@USC Adventurer Good to hear that you are enjoying your cruise onboard Crystal Bach. I am very much looking forward to mine the week after yours. Fingers crossed that all's well with weather and water levels in the region.

    hello xo cruzar,

i'll be getting off the bach on nov 10th after my cruie from basel to amsterdam.  hope we both have great river experiences without any water level issues.  this is my first river cruise too!

    Hello USC Adventurer,

Good to hear! Would you be so kind to post updates while you’re onboard? I shall look forward to reading your updates. I’m an ocean cruiser so I’m a bit worried on how I will like river cruising.  Thanks in advance!

  3. My friend and I returned recently on a TA onboard QM2. We are both seasoned cruisers but first time on a Cunard; it was my first experience with gentlemen hosts onboard. We enjoyed the dance classes, but most especially enjoyed the dancing at night because of the gentlemen hosts. There were 6 of them and it was fairly easy to spot them on the dance floor. They approached the ladies and politely asked if they would like to dance. They were all fine gentlemen, good conversationalists, and good dancers.

  4. Yes, we love the Dawn and the Star, her sister ship.

We've been on the Dawn twice before and the

    Star - I'm not sure - 8 times I think.

It is a great size - not too big & not too little.

Great officers and crew on both ships.

We'll have to learn all of the Dawn staff since we haven't been on her in a while.

    That's OK though.

I hear good things about many of these folks.

Enjoy your sailing, Judy. I planned on being back onboard the week of Oct24 to celebrate my birthday. Had a change of heart - doing QM2 instead, it'll be different, I guess, but for sure not as warm as the Dawn.

  5. Mark is hoping to go on vacation for Christmas. If he manages to get off during Christmas it will be his first time for many years to spend the holidays at home. It will be a surprise to his family, he is really very excited about it. Hoping it works out for him.

Mark told us the same thing and we're truly happy and excited for him. Praying that everything works out for him - there's fear that his contract may be extended which will result in him missing Christmas with his family again :(.

  6. I'm so glad to hear that many may still be on the DAWN in October.

We're on the Dawn for 21 days - October 31 to Bermuda & then Nov 7 Repo to NOLA. We're in a suite and I will definitely look for Mark & say hello for you - except I don't know your name.:)

I've heard others speak highly of Virginia.

I'm sure we'll get to know her.

    Judy

Hi Judy - Wow! You must really love the Dawn and I completely understand why. Definitely envious. Wish I can do a 21-day cruise or longer, but retirement is not coming soon enough :). Please give Mark a hug from me. He'll know if you say "XO". If your suite is one of the forward suites, you'll likely get Edna as your suite attendant. She's also fantastic. Please also give her a hug for me.

Karabi was the Concierge when I was onboard. I don't know if Virginia is going back to the Dawn. Happy, happy sailing to you and Rol! Keep us posted.

  7. I am actually hoping some of the names change as the only one I recognized is Mark Santos (and I am glad he'll still be on board when we sail!). :)

Happy for you Cubechick. If your suite is located on Deck 9, Mark will likely be your butler since he'll be finishing that deck rotation in Nov. Please send my best to him. I understand that he may be transferred to another ship after his vacation this year given that he's had 3 contracts already on the Dawn. Too bad for the Dawn but he'll be an excellent addition to whichever ship he'll be moving. What is it like in Bermuda at the time you're sailing? Thx!

    XO

  8. Thanks for the DAWN information.

I had the list from a few months ago and it was totally different.

It looks like all of the officers/captain are new.

We'll sail on her in October, so hopefully some of these folks will still be onboard.

    Judy

You're welcome, Judy. I took pictures of the staff/officers' names from the board near the purser's desk so I won't forget them. I think their contracts are shorter than those of the crew members (an Aug. 1 update indicated another captain once again). If you're staying in one of the suites, please say hello to Mark. He's really one outstanding butler (I think most people will agree). He should be onboard until end of Nov. I heard that some (if not most) staff are extending their contracts till end of Nov. or early Dec. Have a great cruise!

  9. I was told this Monday that luggage tags do not get mailed out unless you actually complete docs on line! It is that address they use to mail your luggage tags! I then promptly completed everything. Now waiting to see if they show up in the mail! Just under 30 days to go. I also requested a preconxierge letter by email. Still do not have that!

We booked just over a month prior to sailing; completed doc requirements online soon after. We received our priority luggage tags about 3 weeks prior to sailing.
