  1. Wow, purchase $5500 of stock for $100 OBC. If we lived near a cruise port and could cruise a few times a year, this might be an option. We're once/year cruisers.

I purchased my 100 when they were at $32. This April we're doing our 25th cruise. Almost got my money back in OBC.

  2. Let him take it up with his bosses. One way or the other he will be servicing my room twice, or his tip would/will be halved.

I imagine I would get my way as his customer. He is working for me. Some forget this group replaced the days of old, passengers bringing their own butlers on board. In fact, on some cruise lines, butlers still exist, but they are supplied to the passenger.

But ultimately, I'm confused why a cruise line would cut back or even touch a service we are paying the employee directly for. We pay their salary. The cruise line provides them room and board. The only conclusion I keep drawing on is they wish to cut back on the amount of this staff, and cram even more paying passengers onto a ship. I read somewhere, maybe even on this thread, that they are now proceeding to taking care of 35 cabins from 20 <rumor 101>.

I actually have a friend who is a room steward for Carnival. She recently told me that she now has to service 35 cabins. If she services her cabins twice a day taking 15 minutes each time, she's looking at 17 hours a day of running nonstop.

I think if someone wants to show their displeasure with Carnival, they should do it by not booking future cruises with them. But to think you're somehow affecting change by punishing individual employees by removing tips is nonsense. These may not seem like decent jobs to a lot of people, but to workers supporting their families they are. The quickest way for them to lose their job is not to follow the policies they have no control over.

  3. I've been playing the lottery everyday for the past 10 years. My neighbor bought his first ticket and won. It's not fair. I'm never buying another lottery ticket again.

I just don't understand some people's thinking. I cruise frequently, maybe I should get a free cruise. But, there are people that cruise more then me. And there are people that cruise less then me, but have spent more money.

Maybe Carnival should just give everybody a free cruise if they weren't should a greedy corporation.

  4. Hi! Thanks so much for your feedback. I booked my cruise early January under my married name, completely forgetting my passport is with my maiden name. We cruise a week from tomorrow, and I only realized this error when doing my online checkin. Is this going to be ok? We are leaving from Orlando on the liberty to the caribbean. Appreciate any help!

Just bring your marriage license with you to show your name change. Not a problem.

  5. Shore-to-Ship Communication

Effective 11/27/13: This service is no longer offered.

We know many of you would like an emergency contact number for family members not traveling with you. Therefore, in the event of a true emergency, loved ones may contact our call center at 1-800-227-6482 on a 24/7 basis. Our team will take down the caller's name and contact information and pass it on to our Guest Services team onboard so they can extend the guest a complimentary phone call.

This is the way it was handled when my Wife's grandmother passed away while we were on the Freedom. Guest Services was extremely helpful and seemed to be genuinely concerned.

  6. I see some of these on an auction website and have a couple questions - one gives the name of the owner and another one gives a promo code or something when booking the cruise - this cruise sails out of New Orleans on 5/24/15.

    1. It is legal for me to buy this as the auction says it is fully transferable?

    2. In spite of a name on it that would not be a problem?

    3. Would I have to pay an entry fee to get in the tournament?

    4. Could I actually get a discounted cruise giving the promo code listed on the certificate

Never saw or heard of this before as I basically play the slots betting pennies at a time if I can (and drinking wine). Any input appreciated!

I had won one last year and auctioned it off. All I needed to do was to send an email to Carnival with the name of the person I was transferring the certificate to. I had to sign the back and write the new owners name in. You can call and get the discount by using the promo code, although there were better options available at the time.

  7. We were on the Freedom in February, when my wife's Grandmother passed away. We were called to Guest Services and were told we needed to call home for a family emergency. They let us use their phones to call at no expense. Guest Services also called us several times after that, checking on us and to see if they could do anything else for us.

    Our family had called Carnival's 1-800 # .

  8. On my past three Carnival cruises, I emailed the respective maitre'd to ask for a table for 2. All three times, I got back a very nice email from the maitre'd saying they would take care of it. And all three times we had a fantastic table!

OP - I would email the maitre'd about 2 weeks before your cruise with your specific table request. I'm planning to do the same thing for my upcoming Breeze cruise.

On our last cruise on the Freedom, I had sent a request to the Maitre'd which he granted. When he came by our table I thanked him. He said that he only starts looking at the seating assignments on the Wednesday before the upcoming cruise.

I'd worry that 2 weeks may be to far out and the request could be lost or forgotten.

  9. FINALLY... doing the single digit dance... :D

And even though I have never sailed Disney, I am dancing to my niece and nephew's (2-year old twins) favorite theme song...

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

We're taking off, we're dancing now

Hot dog, leapfrog, and holy cow

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

If you don't know it, I PROMISE u it's worth the YouTube or Google search. LoL.

Hot dog, hot dog, hot diggety dog

    It's a brand new day

    Whatcha waiting for?

Get up, stretch out, stomp on the floor

Thanks a lot. Now I have the Mickey Mouse Club House song stuck in my head for the rest of the day.

  10. On this upcoming cruise, I booked a high category balcony cabin 8 weeks out so full payment was due. 4 weeks later the price for my category dropped $450. Called for consideration.....nothing offered except different location in the same category.

One week out, people on same cruise are getting upgraded (no charge) from inside to balconies.

May be our last Carnival cruise.

I don't really understand the reasoning to this. If I buy a car and a month later it goes on sale, I don't go back to the dealer and ask for a refund or an upgrade to a better car. I know I'm kind of comparing apples to oranges, but I book a cruise when I'm happy with the price. I don't check daily to see what others are paying for the same category room(except when I have ES) or what the airfare is at, or the hotel room......

  11. But did you follow proper procedure by first announcing, "Taser!Taser!Taser!" :D Happy retirement brother.

I would loved to have told him to stay calm as the 50,000 volts provided a little "medicine by Edison".

    Stay Safe
