  1. We had FTTF on our 4/6 Legend. They were late boarding because of a Coast Guard inspection. But we went straight to our room - no one questioned us. We dropped our stuff and went to lunch. When we went back by the big door was shut. A little elderly couple were standing there waiting for the doors to be opened. We just opened it and went through. Their mouths fell open.

  2. We're back - today - we went to Palancar. Weather was just ok. The water was VERY ROUGH. We tried to do their snorkel excursion. Lets say I would try it again if I knew conditions were good. Food and service was great.

  3. If you're still thinking, We've snorkeled at Coki, Secret Harbour on St Thomas and Trunk Bay twice on our own. Coki is nice. But the snorkeling is more appropriate for beginners. I don't think 3 ships is excessive to spoil your fun at Trunk. If you can book a smaller excursion on your own though you'll get the best sites. We just returned from a western route and snorkeled Palancar reef off Cozumel, Off Little French Key Roatan and off Grand Cayman. Open water snorkeling is harder than beach snorkeling but what you see is very worth it. Good luck whatever you decide.

  4. Okay. Some observations.

1- I thought the Legend was a very beautiful ship. I was sad looking around thinking I might not see her again.

2 - FTTF was overall worth the $49 for us. We got to dump 4 people's stuff upon boarding in the first group. We got the first tender in Grand Cayman. We got off today in the 1st checked luggage group.

3 - Food was HIT and MISS. Loved favs like Crème brûlée and spaghetti carbonara, Bitter and Blanc BUT the Châteaubriand and the "Fillet" were horrible - worst two pieces if beef ever! Breakfast was boring. Didn't eat lunch except the first day. It was good.

4 - LOVED our First ever balcony. Very worth it. AND while worried about 4 of us in a cabin (don't usually get one bedroom for kids and DH and I on vacation) it was absolutely fine. Plenty if storage space!!

5 - Really enjoyed the shows - except not Hasbro. We are theatre people. Our close extended family includes about 10 degrees in music, theatre, or dance. That said- I've always been "the audience". I enjoyed or even loved every show. The 8 main performers were all good young performers. I'd say they are on par with a really good university program. If they were much better they'd be in New York or a national tour. And while on this topic I'll add that we lived attending Assistant Cruise Director Mike's very fun Musical Trivia programs in the evenings. If you were there - I'm the one sent to the corner one night for singing a title. - BUT IT DIDN'T DO IT!! He just thought I did.

  5. By the pools? No. But we slept late both sea days and went to brunch first. Didn't really try. Got loungers on deck 10 which we like for the breeze ( WIND!!) above the buffet area. Easy hop down for ice or snacks. Saw some chair hogs lots of stuff and no bodies in them.

  6. JUST OFF THE LEGEND 1st comment AMAZINGLY WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE FROM START TO FINISH. Details to follow soon. First who we are- 4 of us cruised. DH and I cruised the Freedom. Family of 6 cruised Disney Magic twice. This time 2 daughters 16 & 14 cruised with us. We stayed in 7146. Loved the balcony (1st balcony). Drive from Atl. Stayed in Country Inns & Suites in Brandon. Great hotel. Drive over Sun morning we a breeze. Coast Guard inspection slowed boarding. We had FTTF we boarded after noon. Room was ready but luggage didn't show until 1:20!!! Requested by note an ice bucket and to have the drink cooler emptied -both done before setting sail. Lunch was typical and uncrowded.

  7. Thanks to everyone. I am not sure what to do yet but I feel better about my ideas. I did add Palancar to the mix after I first posted the thread. It looks like a possibility. I don't know if the girls would want to boat out to snorkel or not. We have water stops the next two days. I hate to pre-book too much in case the weather is off.

As of now I am thinking I'll cut Chankanaab Park because it probably will be crowded. BUT I am still open to opinions.

    :D

  8. We are two weeks out and I don't know what to do!!

I thought we'd just go to Paradise Beach - We are laid-back folks looking for a beach with a bit of snorkeling. BUT there are 7 ships in Coz on 4/8. Should we go to Chankanaab Park instead? I want to opportunity to stay at least 4 or 5 hours. We have our own snorkel gear so we would just need food. We don't drink much so all inclusives don't make sense for us.

ANY IDEAS ARE WELCOME!! (We visited in 08 and went to PB - and liked it then.)

    THANKS

  9. We've cruised there in early April before. My experience with April in the Caribbean is based in where you're from. If you live in a cool climate it will feel warm enough. If you're from a more warm place (we're near Atl) you may find the water a little cooler than summer in your area.

  10. I feel your pain! 11 we were in NYC for the Tonys went to the Red Carpet. Then watched on the SUPER JUMBOTRON in Time's Square. We saw Catch Me If You Can on Sat night. Got Norbert Leo Butts' autograph and watched him win on Sunday night. Too cool! Then last year we were at Walt Disney World and missed the whole thing! Good Luck!

  11. This will be the first time we've taken the girls on a Carnival Cruise and I am a bit nervous. 1 - these two ( our 3rd and 4th DDs - sort of hate to be together. (16.5 and barely 14). But they will be in different programs by what I've read. I'm nervous about them coming and going by themselves. On our last Disney Cruise our older 2 DDs were 14 and 16 but they were ALWAYS together which made me feel a lot better. I'm mostly worried about the 14 yr old. She's pretty naïve. I was thinking I'd have to secretly stalk her. ;)

  12. I hope they bring the crème brûlée back.

    My #1 favorite

It seemed like ALL of my very most favorites were gone.

As long as there is food who cares?

I do - I paid for it and I want food I'd be willing to pay for at home. A lot of the new menu I would NEVER order at a restaurant at home. It is supposed to be a bit above O'Charlie's! (They have free pie every Wednesday). I would NEVER order pie. I grew up eating only homemade pies and wouldn't waste the calories on a frozen pie! Eating on a cruise is supposed to be a bit nice!

I think the stink is basically over two things -

1 - They took off many favorites and 2 - it seems like they cut back on quality – made it less special.
