I don't recall exactly how many shows are offered, but people need to have a reservation and you are only allowed to reserve 1X.

However, you can get in line to go to any show and about 5 minutes before showtime people are allowed in - sometimes there are seats and sometimes not.

No, the music is not live but the singing is.

The music is live, you do not see the orchestra in the theater, they are backstage.

If you look closely there are a couple of tv monitors in the theater between the ground level and balcony level in direct view of the performers on stage. During the show they display a live view of the conductor for the cast.

I have never seen such a total disregard for Dress your Best night as there was last night. Approximately 20% of the ship were dressed. If that.
Very strange as usually on European cruises the Spanish etc really get dressed up. Personally I blame the lack of a paper compass so it is trickier to read on a little phone.

No Chefs Amenity has been delivered (yet) and it’s the last night tonight.

It was the same on Odyssey a couple of weeks ago. Barely anyone dressed up.
For some reason White Night was well observed.

When you are within 30 days or less of your sail date you can email rcldining@rccl.com

Provide your booking/reservation, names, ship name and sail date and request a table for 2.  Maybe ask for a window seat, if you like.

Then once onboard go to the main dining room to confirm table location.

Correct, I've been doing that for the last few years and have always had my request granted. Removes the stress of doing it on boarding day.
If you don't want to be stuck next to another table, I've found that the tables by the railings to be private.

Well, there’s surely a lot to be said on THAT topic! 😁 Having just sailed on the Symphony, I’d say formal is back on that ship. 2 nights of runway fashion. The vast majority of guests were very dressed up - gowns, glitter, suits and tuxes galore sailed the promenade. It was fun to see. Dining room clientele was a step down, but still quite dressy. We were in the dressy dress/shirt & tie group. BTW it was in the Caribbean (for the member who asked specifically).

Odyssey doing the Greek islands last week was more t-shirts, shorts and baseball caps for formal nights.
On the other hand white night seemed to be vastly respected ...

Been the same on both OS we had on Allure and Oasis, can't move the one TV and can't feel for the HDMI.  The other TV was pretty easy.  I thought I read somewhere RCCL was going to install Chromecast on some newer ships to resolve this issue.

I just got off the Odyssey, Chromecast was available.
You select 'streaming services' on the Home screen of your cabin TV, it then gives you url and a code that you need to open up and encode on your device (phone, laptop, ...). Once done they give you the Id of the Chromecast associated to you and it opens up on the TV.
I might be mistaken but it doesn't look like the chromecast is in your tv, it looks like it's somewhere on the network, when you open up that url it gets somehow associated to you and the tv, the network access gets opened, you are then able to see it on your device, and it pops up on the tv.
(everytime you do the process you get a different chromecast id, if you do it in quick succession you end up seeing for a short period of time all the ids on your device)

    It is Euro. Not Euros.

The term euro is always written in
    the singular, not the plural.

You would also say 5 euro, not 5 euros.

That's not totally correct, the singular is always used in official EU legislation documents however the plural form is accepted per European commission style guide just as long as the "eur" root remains the same=> https://european-union.europa.eu/institutions-law-budget/euro/design_en

Most English dictionaries list both styles.

Your credit card is charged in Euro's and the bank (note I said bank) converts it.  Some cards will not charge for this, but others will give you at least a 3% fee to exchange it.  But again, the merchant is not doing it, your bank is.

That's not always true, if the merchant has a contract with a DCC provider and the customer allows the merchant to do the DCC then the conversion will be done by the merchant and his provider at a fee. (generally more than 3%). On top of that DCC fee the issuing bank can also add an extra fee for a foreign transaction (Think carefully before accepting DCC 🙂 )

@little britain and kezzie: To my defense, the last time we were in Europe, everyone, outside of the UK, were happy to accept USD! Not this time. That explains my shock. Sorry for shocking you!

I've lived in mainland Europe all my life and have never witnessed any shop accept dollars. (maybe the odd tourist shop and even then the conversion rate would be atrocious). I mustn't be going to the right places
tip : if paying by card, some machines will ask you of you want to pay in the card's currency or the local currency, always chose the local currency and let your bank do the conversion, the machines usually take a > 3% rate to do the conversion. (Dynamic Currency Conversion) - same with royal for the onboard account, if you use a card that isn't in USD opt out of the DCC that royal proposes, they take 3%.

  9. Oasis class ships usually dock starboardside. (they do sometimes dock portside if they need to use the starboard lifeboats for a drill, that shouldn't be the case here as they usually do the drill in La Spezia)
In BCN that would mean :
If you are in a portside cabin you would have a vue of cargo ships/infrastructure and Montjuic, if you are in a starboardside cabin you would have a vue of the dock + the sea beyond.
Going out of Barcelona doesn't really matter as you are heading out to sea towards Majorca, the coast will be behind you.
However going out of Marseille and heading towards La Spezia, you will have a beautiful view of the french coast/ callenques if you are in a portside cabin.

Also worth noting if you are in a starboard balcony cabin , you will be woken up very early by the noise of the boarding bridges (they have a VERY loud alarm  to warn people that they are moving) while docking in Civitavecchia and BCN on the way back

Ugh, I completely disagree. I had Michele on Wonder in May, and he completely ruined the into to Tap Factory because he wanted to talk, AGAIN. He talks and talks and loves to hear the sound of his voice. I do agree that he's good for the Med regarding language, but he's got to learn when and when not to speak.

I have to agree with CruisingJoe09, Michele is a great cruise director, I've had him on several cruises. He does an amazing job, very approachable as well.

I found there are swimming goggles with optical adjustments. They most likely won't match your regular prescription but should be good enough for a 10 min ride or whatever.

It's not just/normally about climbing the stairs, but more about the whole experience. You can't see things clearly outside/people looking at you/meeting you and so on.

They sometimes do not allow you to ride the slides with goggles even if they are optical.
I have some Speedo ones that match my prescription they are a life changer when going swimming I just wish that Royal would allow them on the slides. IMHO, contact lenses are not the best option as they tend to come off if there is too much water in the eyes (splash at the end of the slide).

  12. They decided to name the class with the same name they had for the project 'Project Vision'.

It's definitely not the first time that group of ships have been named classes, that practice was already common in the 19th century. (If you are talking about Royal Only, they already had the Sovereign class by that time)
