  1. :)I have scrolled these boards for hours and my patience is exhausted, so I’m hoping someone can help me out. I am looking for a post cruise in Miami close to restaurants and maybe shops. My mom booked a flight for early the following morning after we disembark. Just looking to make her day a little less boring, hoping she will have places close by. We are staying at Holiday Inn POM pre cruise, so we will be exploring the marketplace that day.

Thank you all for your help,

  2. We were delayed in October by a good 2 hours because of a group of 20 people that were late getting to port. I don't know the exact details, that's just what the captain came on and told us. We thought it was strange that they waited for them, but again, I don't know the exact reason for waiting. We did, however, get credit for the taxes we paid for alcohol while at port.

  3. Friends of ours are about to embark on their first cruise, we are also going with them but they don't know we are going. We have FTTF so we plan on getting on before them (crossing fingers we don't see them in the terminal).

What would be the best way to surprise them? I don't want to give too much info: ship, port etc, in case they found this website.

Thank you for your help, I appreciate anything you think of.

  4. We did it when we got off the breeze. We really liked it. It basically takes you on a tour of the city. You get off and on as you wish. We got off for some shopping and off again for lunch. Did some exploring of our own and then hopped back on. The tour itself is very informative. We had never been to Miami before so we had seen a lot of interesting places. They showed us Justin Beibers place and his yacht. And a few other famous people. It's worth it if you have time to kill before your flight. We had a 6:30 flight so we had all day.

  5. I am a parent, and I have always taught my kids respect. Under NO circumstances would I let my children run around like that. Our youngest is now 14 and we cruise regularly with him, and we have a ZERO tolerance for ridiculous behavior. People pay a lot of money for their vacations and I believe parents should be accountable for their kids.

That being said, we have cruised RCCL and carnival and we will always chose a carnival cruise before any other. Entertainment and service is far better on CCL.

  6. Is the priority tender only good for early tender? I read someplace that a FTTF guest went to GS when they were ready to get off and they were taken to the front of the line. If this is true I never knew this was possible. I never used it for tenders because I thought it only applied to being the first off on the tenders and I was ever interested in getting off the ship at 7:30 AM.

  7. For us, yes! The line at GS is enough for us. But if you have a port with tender it's valuable too. I do believe that with the staggered checkin now being implemented at the ports, more people will opt for FTTF. Unless they are lucky enough to get an early check in time.

  8. We too are considering the scenic ocean view on the conquest. I have sailed in many cabin locations on a ship but never this far in the front. I absolutely love the huge window. To be honest, I'm more worried about the ship itself. It was chosen because of itinerary, but the rest of our family has only been on glory, breeze, and dream. I'm honestly not too worried about it, it's vacation and we aren't at work. But I just don't want the rest of the family disappointed, or expecting something newish. If you know what I mean.

  9. Carnival is going to staggered boarding and will eventually include all ports. They explained it to me that you will be given a check in time and you will not be allowed to enter the terminal until that time. You can arrive before that but you will have to wait in line outside. You can check in after your given time., but not before.

This information was given to me from a carnival rep. She said it has helped with the port crowding.

  10. I have been on numerous cruises, sailed out of several different ports. Never have I been so disappointed as I am right this minute with Royal Caribbean. Thousands of us waiting to board at 12:30 pm. No announcements, no apologies. Nothing! Not impressed with the service here at All! People are getting restless, and irritated, thousands of people standing outside waiting to get in.

  11. It's definitely safe enough to walk to Anthony's a block away. For the 6 block walk to Riverside, it would be better to be with a group. You do have to cross one big street to get to Riverside, State Rd 84 (AKA SE 24th St.). Uber is available in the area too.

Thank you so much for the advice!!!

  12. The closest restaurant is Anthony's Coal Fired Pizza a block away.

It's not a steak house but most people like it.

The closest steakhouses are Bistro Mezzaluna and Outback, both under a mile away, but I personally wouldn't want to walk there at night; the main street has very heavy traffic and the side streets are too desolate, and there are a lot of vagrants around.

There is also a cool neighborhood craft beer bar a half mile south called Riverside Market South, on SE 6th Ave, that serves food, including excellent thin pizza.

I will keep Riverside Market South in mind! Is this safe to walk to at night? if so our group might choose this!
