  1. Ok, I don't hate you anymore. Emailed my TA last night and she was able to get the WOW sale and kids sail free promos applied and saved us $700 and scored an additional $100 OBC for us! Thank you for mentioning the sale and promo!

    That's awesome!! Congrats!!!

  2. You will lose your BOGOHO promo price if you want to take advantage of a price drop. They would reprice your cruise at the current cruise fare before giving you the price adjustment. You may find that your total cruise fare for 2 people will not be as attractive as your total cruise fare with the BOGOHO promo is.

Thank you, that's what I figured. I still think a price drop will be lower as I've never paid over $1200pp for a balcony. Fingers crossed!

  3. I recently booked a balcony room for 2 during the B1G1HO sale. The total price was what I would expect to pay even without the sale give or take a hundred dollars. I know they raised the price of the 1st person so the 2nd person would be "50% off". My question is this...when I am looking for a price drop, would I be looking for a drop on the total price (about $2400 for 2) or a price drop on just the 1 person ($1650), leaving the 2nd person ($825) the way it is?

I'm not sure that I explained that well or not, so I hope someone can help me!

    Thanks!

  4. Geez I HATE you....Just kidding. That's awesome. We have a Family Promenade booked for the same cruise at about the same price you are. We booked back in Feb, so we're not eligible for the WOW sale or kids sail free, as they're both for new bookings only.

I kinda hate me too! :-)

The rep on the phone told me that because of the sale I should 'cram as many people as I can in the room'! I'm considering adding a 6th person (we only have 5) because I only have to pay taxes ($93) during the Kids Sail Free sale. I can cancel them out later, but it may just be worth it right now. I can always cancel them out or change the name to someone else if I have to.

  5. I'm cutting and pasting my response that I posted in the other similar thread:

Just booked 8200 on Freedom. Because of the location (all the way forward- LOTS of walking), the room is HUGE...almost like having 3 separate rooms (living room, bunkroom, master bedroom) and 3 or 4 windows. With the WOW sale and 'kids sail free' sale, we got a FO for about $606pp. There are several youtube videos of rooms 8200 and 8500 on the Freedom Class- when I found it after a Google search last night I felt like I'd found a secret no one knew about and I couldn't believe they were still available for our April sailing- school vacation here in the Northeast!!! Good Luck!

  7. Hi I just returned from a 14 night cruise with Royal on which I took my niece. I had to provide hand written authorization and the wording had to be specific! (they have a form on which you can fill in the blanks required) It only needed to be from 1 parent preferably with same surname to make life simpler. It had to be backed up with a copy of said parents passport including photo or photo driving license.

    Hope this helps.

Hmmmm...that's interesting. I always thought BOTH parents had to give permission. I think it's to avoid one parent taking the child out of the country (maybe for good) without the other parent knowing. I guess I'll have to do some serious research (and many phone calls!) to figure this all out.

    Thanks!

  8. I hope someone can help me with this...

    Here is the scenario:

My brother just got deployed overseas for a year

My 15-yr-old nephew (his son) is staying with my parents for that year

His mother (my ex-sister-in-law) has joint custody

My brother has given my Mom power-of-attorney while he is away

During the time my brother is away, we (my parents and I) will be going on a cruise and taking my nephew with us

    Here's what I know:

In order to take him out of the country, we need notarized permission from his mother with all the specifics (dates, places, etc)

We need to get him a passport (my husband is a passport agent with the USPS, so I've got those requirements covered!)

    Here's what I don't know:

Since my mother currently holds power-of-attorney for my brother, does she still need to get notarized permission from him as well or is just showing the power-of-attorney paperwork enough?

    Thanks in advance!

  9. I just spent an hour booking our next cruise. Sooooo excited!! I got the room I wanted and used the Kids Sail Free and WOW sale to do it. We booked 4 people and were charged the 50% reduced deposit of $125pp. I just received my invoice and it says I still need to pay $500 by 8/22. Is this just a standard thing on the invoice maybe not recognizing the WoW sale Reduced Deposit? I'm panicking because I don't want to lose this room. Does anyone have any idea? I've been on the phone to them 4 different times today and don't relish the thought of calling back....again (and having to pay another $500).

    Thanks in advance...

    Melissa

  10. Sorry for being a pain, but I tried reading all 146 pages of this thread and can't keep up. I've been off CC for a bit, but ready to start looking for a 2015 Carribean cruise for our group. I've always booked our cruises this time of year, but I'm not seeing anything for the Carribean listed for anything past May 2015. Is that right? I was hoping to see some Fall cruise prices, but nothing is coming up. What is the general word around town about when they may be posted....please don't make me read all 146 pages....pretty please?!:eek:

  11. I just got this in my email:

    New Royal Caribbean Drink Packages

by Paul Motter | Monday, 18 Nov 2013

The mainstream cruise line now has packages from $20 up to $65 per day

Many cruise lines have experimented with drink packages onboard lately, notably Celebrity Cruises, sister company to Royal Caribbean. But the packages have been a confusing mishmash of "kids soda packages, adult soda packages, standard alcohol packages, premium packages, etc..."

Now Royal Caribbean has distilled the whole idea down to a simple four option menu for the cruise starting with a basic non-alcohol package for just $20 per person per day, up to a premium alcohol package at $65 per person per day for "virtuallt anything" a person cares to drink. by the glass, on a given day of the cruise.

The rules of the program say that each package must be purchased for the duration of the cruise, and that both adults in any given stateoom must have the same package (so there is no sharing).

As you can see from the chart below, prices range from:

$20 - non-alcoholic drinks (soda and coffee, etc.)

$40 - beer and wine only

$55 - all the above plus cocktails and frozen drinks

$65 - virtually unlimited access to whatever one wants to drink in a given day.

This does simplify things, but I honestly don;t know how popular these packages are... (the lines do not release such figures). I suspect they are limited in poularity at the top end, but the soda packages are pretty popular.

It looks like soda cards may be a thing of the past. My happy soda card just ballooned to $140 for a 7 day cruise. Not a happy camper on this one.....

  12. We always book 14-18 months ahead, but I've never looked almost 2 years ahead. I know they are open for booking until May 2015, but does anyone know when they generally open up the June bookings that far in advance?

We were looking at Quantum (no airfare required out of Bayonne) for school vacation (YIKES!) April 2015, but they have the 1st, 2nd, and 4th week open for booking, but no listing for the 3rd week. I thought it was odd- maybe they just haven't added it yet, or maybe the ship has other plans that week. I figured I'd look in June when school is out as well, but those aren't up yet. If anyone has any guesses, please let me know. Thank you!

  13. We cruised on Freedom in 2011 in an inside cabin and there were 2 pullman beds that dropped from the ceiling. They were convenient, out-of-the way, and the kids loved them.

We are sailing on Allure in October in room 3200, oceanview room (moving up in the world!) and the deck plan map says "Stateroom with sofa bed and third Pullman bed available". Does that mean there is only one pullman and the 4th bed is the sofabed? I hate the idea of tripping over a sofabed in the evenings and mornings as the rooms are not the biggest. It's not a big deal, I was just wondering if anyone knows for sure. Thanks!

  14. WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! After a week of reading I am finally done! I feel that mixed feeling you have when you read the final words of a really good book- sad that it's over, but happy that maybe you can get some laundry done and the house vaccuumed! :p

We are a group going on the Allure in October- so far there are 20 of us- and several first timers. I have sent a link to your review to all of them and told them they MUST read it! I was blown away by the pictures and descriptions of everything. When I saw the picture of the toilet paper I knew there was nothing you left out! THANK YOU!

There is one question I had. I know you are such a planner (as am I!), so I was wondering if you had an estimate of what you thought your expenses would be on the ship (that weren't pre-paid) and if you came out near that when you got your final seapass bill? You seem as if you are quite open to sharing prices of things, so I thought maybe this would be an ok question to ask.

Again, thank you so much for the fantastic review. It is bookmarked and I shall read it and refer to it several more times before we leave in October.

Enjoy planning for your next one...half the fun is in the planning!:)

    Melissa
