1. Has anyone purchased this pre-cruise package. If so, what did you think of it. We will be on the Majestic, leaving Aukland on 10/23/18 and would like to stay a day or two before the cruise. Any into you can provide would be greatly appreciated.

  2. I haven't posted on this site for quite some time and if I'm in the wrong place for this, I apologize. Can anyone tell me about cabin L103 on the Majestic? I am wondering how bad the obstruction is on the balcony and if it's one of the cabins where the balcony can be used only when in port. Also, is the location really horrible. I appreciate any info you can provide!

  3. Storage will definitely be one of your most challenging tasks. I am the overpacker....I do hope this will help you a little. The 99cent store, dollar store, or even IKEA have collapsible boxes. Take a few along with you. They are great for storing "stuff" on the shelf above the closet (where the life vests are kept). I am short and always afraid that I would put something up there and never find it again. You can use these boxes also on the shelf under the sink. If you don't want to buy these boxes...pack cardboard boxes from Costco in your suitcase and leave them behind.

I am the one that also takes along a shower curtain and magnetic hooks to create a dressing/privacy area in the closet.

You did not mention where the Ruby was taking you or how long you will be together.

We are going to the Mexican Riviera for 10 days. Great suggestions! I use packing bags which hold my tops and undies. The bags are soft with zippers around them and can be stored in any space available. I am a bit worried about space after reading all the great suggestions. :p

  4. Get a mini that has a bunk. The bunk drops from the ceiling and you can still use the sofa. We just got home. My 9yo daughter slept on the bunk, but I would have been fine with it.

Not feasible for any of us to climb up to bunk. Maybe 10 years ago! :p

  5. They just leave it on the bed and fold it up so no worries. What we did is we got up and folded it up ourselves so that we could get out to the balcony easier. Then i think room steward would fix it up to his liking.

    Great info; thanks! :p

  6. Thanks for your quick responses. Forgot to mention that we are looking at the Ruby. Would it be feasible to ask our cabin steward to remove the egg crate in the morning and put it back on in the evening, or would this be too much to ask?

  7. As the song says, "I had the time of my life." What a cruise. I think it might be my all time favorite.I thought the food was extremely good only surpassed by the entertainment. Night after night, each performance was fabulous. Rhythms of the Night was absolutely the best excursion I have ever been on. And, thank you, Pam, for arranging our whale watching tour in Cabo. A real treat. I cannot think of one negative that's worth mentioning. It was so much fun re-connecting with so many people I've met on other cruises. I hated it to end. What a ride! Now I'm back home in Portland, Oregon to miserable rain and cold weather. I want my cruise back.

Oh, forgot to mention The Love Boat Cast. What gracious and fun people. I spoke with Donny Most (Ralph Mouth) for quite awhile and he was just the nicest person and loved meeting all the guests. Jack Jones and his wife were everywhere. The entire cast posed for pictures and no snobs among them. I'm so glad I had the opportunity to be on this cruise. It was the best!:p

Amelia, thanks for providing this blog. A great forum for all of us to post. It was great seeing you and Ken again. Hope you're feeling better. :)

  8. I'm really hyped about this cruise. The anticipation has been more than any other cruise for me. Great roll call; I can't wait to meet up with old friends and meet new ones. It will really be fun to see some of the old-timers from The Love Boat. Perhaps Jack Jones will be singing the original theme song as we board and Issac will pour my first drink! :p:D

  9. Thank you Jill, for the great review. I will also be on the PP for 14 days in December. It will be my first time on a small ship and I am really looking forward to the experience.

I just finished reading your blog and I can't tell you how much I enjoyed it. I don't know how long it took me to read it all, but it seemed like and hour or more. Great writing and made me want to be on that trip with you. Thank you for sharing so much with us! :p

  10.
That's an easy decision for $100 each. I really wanted a balcony room on my first cruise coming up in September to Alaska. It would have costed us something like $1,200+. We booked this week for a trip in early September so maybe that's why it was so much.
Completely off topic, sorry, but I had to tell you that I used to live in Payette and rarely meet anyone that lives there. I worked first for American Fine Foods which became Chiquita and then Seneca Foods. :p

To get back on topic, Alaska is one of the most scenic cruises to have a balcony. If you can't swing it now then maybe another time when you can book earlier and then look for specials. A good TA should be able to help with that. Bon Voyage! :):)
  11. We had fabulous service and tipped extra to our cabin steward, our waiter and his assistant. We had the same waitstaff for entire cruise. Our cabin steward brought us coffee and rolls every morning, made sure we always had ice and was extremely responsive to our needs. I can't say enough about our wonderful waitstaff!
