Thanks for all of the great information. We are wanting to take the bus to Mdina. I am having trouble navigating the Malta bus stop website. Does the bus leave from the station at Triton Fountain? How frequently do they leave? Any information is appreciated.

Thanks for your report. We will be in port in November. We are thinking of taking the train to Monte Carlo and was deciding if we should do a guided tour or just a DIY visit. It sounds like you saw every thing you wanted on your own. Is there anything you would have done different?

I was wondering if you had any advise for our plans when we arrive in Mallorca in October. We are planning on renting road bicycles in Plama from NANO Bikes and ride to Consell. In Consell we were thinking of going to Bodega Ribas for wine tasting and food during a 1-2 hour tasting. After that we were going to stop at a couple of places in Consell and then ride back to Palma. The rest of our time would be spent walking around Palma. I would appreciate any incite or advise.

We have reservations with Scooteroma. They have great reviews. We are doing a 4 hour foodie tour on April 14th. I’ll be sure to let you know!

You might also want to have a look at these two videos. I think they’re a pretty accurate representation of Rome traffic. I would find it stressful, but to each his own!

Thanks for posting these videos. I consider myself adventurous but not crazy. There is no way I would drive like that. Those people in the videos are lucky to be alive. Multiple lane changes and driving on the wrong side of the road...Yikes.:eek:

Thanks for everyone's reply and for crushing my dreams. None of the replies actually answered the question has anyone ever rented a Vespa. I would assume that none of you have. I have serched companies that rent motorbikes and there are several in Rome and many have excellent reviews so that makes me think that renting a motorbike is something done frequently. I also found several videos posted on YouTube of people who have rented Vespas. One of those videos was of Charlie Rose who is 76 years old driving around Rome on a Vespa, so If a 76 year old has done it and multiple other people do this everyday surly it is not a deadly as these replies make it seem. But again thanks for your concern for my health.

We will be staying in Rome for three days prior to cruising. I love the movie Roman Holiday and watching it makes me want to rent a Vespa. I know the traffic in Rome is awful but we are rather adventurous. Anyone have any experience with renting a Vespa?

Skibyrd - I feel so silly. You were replying to my post and I did not realize it. I have just recently fond the roll call thread for our cruise. It has not been very busy. Have you been on it?

Try this youtube video. My wife and I do not usually pay for extras but we would definitely rent one again.

My wife and I rented a cabana and loved it. We thought it was pricey but it was one extra we wanted to treat ourselves with. We were lucky enough to be one of the first to choose which cabana we wanted and we chose Number 7. It was completely private. We were unseen by anyone else other than the attendants who were on duty. Loved the view of the ship as we lounged in complete privacy.

We are fresh off of the Jewel this past Monday.

 

As a side note, this was one of our best cruises ever. The Jewel is a fantastic ship. The food in the Windjammer seemed to be better than any other Royal cruise in the last several years.

Great to hear. What was your itinerary? In October of 2018 we will be doing the 12 night Med cruise. This will be our first trip into Europe and I was hoping for some port information.

We will be following. Just 14 months away from our 12 night Med cruise. I think we depart on 10/24/18. It seems so far away.:eek:

I saw a lap chart shomewhere and I remember that 1 mile is equal to 2.9 laps. I will be running on the Quantum in 11 days. I will let you know what I think.
