  1. For us it always depended on which class ship, because of galley location.  On the Edge class it is a no because you don’t really have a MDR.  You have the 4 different restaurants and I don’t believe their galley is shared with Blu.  On Solstice class we’ve never had a problem.

  2. I agree with fellow cruisers. The Fjords rival Alaska to me.  Breathtaking views and amazement of how a cruise ship can sail into some of the ports.  As mentioned Flam and Geiranger are great ports.  And if the cruise goes north to Tramso, Norway you cross the Article Circle.  Amazing trip!

  3. The reason they don’t make the Anniversary martini anymore is that it was made with a special Grey Goose vodka, Grey Goose VX which is not made anymore.  You can buy it on the secondary market for $600 a bottle.  It’s smooth and I have not brought myself to drink the last bottle I have that I bought on the Edge in 2022.

  4. We always did the chef’s table and it was great, but this past cruise on Silhouette with the new menu was not great.  We opted for the special wine pairing which were excellent but another $70+ added to the charge.  But the wines I have no complaints about.  When we sail next month back on Silhouette, we will not be doing chef’s table.  We opted for a chef’s excursion in Copenhagen where the chef takes you to different food halls during the day then at night prepares a special dinner catered to the foods/dishes of the country.  We find these much better than the new chef’s table menu.  Did one in Estonia that was great.  It’s limited generally to 10 people like the chef’s table. So intimate and charming.

  5. We sail in 21 days and they are not sending out luggage tags.  You can print them in your cruise docs when it’s available.  We have clear luggage tag holders the size of the tag and you just slide them in.  Not sure where DH found those.  Have a great cruise!

  6. My favorite part of the packing cubes is being able to place them in the shelves above the the bed in my cabin.  That way, your clothes don’t fall out when you’re trying to grab something out.  Never have to unpack them, just get the cube you need and put it back after getting out what you want! Great for shorts, shirts, PJs, etc.!

  7. Certain high end watches are price fixed, for instance Breitling and Rolex.  The shops whether on board or on shore cannot go below 12% for instance, or they lose their license to be a retailer for the brand.  But yes on large purchases, celebrity does report them to customs that are made on board.  We were tagged for my DH’s watch and even though we paid no taxes, we had to pay duty.  The duty was lower than the tax, but the sales rep never told us about the duty portion.  We came out okay, because though he couldn’t discount the watch, I negotiated for a large sum to spend at the other stores on board.  Seems they’re all run by the same outfit.  Was able to get myself a Bulova watch and some other trinkets.  Like some others have said, negotiate.  If the price can’t be lowered, perhaps other extras can be thrown in!

  8. We’ve done both of these and both are unique in different ways.  The Fjords are some of the most breathtaking views I have ever seen.  Great hiking adventures if that is something you like to do.  More varied in ports as well.  We did private tours in Iceland which were great. Also, loved the part of the cruise that covered Ireland.  We are doing that cruise again in August with our daughter and SIL.  You can’t go wrong with either one.  There just different!

  9. We also love the anniversary martini, however Grey Goose VX is no longer made, so I wonder if they are just substituting regular Grey Goose.  The VX was regular Grey Goose infused with Cognac.  Trust me, I bought up every bottle in my area I could find once I found out it is no longer available in the US.

  10. Love Murano, but looking forward to Eden this January.  But one of the best was a culinary tour we had with one of the chefs when we did the northern Baltic cruise and stopped in Estonia.  The chef took us ashore to a local food market and picked out fresh ingredients.  Then we got back to the ship and he prepared us a six course dinner of local favorites!  It was fantastic.  And as always looking forward to the chef’s table with the new menu from Chef Boulard.

  11. We are doing that cruise on August 29, 2022.  We’ve done the cruise before and you will not see the northern lights at this time of the year.  It does not get dark enough as others have said.  We did take a tour and our tour guide also did tours of the northern lights, but she said the best time was really Dec through February in Iceland.  But the Ireland Iceland cruise is an awesome cruise! Good luck and enjoy!

  12. We had the same issue. If you buy anything on board over $900, celebrity automatically has to report it.  You are flagged and will have to pay taxes upon entry.  We ended up paying a tax on his breitling. Had we known, we could have bought enough it on shore fore the same discount. Breitlings are price locked like Apple products.  Dealers can not go below a 12% discount.  But for OBC you can buy something like a nice perfume you always wanted or apple products since they are also price fixed by Apple. Never have trouble spending their money!

  13. It seems most people do not want to get dressed up these days, but we like the opportunity to be formal and dress up.  We typically dine in Murano on any chic night and dress to the hilt.  It may not be for everyone, but it is one part of what makes fine dining so special.  I do notice that the servers do appreciate the effort!
