they will take you dad to where ever you want him to go- the pool deck or the windjammer. then you will have to get him to his cabin when it is available. (I would go get the scooter and bring it to him)

as far as getting off the ship they will let your know where to meet and they will take him of the ship in a wheel chair thru luggage and customs and to

    the outside area.

    hope this helps

  2. I agree on the charging the scooter every night. I almost ran out of charge on an excursion. so

now I bring the charger with me on everytime I leave the ship.

I agree get some practice before you go. if you can handle a scooter with the big baskets you will have no trouble with a smaller scooter.

I travel solo so I have no one to hold the door open for me to my cabin so I bring along a couple of door stops to prop the door open to get in and out. I keep the door stop in the basket of the scooter so I know where it is.

    hope this helps

  3. I have stayed in jr suites and had a scooter. I was able to get the scooter thru the door but it wasn't easy. just go slow and straight in. the biggest issue with a jr suite is the bathtub. it is elevated and I found it difficult to safely get in and out of.

I did move some of the furniture (table esp.) to make more room for the

    scooter.

  4. I actually did the Bermuda excusion a last yr with RCCL. Again we stopped at a couple of places where we couldn't take the scooter off. at the smallest draw bridge and at the light house. they did take the scooter off at st. George for a 30 minute break. I did enjoy the tour because I was able to see a lot of the island. I will be returning to Bermuda in October and will try

to do the tour again. (different tour guide different information)

I am sure RCCL and celebrity use the same tour company

  5. the special needs department is very slow in responding. it usually takes

my TA several calls to get any excursions I want booked.

I will warn you just because you are signed up for one of their "accessible" excusions doesn't mean it will happen. on the last two cruises with celebrity I had all but one "accessible" excursion cancelled once I was on the ship for various reasons. The one excursion I did get was not accessible at all- I was left on the tour bus while others were able to get off to walk around. the reason I was told was it would take to long to unload and load the scooter because we would only be at each site for 10 minutes.

    hope this helps

  6. I was on the connie a couple of wks ago. I think it was their first wk.

I had a massage and it was wonderful. there was no pushing the products

which was really nice. I thought they were a bit pricy and they had no

specials since it was the first wk. would I go again- oh yes.

  7. I was on the 4/4 equinox cruise also. I did talk to the lady about the dog. I asked where the "bathroom box" was located and she told me that they used

puppy pads for the dog to his "business". well as most of us on the cruise

know he did his "business" where ever he wanted. that dog was not a

service dog and should not have been allowed on the cruise.

  8. I have difficulty walking so I stayed on the scooter while in port. I was able

to drive the scooter on and off the ferries without any issues.

I did find most of the shops at the dockyard accessible. I was able to get in and out with any problems. I did keep the controls on turtle mode so I didn't make any quick moves in the stores. I did find Hamilton not as accessible so gave up and went back to the dockyard.

I did not check the plugs but I did see people with their laptops plugged in so I assume it would be safe to plug in the scooter but not totally sure.

I think you will be fine on a full charge. I tend to run the scooter on rabbit

when I am on the sidewalks which will drain the battery quicker.

  9. sorry I can't help with the accessible washroom issue. you can probably do the dockyard area in four hours. personally I didn't think the craft market was worth the effort to go. I did enjoy the glassblowing company the rum cake is in the same building as the glassblowing. the clayworks is a few doors down. I did find the clockwork tower a fun place to look around

and get out of the sun for a bit.

  10. I have been to Bermuda a couple of time with a mobility scooter. the first time I took the ferry to Hamilton. it was pretty easy to get on/off the ferry but I found a lot of the shops in Hamilton were not accessible.

the second time I stayed at the dockyard area. I did find that there weren't

many street cuts but I did find a lot of places accessible. I enjoyed the glass blowing shop. and I went to the shopping mall.

my suggestion is to watch where you are going. I was watching some feral chickens and not paying attention to where I was going and ran off the sidewalk.

the other issue I had was I really drained my battery. the first year I barely made it back to the ship. the second time I was more careful. I now take

the charger with me in case I need to take a "rest stop" and charge the battery a bit.

I truly enjoy Bermuda and will be going back in October.

    I hope this helps

  11. I have a Samsonite spinner and I find it does well on tile and hardwood floors but I stlll have trouble on carpeted floors at the hotels. but I think most spinners don't do well on plush carpets

  12. I traveled with my husband several time while on chemo. hydration was the biggest issue. we did order the water package so we could keep track of his daily intake.

also bring all her meds she uses to control her chemo symptoms - Zofran, pain meds, Imodium things like that. talk to her chemo nurse she might have some suggestions on what meds to take. I always carried a list of the chemo drugs my DH was taking and what drugs he took daily in case he were

to get sick while cruising (luckily that never happened)

you might want to bring Lysol wipes to wipe down the cabin- esp. phones, remotes door knobs. I agree lots of hand sanitizer.

I would request a shower stool- even if it won't fit in the shower she can use

it to sit on before/after her shower.

on some of the rccl ships they don't allow smoking on formal nights so she might be able to go on those evenings.

I hope she has a great time.

  13. I would try to stay away from a cruise that has a lot of tender ports. it can

be difficult to get in and out of the tender. last time I tried it I fell into the

    tender (even with assistance).

you might consider a cabin more mid ship than forward or aft.

I also agree an accessible cabin would be helpful- esp. with all the grab bars

in the bathroom. I would stay away from cabins with bathtubs. the bathtubs are higher than normal tubs and can be difficult to get in and out of.

security is pretty painless- they usually just do a quick pat down and always

    by a female security person.

I usually cruise celebrity or rccl and they have always been helpful.
