  1. I am totally clueless about plants . If they live they stay . I mostly have salt tolerant plants , two oaks and palm trees because they are hardy ,

As for leggings I wear under armour slightly loose capri leggings . I hate any thing too tight . They last forever and are super comfortable .

  2. When I got new furniture the store took the old set to Habitat and I got a tax write off . The problem with furniture in Florida is the sun fades it .I had a red sofa and chair that faded to a weird shade of rose . I now have a white couch in a sumbrella fabric that will not fade . Once I get a room how I like it I tend not to change things until I get totally sick of them usually about twelve years .

  3. Sometimes you just need new art work . Last spring I put new pictures in my kitchen & one in our tv room . It made a big difference. I bought them on art.com and was very pleased with their service . I am more like Anita in I like my house to be a little odd.

This time of year is so odd we have really warm weather one day and then it turns cold .

  4. I also have a Le Creuset double oven . It was a present over fifty years ago and it is still my go to pot for roasts . We are having our skylight and roof vent replaced today . It started to leak in the last tropical storm .Luckily our neighbor is a builder so he helps us to get reasonable estimates .He also wants to buy our house and hounds us about it . We have two and a half lots on Sarasota Bay .We will eventually sell him the house but not just yet .

  5. Anita, I really like your vanity and color choices . I wear make up every day unless I am staying home. It has a sunblock so it protects fro Florida rays . People are always remarking how few wrinkles I have and I think it is due to keeping my face protected . I wear Estee Lauder makeup and clinque lipstick ,mascara & blush.

Laurie , Your neck looks really inflamed . Maybe see a Dermatologist ? I have spent so much on my daughter it is unbelievable . I finally learned to just step away and let her handle it . I also had a hard time accepting that she was not like me .Once I made peace with that things were fine .

  6. Margaret , We looked at the Mazda a few years ago when my car needed to be replaced . Nice car . I ended up buying the toyota rav which I love.

Laurie , Before I retired I tracked all my expenses for several years so I was prepared but ultimately I retired when I had had enough of the crap at work. I was 60 and for me that was an ideal age but probably bad timing as that was at the start of the recession and I lost over a third of my savings . It did come back but it rattled me for awhile . I have now been retired 13 years and it has been great . It gave me the opportunity to travel while still healthy . I read lots of investment books to make sure I was on track and several retirement calculators .A paid off house and very little debt, and health care  make it easy .

Anita, I love watching the kitchen evolve .

Melody  I am also trying to clean out my closet and not add more items.

  7. Anita , I love how the pantry is turning out . I especially love the coffee corner . What a great idea ! I am sure you will find the perfect cabinet for that area.

Melody , Happy Birthday ! I love how your kids decorated your house .

We have been having constant cold weather . It may finally warm up this week . I am so sick of the few winter things I own.

Anita, I’m glad you’re taking ‘as you go’ pictures.

our March cruises (that we cancelled in December) officially cancelled this week. Celebrity has cancelled through end of April & summer in Med is off. I’m hoping the cruise industry can survive!

I can not see how it can survive after all this . It will probably be a lot different than what we were used to. I really miss movie theaters . My favorite theater shut down with no sign of reopening .

  9. Florida has had cold and crappy weather . I feel sorry for all the people who came for the sunshine because it has been chilly for most of January . On Monday I had my house deep cleaned . A crew came and did a fabulous job on all the areas you get to but they got to better .It is so nice to have a sparkling house . I should have been doing this for years . Our big project last year was we redid our elevator . We live in an elevated house 18' up so an elevator is necessary for loading groceries etc. Ours had gotten old and fidgety so we replaced it . Major expense but a big selling point .

Remember I got these clogs for Christmas?

I'll comment on the sizing because I had to exchange mine. They are European sizes, so the chart said 6.5/7 would be a 37. I'm a true 7 and they were just a bit snug and short (my right foot is closer to a 6.5 and fit perfectly). It took a while but the size 38 came yesterday and they are perfect. Normally a 7.5/8 would be large on me. You know when they sell flip flops as a double size, like 7/8? I can never buy them because the 7/8 is always too big.

They are very cushy without feeling loose or sloppy, and the elastic in the instep keeps them snug on the foot, great for going down the basement stairs. I think I'll ask for the blue ones for Valentines Day to keep in the city. 😁

I really love those clogs . I am just not sure how much I would wear them in Florida .

Sally, how big is yours?  This Cuisinart was huge. If it was smaller we’d likely have kept it. I don’t have a lot of counter space & I didn’t want to give up that much space (it was too heavy to move from pantry when I wanted to use it). Melody

I have a 6 quart Gourmia . I have tons of counter space so it is not bad.I think the appliance is perfect for people who want to cook fast . You seem to do a lot of slow cooking .I do a lot of quick cooking plus it keeps the kitchen cool in the summer .I would not have one if I had to move it from a pantry .

I ended up returning the air fryer that I got for Christmas. Realized I didn’t want to use so much counter space for something I’d likely never use.

Melody - We gave ours to Goodwill ---- seemed like a good idea when we bought it but only used it a handful of times.

I use mine constantly . I also bought my daughter one and she loves it .

  13. Thanks everybody ! I am still able to enjoy life . Today we are going for lunch at a nearby place overlooking the water . I have always traveled a lot and after retirement I really traveled like crazy . I hope everybody gets to travel again this year and at one point Covid is in the rear window.

  14.  I know i have been very secretive about my illness . Let's just say it was nothing I ever expected and it can not be cured only controlled . It has made me take a long look at life and what matters . It is family, friends , experiences and not things. I have said many times if you want to go on a trip go life changes in a  minute . I am so grateful for all the traveling I have done and all the experiences I have had .I am so grateful for my family especially Gary and my daughter . All in all life is okay I enjoy reading all the adventures and looking at the clothes .I am surprised JJill is not sending me "Where are you cards ". I hope 2021 is a better year .

  15. I am really touched by everybody caring about me . I have been lurking but not posting . I am going through a serious medical issue but I have tons of support . Haven't been doing much JJill shopping but still doing lots of retail therapy . Thanks everyone for missing me . I will show up occasionally . We had a nice quiet Christmas and best of all my daughter came for a visit right before the holidays and made it back Covid free . I am enjoying reading all the adventures . Laurie , Sorry about your daughter . I hope she spends some time figuring out why she makes some choices .

Anita, I am so sorry this Covid has made it so hard on You & your son . I hope the vaccines are the answer .

Margaret & Melody , Hope you have great rest of the holiday ! I think 2020 is one year we will be glad to see go. Sorry if I missed anyone !

  16. Laurie , Do not pick the first rug . I have a very similar rug in my foyer and while it is perfect for that area it would look awful in a living area.. I know you do not want to do this but maybe you should wait until the couch and chairs come before you make the decision on the rug .
