  1. Apologies if this exact question has been answered elsewhere. I searched but didn’t come up with anything definitive. My upgrade bids have not yet been accepted. I went to my account and wanted to change my bids today, however, one says “status pending” and the other says “status expired.”  I am not able to alter either of them. What do those statuses mean?  Thanks much. PS. My ship sails on July 25, 2021

Alternatively - sign up for Google Fi and set the phone up for it before you leave.  Fi will work internationally, including Greece, and will cost $10 per GB of data used (billed in MB increments, use 10 MB and pay $1.00), $20 for the base plan and calls outside the US are $0.20 per minute and you get a US number that you can give them to call you if needed or you can forward you current number to that in advance so they don't need to have a different number.

There was actually a thread on this service in this forum earlier this week, you could read more about it there.

Hallux, Thank you so much. This is very helpful. I’ll try searching for the previous thread. I missed it somehow. Happy cruising!

  3. Our US carrier (Cricket) does not have international roaming. When we get off the ship onto the islands, however, we’d need to find WiFi and I’d rather not waste time hunting around for it. (I have an elderly family member I want to be able to stay in touch with.) Do any of you have insights on purchasing a Vodafone SIM? Thank you in advance!

  4. Here are my top 10 - in no certain order

    1. Eating together with friends and family in the MDR each evening (when I don't have to cook or clean up, which is a bonus).

    2. A new ship to explore! (Breakaway)

    3. The best sleeping conditions in the world (inside stateroom where it is dark and cool, and I can sometimes feel the gentle movement of the ship).

    4. The drink of the day

    5. Bermuda

    6. Being on deck in the evening. I love listening to the waves and viewing the sunset or night sky

    7. Shuffleboard

    8. Nickel slot machines

    9. A lounger, with a book in one hand, a cold drink in the other, with no pressure to do anything or go anywhere.

    10. Having someone make my bed for me every day (it's the little things in life, right?)

  5.

Am I the only one who does not get it? Are the new "rules" about take out and room service really deal breakers for so many? Enough to drive you to another line or away from cruising if other lines follow? Or is this the new topic that will eventually go away?

Or is this just the straw that broke the camel's back... On the heels of so many changes? And have everyone rattled asking "what's next?"

Not a dealbreaker whatsoever. There is so much food available 24/7, and I don't have to shop for it, cook it, serve it, do dishes or clean up after it. Can't eat in my stateroom? No big deal. Will keep the room cleaner in the long run too.

  6. Have not been on the Dawn but we were in an inside on the Spirit. (We had a balcony on MSC Divina and actually prefer an inside cabin.) We get the best sleep ever on an inside. We've only used our rooms for napping and sleeping (or a brief change of clothes). The rest of the time is spent out and about on the ship. Some may think us crazy but we travel with 4 to an inside (with the bottom bed apart). The money we save we spend on activities and excursions.

  7. June 7 will be our fourth cruise (on our third cruiseline. Spreading the love around just a bit)![emoji6]

DH has always wanted to do a behind the scenes tour of a ship. I understand they offer something like that on the Breakaway. Do any of you know the cost? I looked on NCL's site but could find no info.

  8. I tried doing some searching of the NCL boards, so I apologize in advance if this has been recently addressed.

I know that Pepsi products are served as the soda package. When I look at the list of sodas offered, the only diet option is Diet Pepsi. I cannot have caffeine (cardiologist's orders) so diet Pepsi is out. Does anyone know if other diet sodas might be available (diet Sierra Mist, or diet Ginger Ale for example), perhaps behind the bar? I can stick to club soda, but that may get old. I'd love a caffeine-free diet option.

  9. Everything I read says the Breakaway's passenger capacity is 4000 people (double occupancy). I would imagine that many rooms have more than double occupancy. Does that mean that we may actually sail with more than 4000 passengers, or does NCL limit the passenger occupancy to 4000?

    Thanks!

  10. I stumbled upon a good deal on a hotel in NYC. GROUPON is currently offering rooms at ROW NYC (previously the Milford Plaza) in Times Square for $99 and up depending on your date and number of people in the room. We will be staying in NYC before and after our Breakaway cruise. For example, a room for 4 on June 14th is $160. We have stayed there before, and the TripAdvisor reviews are very good. Google Row NYC Groupon.

  11. There are 4 of us in our family. DH, myself, and our two children. The kids are adults (19 & 22). We have cruised 3 times prior to this. Twice in an inside room and once in a balcony room. In all honesty we prefer the inside. The sleeping is fabulous (very dark, quiet, cool) in an inside. No, there is not a ton of room, but we manage just fine. We camped a lot as a family so perhaps we are just used to close quarters. LOL! We do have to plan showers, but otherwise it works out well for us. The price difference between an inside vs an OV or balcony stateroom means extra cash for excursions, onboard ship activities, dining, drinks or shopping. There is always so much to do onboard that we are rarely in our room (the same proved true in a balcony room) except to shower or sleep.

To each his own. Everyone has their own priorities when cruising. :)

  12. On our last cruise on the MSC Divina, we were allowed to check out pool towels to take off the ship on our excursions. Our cruise card was swiped upon checkout and then swiped again on check in. Does NCL allow the same, or will we have to haul beach towels from home?

    Thanks much! :)

  13. I called NCL last week and prepaid our gratuities and purchased a soda package for the 4 of us in our family for a June 7 sailing on the Breakaway. When I look at our trip info on NCL's site I can see that the gratuities have been paid, but I can't figure out where to check to see if the soda package was credited as well. Does anyone know where to find this? Thanks in advance!

  14. Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to pass this along. If you go to http://www.gotobermuda.com/default/ you can order customized brochures from the Bermuda Tourism Authority. They will mail them free of charge to addresses in the USA and Canada (and I believe one other location, can't recall).

Like most of you here, we'll be visiting Bermuda for 3 days on a cruise. Trying to figure out the must-do and must-see things in Bermuda.

  15. How deep are the pools? I'm 5'2" and can't swim, it seems all the cruise lines pools are too deep for me to stand in with my head above water. I'm hoping MSC will be the exception. Thanks for the review, I'm getting more excited by the day. :)

I am 5'6" and had room with my head well above water, so I think you should be able to stand. Especially in the garden pool. Have fun!
