simple.

  4. So often I see threads about "too many kids" on board a ship.

Well ya' know what - I don't drink but I never see threads about "too many drunks" on board; I'm not old and don't complain about all the seniors on board; nor would I ever post about it.

We were all kids once! Sure the child's behavior will depend on the parents and the way their child has been raised. But what about these adults that over drink and act very childish? Who is responsible for their behavior? I don't care to be around those types, so we steer clear of the bars and avoid those people if at all possible.

We do cruise with our son - always have and always will take him. We home school and usually cruise during the off season. I am always hoping there are lots of kids on board so he won't be alone :D

It just seems to me that if you want a vacation without children - then take that vacation (an all adult, all inclusive perhaps - it's what we did when we wanted a kidless vacation).

Clearly a cruise is family friendly and affordable so there will always be kids on board - especially during holidays and summers.

Sorry - that is my rant - I don't post much but I just don't "get" it and felt the need to rant :o

    Happy Cruising!

  5. When we were there the kids were made to wear life jackets while playing in the water park area. They play for an hour then everyone gets out and the next group goes. You are told a time to be there for your hour. (The park area is roped off from the rest of the beach.)

If I remember correctly, they can do the slide as much as they want but it is purchased separately from the water park.

We sat on the beach and watched our son play. Hubby did the slide with him and I sat nearby watching. There is a lifeguard out by the water park area watching and blowing a whistle if someone does something they aren't supposed to ;)

My son enjoyed the slide best I think. Some of the water toys are hard to get up on and to me seems tiring. I know it would wear me out. lol

The "day of activities" is probably the beach as you can stay there all you want without doing the slide or water park. They also have kayaks and I think other water items you can rent.

  6. I am booked on the Dream out of New Orleans for October 5th. I just went in to do a mock booking and the cruise is gone, nothing for that date for the Dream. I then went into Manage my booking and the itinerary is gone. Anyone know what is going on?

I just looked and the Oct 5th sailing is back under booking but not the 19th

  7. Well this post got me to wondering - so I googled Oasis Halloween and found out that kids and adults dress up. There are parades for both kids and adults.

The review I read said the ship is all out decorated and the crew dress up. I also read there is a haunted house. Seems to be a lot of fun!:D
  8. Oh - I read that wrong - All I saw was offer is not combinable with any other promotion. But the line before that says it is combinable with BOGO. So confusing!

So if that's the case and you have already booked under the BOGOHO sale, why couldn't you just cancel the first booking and rebook to get the OBC and the 1/2 off a second guest?

  9. Was a little rifted this evening when searching for a price, when opening balcony description saw something like 764.00 when actually going to book price changed to 1049.00 for first passenger, and half off second. Why is the first passenger bummed up to 1049.00..I guess because they CAN.

The $764 is an average per person after the 1/2 off. If you multiply the average price times 2 you should get the same price as $1049 + 1/2 off of $1049. (not including any taxes)

  10. This happened to us last year when we had booked our New Years sailing on the Breeze. A few weeks after we noticed our itinerary disappeared, we received an email that our Eastern cruise had changed to Western cruise with all new itinerary.

I suspect as others have mentioned that your itinerary has changed.

That being said, you will have an opportunity to cancel without penalty within a week of the email notification if that is the case.

Thanks for the info! I was getting worried. We haven't cruised Carnival since 2008 (been loyal to Royal) and I was beginning to wonder if I had made the right decision.

I wouldn't mind a change as we are cruising for the ship this time not the itinerary :)

  11. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a missing cruise! I also went in to do a mock booking on our Oct 19th cruise and it wasn't coming up. Figured I'd search here before calling carnival. I was hoping they were adjusting pricing and it would show up cheaper 😁
