  1. Does any one have any suggestions about riding down a steep Jetway or riding up one which presents another set of problems .....Like when you hit those bumps where the jetway is connected and becomes even steeper ~ Yikes !!

Also does the Scoot have enough Oomph to go up those steep Jetways ?? I am not exactly a Petite Flower :-)

I'm getting nervous as I have only be on my Travelscoot a couple of times ! I think leaning forward going uphill and leaning back going down hill makes sense to change the center of gravity but the big bumps on the Jet ways might cause a tip .....I have no problem just puting my foot down to catch myself if the Scoot tips but, I'm starting to think I might want to just get off it and walk it over those Bumpy things !

I already know NOT to ride it off and on the ship and to let staff carry it off, Thanks to everyone on this Board ~

It's the Gate check that has me nervous !

I'm sure once we get a routine down and we have done it a few times it won't be so ominus ! It's a lot of trial and hopefully not to much error~LOL

Yes, Yes, Yes just get off it and walk it over those Bumpy things

You will NOT have time to "just puting my foot down to catch myself if the Scoot tips"

  2. Thanks for the info. Did you just ask for a special amount of time, or did he have a tour that you used? How much time do we need?

Bully will work with you. He will customize your tour to what you want/need.

We wanted very little walking. We did a three hour tour and saw nearly everything on the island.

  3. The ramp in question was on deck 10 (I think) going from inside to outside.

It was very short & very steep.

At FLL, when getting off the Noordam there was one very long fairly steep

downhill ramp. I did a combination of almost dragging my feet and really riding the brakes

all the way down. A little scary but no problem.

  4. Just finished my first cruise with my new TravelScoot.

Tipped it over once on the ship.

Be careful on ramps, walk it.

Lots of people had questions. Mainly how long the battery lasted.

Lots of people had envy in their eyes.

My cane fits perfect between the brakes and the handle bars.

HAL canvas bag works great on handle bars for holding things.

Has anyone checked a TS in with the porters for delivery to cabin?

    In or out of bag?

  5. Thanks for all the good info. I have an evergo, where do you put it on the Travel Scoot, basket or? Does Travel Scoot have weight limit?

Yes the TravelScoot has a weight, bu many people who are above the limit use them all the time.

The real concern is center of gravity, IMHO.

Will it fit in the bottom?

My husband and I are seasoned Carnival cruisers but are starting to branch out and test the waters on the other lines. We are currently booked on the Freedom of the Seas for Octoner 2013 and am wondering if anyone here has been to Labadee as one of their port of calls. We really want to do the Castaway at Malfini excursion, however it shows a weight restriction of 250lbs. I posted to the port of calls and have been trying to reach RCI via the live chat today to get more info.

We are both over the 250 restriction but just really want to know what the restriction is for. If it is for their lounge chairs, that's fine, I'll be in the water the whole time but if it is something else, I'd just like to know.

Thanks in advance and thank you to the OP for creating this thread.

RC's restrictions are set by the tour operator, not RC.

RC does not know why the tour operator set the restrictions.

    RC does not care.

Book the tour and see if the tour operator rejects you at the tour.

BUT if the tour is something like zip lining, I would skip it for safety concerns.

    Just my opinion.

  7. Our first TravelScoot has arrived.

It has been put together and tested.

Will order a second one plus two chains and one extra battery when they are back in the office.

    Will also order:

the original (can be easily cut to any shape)

1.25” of ultra-plush supportive and pressure relieving WonderGel. Its low profile makes it perfect for car travel, turning your drive from awful to amazing. Also great for your office chair, home furniture, and anywhere else that could use that extra comfort! From

  8. Sorry for bringing up a old question, but my cruise is next weekend and I'm still contemplating taking my chair and was wondering if anyone has done this and if so, do you recommend carrying it on or putting it with checked luggage? I thought I had read somewhere else that they don't allow this anymore? Also attached is a picture since the link is no longer good.

It would only be out on my balcony when I'm using it and would be folded up in my room when not in use.

Again, Thanks for any advice in advance!

I have NOT done this, but I do have one. Very heavy & sturdy.

I say bring it and put it with the checked luggage.

  9. I am a very fluffy person but enjoy swimming and sun bathing. My problem is I can get on a lounge chair but have problems getting up because they are so low to the ground. When my hips are below my things, I have problems. Does anyone know of a portable device I could use to help get myself up. I have though of canes but not sure they would work or hold my weight.

    Any suggestions?

A carbon fiber heavy duty cane is light and should hold your weight.

Mine works great and they custom cut it to the length that I need.

The web site where I order mine had normal & HD-X long.

  10. ...

Do they have the tutti salad on sea days in the MDR?

    ...

Best interior cabin? we are looking to go Jan 2013.

    Thanks for all your help!!!

    Yes Salad.

Cabin, it depends on what you need.

To avoid the motion of the ocean, be in the center of the ship.

Top to bottom. Front to back. Side to side in really bad seas.

Stabilizers do a good job but sometimes …

  11. That's great about the Ferry and scooter accessibility. One more question - if my friend brings a scooter to Hamilton on the ferry, will she be able to get around OK? For example , are there some curb ramps or will she have to get off scooter at each curb? (She can walk but not for long distances) I think we will hire a driver for Sunday, see the island and maybe do a brief visit to St George's, and then on Monday do Hamilton via Ferry which will work well. Appreciate the info!

I am touring, for the second time, with Keith Simmons <keithsimmons@logic.bm> with my power chair.

  12. We want a taxi tour of Bermuda for 4 of us in late April - only problem is that my husband is fairly large and has problems getting in/out of some vehicles. What type of taxis can we expect? (what type of vehicles?) Do any of the ones recommended here have a vehicle easy to get in/out of?

    What date?

    Check out Vernon's.

  13. Once in the water, you will be able to stand much longer.

I have taken my power chair on excursions, on private tours with HC van.

I have left my chair with security (a little scary).

I have regretted not taking my chair.

I have canceled excursions because I realized I could not do them.
