  1. I have a TD Aeroplan Visa and book with a U.S. Travel agent with no issues.

If you get the pre loaded credit cards, check the fine print. Last year I had planned to use Amex ones that I received as a gift. Then I discovered there were exclusions, one of which were cruises.

  2. Embarkation was fast. At curb 12:10 pm, on the ship.

Tasty pork chop dinner in MDR. My Time dining at 5:45 great service at two top. Made reservations for the week at the same table with Ray and V as our excellent waiters.

You got to the port at 12:10? How long till you were onboard?

  3. There are snorkel rentals at shipwreck and at cockleshell.

When I was at south Friars we had chairs at Carambola. Snorkelled there and saw starfish and turtles. We walked down to shipwreck. Ten minute walk. Several other beach bars with chairs along the way. Shipwreck beach area is very eroded and their lounge chairs looked very old and run down. We did not snorkel there, just had drinks.

  4. Glad to hear they have hard ciders.

Even if they do the five minute time limit that carnival does, it wouldn't take long for the two of us to build our own bucket of beer to take with us. Just as long as they will give them to us unopened.

Are the sodas that are served in the dining room considered fountain and part of the drink package or are they charged separately?

  5. Sailing rcl for the first time in March, on the jewel.

    1) what beverages are free at the buffet? Water, ice tea, fruit punches?

    2) if we get the drink package that includes speciality coffee and teas, are those available in the dining room or just at the coffee shops?

    3) are there coolers or hard cider in cans/bottles? Things like Smirnoff, mikes's, angry orchard or strongbow.

    4) will they give you unopened bottles or cans? Would like to be able to put some in the mini fridge to enjoy on the balcony later.

  6. We were there in the middle of March. We spent the day at carambola. Nice facilities, nice clean beach. Slow bar service, didn't have any food. We walked down the beach to Shipwreck to check it out. They are at opposite ends of the beach. In between the two are several other small beach bars that have loungers. Shipwreck was busier than carambola. We went up to the bar/table area. It was rather smelly up there. Lots of flies, yet lots of people eating. We ordered beers and walked back down the beach. The loungers didn't look comfortable and most of them were on a downward slope because of the way the beach was. A few of the places had sloping beachfront. Carambola was more expensive but had nicer facilities. You can reserve ahead of time at carambola, but not shipwreck. I believe the cab ride was eight dollars a person. Why not get dropped off at shipwreck and if you don't like it, stroll down the beach and check out the other places? It will be easy to get a cab back from any of them.

  7. Great review!

What was embarkation like? I've never cruised out of San Jaun, only Florida. Do you give your luggage to porters outside and then just take your carry on, or do you take everything with you through the check in process and then the porters take the bags?

For the Segway tour, did you get off them and walk around the fort, or just drive them around? Also, with the other stops in the tour, did you stay on the Segways the whole time?

  8. Here's the info I received from Shipwreck today.

Two chairs and a shade are $10us.

Sorry we do not reserve chairs and umbrellas ahead of time.

We have snorkel gear available for rental ($10us) and we have stand up paddle boards further down the beach, there are also other water sports at the opposite end.

And finally a bucket of beer is $15us, for 6 local beers.
