  1. I have two $100 Princess Gift Cards that I will be applying to my Onboard Account upon boarding to be used onboard.  Are these gift cards considered "Refundable" or "Non-Refundable" Credit (like the Stockholder credits....Use it or Lose it)?  If they are considered Refundable Credit, how will any remaining balance be returned?

  2. First of all, I am wondering why you even booked an "Excursion/Beach Day" at Mahogany Bay. The ship is DOCKED at Mahogany Bay and you can just walk off the ship and walk to the beach or pay some ridiculous price to take the sky ride which will be maybe 3 minutes long.

Because the Bay is so narrow, the ships that go to Mahogany Bay have to "back in" to dock. If the weather is bad or too windy, they sometimes have to cancel because they are unable to dock.

We've been to Roatan at least 6 times and the beach at MB "looks" nice but we prefer docking at Coxen Hole and taking an excursion from there. So much easier and much better options in my opinion.

Got a strange email for our upcoming cruise on the Sky. It mentioned our excursion was incomplete. We had booked a beach day at Mahogany Bay. Looking at the itinerary (screenshot attached) it now says undefined. I know there's a huge Carnival ship in the same day we are. They've known for months that these two ships would be in the same time. I know they cancelled this port on the Regal not too long ago and to be honest, if they substitute a day at sea I'll be pizzed. I never would book this itinerary with 3 days at sea - not the Western. I'll make the best of it of course but it won't go down easy.

Thoughts? Anyone get note that there cruise changed?

  4. I am booked "Standard" (no Plus or Premiere pkg).  I ordered the Medallions to be mailed to me.  I even have the Order # but I don't know how I pay the $10 for them.  Will they deduct $10 from my credit card for use on board?  Or what?  So confused!

  5. My husband and I both received a separate email this morning asking us to order our medallion for our upcoming cruise that would also put us in the Green Lane.  We DO want to do this and are willing to pay  $10 for the privilege...I am assuming since they will be sent to the same address, the $10 is for both of us not each of us?

     1.  When I go into the NEW Medallion app, it says I have already ordered the Medallions for both of us on Nov 26. I don't remember doing that but maybe I tapped on something I should not have?!?  The app did not ask for a payment and none was made.

    2.  The App shows my husband has a checkmark by his name and he is "Ready to Sail". I, on the other hand, have only "Completed 6 out of 7" requirements.  The one thing I have not and will not complete is the Shoreside Credit Card information to be "stored for future payments in accordance with their terms"...uhhh, no thank you; so I am not in the Ready to Sail status.

Can anyone advise me what to do or who I should call?

  6. Memory here:  Back in the early 90's, we took a 14 night Baltic Cruise on Royal Caribbean. Our 15 year old son sailed with us.  There were about a dozen teenagers onboard from different countries and from day 1 became a tightly knit group.  Our son shared our cabin with us but we usually went to bed/sleep before he came back to the cabin as the ship sponsored teen events until midnight. One morning we awoke and found our son had not come back to the room! We were getting ready to go out and look for him when he strolled into the room around 7 AM. Turned out the "group" decided to spend the entire night talking and sleeping on the pool deck on lounge chairs. He said once or twice a crew member would come by and check on them but never said they had to leave. To this day, he still says that was the best cruise he had been on.

  7. I was one of the people who booked on the Release Date for the Dec 29 10-day cruise because I have FCC that has to be used by Dec 31. Since we live in Texas and we can drive to Galveston, I pulled the trigger and booked.  In the coming weeks, I'll be watching closely for any price drops that might come along. The last thing I wanted to do is fly to The East or West Coast right now.

I'm cruising up to Astoria in a little over a month. What was your favorite thing there?

When we ported in Astoria, we rented a car and drove to Canon Beach and explored Haystack Rock. It was low tide and we could walk all the way out to the rock and see some of the marine life on the rock.  Then we drove down the coast further south, found a beautiful park and ate a picnic lunch we brought from the ship.  Fabulous day.

  9. I, too, am very happy to announce our Option 2 Refund showed up in our credit card account this morning.  The actual "post date" from Princess was May 15 but did not show up until this morning, May 20, on our statement and we have checked for it Every.Single.Day. for weeks now.

Princess cancelled our March 26 Crown Princess TA cruise on March 12. We chose Option 2 on March 12 with confirmation on March 13.

We received the Cruise Fare, EZ Air, Princess Vacation Insurance, Port Fees and Taxes.  I will have to contact the Princess gift card people for the $200 we used at final payment for a new card (I threw away the original gift card as I thought why do I need to keep empty cards?!?!).

Also, no 50% FCC in either of our Princess FCC Accounts, but I'll wait a few days before I inquire about that. I'm just thrilled we got what we got as I was seriously having doubts.....

  10. Cruise Date:         March 26

Cancel Date:        March 10   I cancelled because I was at 75/25% CFR penalty

Cancel Date:        March 12   Princess sent Option email

March 13   Received email confirmation of Option 2 Refund + 50% FCC

Status:                  Zero, Zilch, Nada for Refund or FCC

Also had EZ Air and Princess Vacation Protection.

Used 2 Princess Gift Cards at final payment in December. I threw gift cards away - didn't know I had to to keep them - nothing was noted on gift card or packet they came in, nor did CSR tell me to keep them when I used them at final.  Spoke to Princess Gift Card people, they said any refund would go back to original cards....even though I don't have the original cards. They couldn't (or wouldn't) give me the card's numbers or pin numbers. Then how do THEY apply refund to original cards?

I'm thinking alone the same lines. However, for those ships going over the Europe, they will have to be allowed into ports over there.

    What do you think?

We were booked on the March 26th TransAtlantic (Repositioning cruise) for the Crown to start her Mediterranean season. Of course, it was canceled. With both Italy and Spain still showing huge numbers of C-19 cases and deaths, as well as most of Europe and the UK, I think the European season is kaputz.

  12. Late on Thurs, May 5 at 11:14 PM I received an email from Princess; Subject was Booking Notification. At first glance I didn't see anything different from my current Booking Confirmation. After reviewing it the next day I noticed a new line item had been added at the bottom that said: Onboard Credit Adj: $15.97 (per person) with no other explanation.

Then on Friday, May 6 at 1:35 AM, I received (what everyone else has received) another email with subject: New Cancellation Policy Changes.

The sailing is the March 26th TransAtlantic. My husband thinks Princess already knew they would be missing a port and the Onboard Credit Adjustment is for the a port charge credit...speculation only.

Anyone else get 2 emails like this within hours? Any thoughts would be appreciated. I could call Princess and ask but I really don't want to be on hold for 2 hours to ask a simple question.

  13. Even before receiving the email this morning, we had decided to cancel our March 26th TransAtlantic to Barcelona cruise.  We will cancel before or on March 11 as that's the last day to get the 25/75% option. We have the Platinum CFAR insurance so everything should go smooth according to previous posts.  We also purchased Princess EZ Air which should also be Refunded or EZ Air credits????  We purchased seat upgrades to Economy Plus for $500 directly through United after the EZ Air flight had been ticketed. I assume Princess will not be responsible for our upgrades. My Questions are: When Princess cancels the air what happens to our upgraded seats? I am assuming they will go "poof" as soon as EZ cancels the seats and we will be out $500. Has anyone else had any experience with independently purchased upgrades and a canceled EZ Air flight? I plan on contacting United this weekend to see if they will refund our upgraded seats also but was hoping someone has had some experience in this matter and how it turned out.  Thanks.

I suppose it might be better than nothing against other peoples germs but I'll be darned if I'm going to rewash my hands because I sneeze.

I've come to accept that traveling during flu season I'l going to catch something.

With that kind of attitude, not only will you probably "catch something", you will also be spreading whatever you do catch to everyone else on the ship.

As a physician, I strongly recommend hand washing vs. the alcohol based sanitizers in any situation- including my practice. So, to answer the question by the OP...No, I don’t think it should be mandatory to use the hand sanitizers prior to entering the restaurants on the cruise ship. Just use common sense and wash your hands prior to dining. Speaking of which-does anyone know which ships now have the actual wash stations outside the dining areas?

On the Caribbean Princess there are many hand-washing stations in the buffet. Attached are a couple pictures. The water is motion activated so you don't have to touch the faucet. They are kept spotlessly clean.
