  1. hi to the lady on her first p and o cruise. we are also on that cruise and have done other cruise lines in the past but i am sure you can only bring on wines/champagne type drinks and anything stronger ie spirits is not allowed. please correct me if i am wrong. also they have to be consumed in your room unless you want to pay corkage.

on a lighter note please be aware that this cruise departs barbados on the 5th november and not the 6th as stated. would hate for you to miss it :)

  2. is it my understanding that if i can print my own luggage labels and e tickets on the personiliser that i will not receive my holiday information brochure which contains these items. our friends who are coming with us have theirs and even after ringing our travel agents over a week ago still havent got ours. only a couple of weeks to go to the cruise, should i be bothered about this.

  3. glad someone else mentioned cruisecal.com. i didnt want to say in my post in case i got taken down :) this is were i found out the port times and have therefore arranged several private trips but also a couple with p and o as too spread my hard earned cash around. its just nice to be able to know roughly what time we sail. not for any gains on my part. could you imagine the airlines not telling you what time the flight is.we are taking 2 friends on their first cruise and they dont know the procedures and are relying on us to tell them what normally goes on.weve done celebrity.ncl and princess and had a wonderful time with them. we did a p and o to norway a few years ago and that went ok.just would be great if the cruise company was straight with the paying customers.

  4. can anyone tell me why p and o do not let us know the port times for arrival and departure on the britannia caribbean cruises. saying early morning or early evening or early afternoon is no more use than a chocolate fireguard.

i have managed to find the times on a website not linked to p and o. we have therefore been able to book some private tours but also some on our cruise personilser with p and o so as to share around the costs and different choices on offer. looking forward to this cruise and am ignoring the doom mongers who like to winge about britannia. everbody else who is going this november have a great time and see you there :)

  5. hi helen, you havent said when you are going. we are on the britannia this november and we have looked on our personaliser and it tells us thomson, the flight number and terminal 2. i`d assume if you are going soon then you should also have this info. curious to know why you want to check your bags in day before?

  6. this might sound silly but when me and the wife want a swim together we dont go far from the sun lounger on the beach and i bury our cruise cards or a very small bag that we put them in under the sun lounger then if a passing thief wanted them (why would they anyway) they are not going to start digging are they. a friend of ours (dennis) tucked his down his swim trunks and on returning to the security barrier had lost it in the sea. he managed to contact the ship and got back on no bother.:)

back in grenada this year so i might look for it (grand anse beach)

  7. we are due to sail on britannia from barbados.we arrive friday but the ship sails saturday night, my question is this :- are the people who fly home saturday still on the ship and when we embark on friday will we be able to walk around and use the facilities or will they be out of bounds until later.

just asking as 2 friends who have never cruised before are looking forward to having a good nosey round before settling in to their room.we always take our time and go all around each ship we are on so we know where everything is.

  8. are you by any chance a quality control expert in your job. maybe you should just enjoy the cruise instead of looking at minor faults.the amount of people traffic on all cruise ships is enormous and therefore some wear and tear is expected. but we are going on britannia in november and would not want the impression the ship is about to disintegrate. surprised you didnt mention rats and fleas as well.be more concerned if water was coming in and the ship was sinking. you have now ruined my very expensive holiday and i am off to a dark room for a good cry :)

  9. hi everyone. this november we are on the britannia flying from manchester to barbados. this is our first fly/cruise and i was wondering about checking in at the airport. do you check bags in as you would on an ordinary flight and then just proceed through security or do P and O have staff that direct you around until you are at the departure gate. i am aware of the procedure once we arrive in barbados.thanks

  10. does anyone know the procedure for getting off britannia in barbados at the end of the 18th november cruise. our flight back to manchester is early evening. can we stay on board most of the day.i know our luggage will have been taken away but what happens then. we have been used to getting off cruise ships around 8-9 am. we are on our first fly/cruise.

  11. hi there,i`m a shorts and t-shirt man on holiday but it is really nice to get dressed up for dinner on a cruise. my wife loves me in a shirt and tie or just an open neck shirt.smart trousers are a must on an evening.

i dont like seeing guys not making the effort in the evening as they have the days on deck and on shore to do the shorts/vests.t-shirt thing.

come on guys, brush up and make your partners proud.

  12. 8 minute (eight) check-in from entering building to cabin.

someone needed a new watch for christmas, old one must have no minute hand.

no way even in a straight line on a motobike would you have got from the terminal up the gangway into the ship along a corridor presumably on the deck you got on,first door on the left, door already open.not even taking into account you have to wait til they retrieve your cabin cards and sign for your onboard account etc. :)

  13. flamin eck luv (i`m a yorksha man by the way) one should know that royalty do not carry money with them so ones answer to ones question is no. its part of ones final gratuity payment at the end of the cruise. bit embarrassing giving staff money as you go. hope one enjoyed the royal suite.:) :)

  14. dont worry about the azura reviews, its just like reading one awful review on trip adviser.people will big up any problems to get a response.weve been on 6 cruises now and each one has thrown up something that you wish could have been different but in no way does it spoil the holiday.if you listen to them then nobody would go on these ships.

we sailed on her to the fiords and had a great time.

  15. did you notice any building activity near the port when you flew in or when you arrived by coach.i`m concerned that you say that the check-in is a grimy hut. we cruise out of there next november and was hoping it would be well under construction by now.

hope you enjoyed your cruise though.

  16. yeh, britannia is homeporting in st lucia next year but i assume that people will get on in barbados and then some in st lucia like a back to back out of port everglades. glad you like the ship, i`m fed up of reading bad reviews about it.there`s no pleasing some folks is there. its basically the same ship as the regal princess weve just been on except its kitted out differently. these people that moan should wake up and realise how lucky they are to be on these wonderful machines.

we got fed up with sitting aroun d the same pool/beach on 2 week holidays so we tried cruising 5 years ago and we love it.

  17. thanks for all the replies about the port/sailaways. i thought i was going to be shot down in flames with my original comments.

its taken me 6 years of big in up cruising to our friends and finally they have booked up with us,britannia caribbean nov 2016. i cant wait to show them what its all about. of our 6 previous cruises with princess x2,ncl x2,celebrity and p&o, they all appeared amercanized (is that a word) :) apart from the p&o one. therefore i hope it will get off to a great start as i`m sure the rest of the cruise will be familiar to our previous ones regarding food, drink, entertainment, sunbathing, rooms and service.

just wish there was more updates on the port in barbados.it certainly needs an injection of modern infrastructure to it as i recall it being one of the most rundown sad looking ports we`ve ever stopped at.

  18. what is the present (old) port like for checking in.is it really old/tired looking or is it similar to fort lauderdale princess check-in facility.we are sailing next november from barbados on britannia with some friends who it will be their 1st cruise. hope it doesnt resemble an old shed.do you have to walk from this to the ship around the seabreak or do you get a bus to the gangway.

sorry to sound snobby but i`ve bigged up the cruise experience for them and dont want them to think the facilities will reflect the cruise to come.

also a little worried about those terrible rule britannia sail aways.so cheesy and typically brit abroad behaviour. had it on azura to the fyords.cringeworthy.

ps i am british but like to leave that thing at home whilst on holiday.otherwise go to blackpool or skegness. tin hat on ready for replies. :)

  19. hi everbody, has anybody recently cruised from barbados on any ship from the new or ongoing cruise port.its called sugar point and is supposed to be situated between the present port and bridgetown.their website is useless as it shows a computer generated image of what it will look like but not much of an update.its supposed to be finished by 2017 and apparently work was due to commence late 2012.

i am leaving there on the britannia next november and would like to know how its developing thanks.
