  1. We were in Skagway yesterday on the Grand and saw the narrow landslide area.  We docked on the other side of the harbor entrance.   It was closer to downtown not like anything is far away in Skagway.

That is great that they are upgrading for a minimal amount.  I have noticed on the NB cruise that the port side is remaining unsold.  We are on the 7/6 sailing and starboard has been sold our for a while.  I was wondering if they would do something to fill those cabins.

I told them I only will accept if they keep me on the same side of the ship as my current balcony (right/starboard).  And they complied.

  3. First time I've accepted an offer from a cruise line to upgrade that cost me $.  This time on the Grand Princess north bound from Vancouver to Whittier in a week.  I had a Baja balcony BB with internet, gratuities, drink package.  The offer was a Club Class mini-suite on Dolphin M1 + retained internet, gratuities and drink package all for $199 pp/$398 wife and I.  7 nights, so about $28 pp per day.  We don't drink, so I'll give the wine away.  Maybe Class Club dinning, in MDR but different section, will be worth it.  We will see.

Only downside, balcony is not covered, and we are cruising AK 😬.  If you see a guy in a rainsuit with binocs standing in the rain on Dolphin deck on his uncovered balcony, that's me getting my money's worth. 😁

My wife and I have not had a vacation together in 2 years and last cruise was in 2018, so I decided to take it, what the heck.  It's only $$$ (I have not told her yet...).

Let's see how it goes.  Safe travels everyone.

  4. This was a couple yrs ago, but Step 3 is what caused a delay for my wife of about 3 weeks (something in her background check they saw and they brought up in the interview).  Mine was conditionally approved w/in a week.  We then just scheduled our 1-1 interview and they had many openings in central FL.  We love GE, since TSA-Pre is part of it.  We plan to use GE when we go through the immigration stage in Vancouver for our NB Grand cruise in 2 weeks.

How to Apply for Global Entry | U.S. Customs and Border Protection (cbp.gov)

It’s easy. Just follow these steps:

    1. Create a Trusted Traveler Programs (TTP) account. Regardless of your age, you must have your own TTP account.
    2. Log in to your TTP account and complete the application. A $100 non-refundable fee is required with each completed application.
    3. After accepting your completed application and fee, CBP will review your application. If your application is conditionally approved, then your TTP account will instruct you to schedule an interview at a Global Entry Enrollment Center. Each applicant must schedule a separate interview.
    4. You will need to bring your valid passport(s) booklet and one other form of identification, such as a driver’s license or ID card to the interview. If you are a lawful permanent resident, you must present your machine readable permanent resident card.
  5. Great post and pics @dhanakorn.

I'm on the northbound cruise as well on the Grand in about 15 days.  My sister lives in Anchorage and she will be picking me up at the port in Whittier (and she knows about the tunnel and fare).  Can you please let me know when the gangway opens for your cruise for general debarkation? (If you hear or read it.)

The app is not letting me choose my time to leave the ship.

Thanks again for your time sharing your journey.

I can't believe I did it because I'm so cheap, but I booked the Pan Pacific for my one night in Vancouver before my cruise.  Splurge.

That's what I did as well for my June cruise.  We arrive at 5pm night before.  Pricey, but should be nice.  Check out at 12pm and I got the 12pm boarding group on the Grand Princess.  Leaves some time in the AM to explore and walk around.

  7. I'm going to schedule mine on Monday for a Wed Vancouver 4:30pm departure.  We fly on Tue, so that should work.  I was going to do Sunday test, but worried it would expire.

Anyone else doing this test from Walgreens/CVS?  The reg PCR takes up to 48 hours, wont work for us.

    Rapid NAAT Test
    • Results available within 2 hours
    • Self-swab of nasal cavity
    • Samples are tested on-site
    • Meets most pre-travel testing requirements; check with your destination to verify

The rapid NAAT is a molecular test that detects genetic material of the virus.

  8. Right now, I plan on taking Walgreens Rapid NAAT for my cruise out of Vancouver in June.

From Walgreens - "The rapid NAAT is a molecular test that detects genetic material of the virus."

But Canada just posted: "Starting April 1st, pre-entry tests will no longer be required for fully vaccinated travelers entering Canada by land, air or water."  Let's see what Princess does.

  9. Our 12 night Baltic cruise on Celebrity was port intensive, during early May and low # of children/youths.  However, it's one of our best cruises from a culture, historical and geographical perspectives.  Just the 2 nights alone in Sp. Petersburg (which we used TJ Travel and were awesome!) was amazing.

I was so tired at the end of the day from ports, I slept like a baby, so can't tell you what it was like after the early show time,

    In case this helps...

I had a cruise from London on the Legend at the end of June.  I cancelled all my booked excursions, $1100, with Carnival on March 15th. via online.  I got a full refund yesterday back to my credit card.  So little less than 2 months.

When Carnival cancelled the Legend cruises, I applied to get my deposit back, $400.  I didn't make any payments to the cruise itself.  Today I got the $400 credited back to my credit card.

I feel lucky got 100% back what I purchased via Carnival's website.  Now, dealing with Florida unemployment for my wife is another story.

  11. Just saw it in my email as well.  I was on the Legend out of London at the end of June ending in Barcelona.  I cancelled before final payment was due (March 30th), so maybe I'll get back the $400 deposit and may have other options.  Then have to deal with transatlantic Delta flights as well.  Stay healthy.

  12. Not sure how long as this started last night, but if you are flying down to FL from the Tri-state area, you go into a mandatory self-quarantine.

"Starting today, passengers arriving into FL from the New York Tri-State area (Connecticut, New Jersey and New York) must self-quarantine for 14 days due to COVID-19, according to @GovRonDeSantis Executive Order.

  13. Here is the email I received for my uncle's trip we cancelled down to FL this pass week.

Additional Flexibility if You Need to Adjust Your Travel Plans

With the unprecedented cancellations of events and foreign countries issuing travel restrictions, we understand your travel plans may change. So, we have made additional changes to our already very flexible policies.

If you decide not to travel, as long as you cancel your flight before its departure, the funds used to pay for a nonrefundable ticket are normally valid for one year from the date of purchase. However, in recognition of the current travel environment, we are extending the expiration date of some travel funds:

    o

Customers' funds that have expired or will expire between March 1-May 31, 2020, will now expire June 30, 2021.

    o

Any travel funds created because of a flight cancellation between March 1-May 31, 2020, will have an expiration date of June 30, 2021.

    o

It will take our Technology Teams a few weeks to make these changes, and once you're ready to use these funds, simply reference the PNR number on the reservation and use it as you would use "store credit" at most retail establishments.

Also, any travel planned through the end of April can be changed online for up to 60 days from the original date of travel without paying any difference in fare if you are traveling between the same origin and destination.

A-List Preferred, A-List, and Companion Pass Qualification

I know many of our A-List Preferred, A-List, and Companion Pass Members–or those working to qualify for these benefits–have questions about how the current environment may impact their ability to qualify for status this year. While I don't have an answer for you today, we are closely monitoring this situation, and we will follow-up at the appropriate time on how we will address this situation.

    Upcoming Schedule Revisions

We are aggressively managing our business so that we can continue to serve you and deliver the Hospitality you expect from Southwest Airlines® into the future. If one of your upcoming flights is impacted, you will receive a notification from us making you aware of the change. Wait times to speak to a Representative in our call centers are likely to be very high, but you can always make modifications online.

  14. My sister and her family live in Anchorage and all the small mom and pop shops are not ramping up purchases just yet.  They are crossing their fingers travel and tourists will start arriving this spring/summer, but worried it wont.  As they say, as oil goes, so does Alaska and right now, both oil and tourism are hurting.

  15. "Those currently onboard a cruise that will end in the next five days will continue to sail as expected through the end of the itinerary so that onward travel arrangements are not disrupted. Current voyages that are underway and extend beyond March 17 will be ended at the most convenient location for guests, factoring in operational requirements. Princess will do everything possible to return each guest home with the greatest amount of care possible."

Current cruises for Princess, may not end where you were support to debark.  Going to be operational and logistical nightmare.

  16. I have a cruise end of June out of London.  Will make my final payment on the due date and then go from there.  But this came in today from Twitter.

DOH has identified 3 cases of #COVID19 who work at Port Everglades. Individuals experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 who recently traveled through Port Everglades should self-isolate until healthy and contact their healthcare provider prior to seeking care.
