  1. the price difference is nothing compared to the enjoyment you get out of a verandah. You may find you wake up early just to enjoy a peaceful morning listening to the sea and sipping a mimosa (you are on vacation). As someone else said, evenings under the stars on your own balcony.....nothing like it. A verandah adds another dimension to your stateroom.

  2. ok, it's only been 2 years since our last Dream vacation and I see the alcohol policy has changed! I like my morning mimosas so i will be opting to bring champagne aboard (within my limits). I just want to be sure I am not missing something regarding alcohol delivered to your cabin or some drink package offered, other than wine and beer. Thanks.....

  3. You guys have to think like a business owner and not with your hearts. massive company comes calling and wants to send lots of paying customers your way? As a small business owner, he (LFK owner) cannot say no to that. I myself am not a business owner but look at it from their point of view. A few may give less than stellar reviews, but if I had to guess, the large majority of cruisers search carnival.com for excursions and not CC, tripadvisor, etc. like we all do and will never see the bad reviews on here, only the ones on carnival.com's shore excursion page.

All this doesn't mean I disagree with your concern, just playing devil's advocate.

I have no problem with a small guy making ends meet….charging $98 a person for minimal amenities (meaning limited kayaks, chairs, etc) and it's not even all inclusive! 2 drinks per person? I just don't think it's good business to sell out and continue charging premium rates.

  4. well, after reading the same negative review I too got uneasy about spending $98 per person for a 3-4 hour adventure o a tiny little island that I am expected to share with 300 others! Yes, that was the response I got when I asked how many they limit to access…..that is way too many for me. We are sad we missed the 'private' days when it was reserved for a minimal few. Sounds like they got greedy…..I highly doubt they have enough accommodations for all to enjoy the privacy and amenities of such a small place. We have opted for a beach area at west bay, if anyone wants to share a last minute suggestion I would appreciate it.

  5. CC has sandy roads and small eateries and cabanas and is a funky little island. I remember reading a review from a couple who stayed at Colinda's Cabanas and that was very informative, look for that on tripadvisor dot com. Or just google Caye caulker, Colinda's...

Gocayecaulker is another site you may want to check. Not a beautiful, manicured island by any means. But we found the water views from the Lazy Lizard to be absolutely stunning.

We enjoyed an excellent lunch at LL, local beers were $2US, and the Lizard Juice was $5 and 2 can share that. Not a problem having kids there during the day, the restrooms are a short walk but they are visible from the bar.

We took the San Pedro Express taxi and the schedule is posted on their site. We arrived at 8AM ship time which was 7AM Belize time in Feb. so we had plenty of time to make the 9AM Belize-time taxi. Not sure if ship time will be 1 hour ahead for you or what.

cayecaulkerwatertaxi dot com has a 10:30AM Belize time departure and the prices are lower, I believe that's just a little farther down the street past San Pedro. But the San Pedro taxi worked great, and we enjoyed just walking the street and relaxing at LL, very low key day!

color me stupid but for the life of me I can't figure out the San Pedro taxi schedule…..they all relate to chetumal mexico

  6. If you look at the first few pages of threads you'll find these answers. San Pedro Express is just outside the gate in the port and very easy. We (2 couples) really enjoyed our day at Lazy Lizard.

we had Goff's scheduled but thinking we would rather do the water taxi to Caulker and find a lunch spot and shop….from the looks of it I am thinking it is much like the bahamas, which we love! I am thinking this is the port we really want to mix with locals and chill. Where is a good lunch spot? We have our 10 yr old with us, is there enough to see and do outside of lunch and a few beers? also, can you give me a little guidance to the whole taxi and timing, we are in port from 9-6.

  7. well, we're still debating over this excursion…we leave saturday! DD wants to see the animals, I want the beach and clear water, DH wants snorkeling…seems like we would all get what we want but it's still up in the air as to whether it's worth the 4 hours we will get on a short port day….considering just going to west bay, alternatives?

  8. the most recent review of this excursion 'Belizian Beach Break' through Carnival claims they did not go to Banister Island as depicted in the picture (nowhere do I see Carnival stating the excursion goes to Banister Island) so not sure what to think….

  9. We really like Carnival's Liberty and Valor and want to find a similar class ship amongst other cruise lines. Which ships would be similar in class and size. Without spending hours of time researching the boards I thought it would be easier to ask….if you had to compare, which would you choose and why?

  10. depends on the behavior of said child, and more often said parents.

Kids get ramped up from time to time, no doubt; had two. Majority of parents today let their kids push the envelope until someone steps in. That person usually then gets an earful.

Major issues include, but are not limited to:

*using the hot tub as a kiddie pool. No longer enforced on most ships.

*jumping into the pools and bringing toys other than water wings. See above.

*running full speed through the halls, unassisted. Lump this in with hitting all the elevator buttons.

*on the breeze, because what passes for the sports bar is merged with the casino, gamblers had their kids back and forth between the two.

Keep the kid behaved, makes for a fun time for all. Have a great cruise!

    well said!

  11. …..as a private destination I can handle the $88 BUT, my question now, to those who have gone to LFK, just how much area is there to share? If carnival herds their busload to this little island is it going to be too crowded to enjoy? I am beginning to think $88 per person is too much too share the island with the rest of the ship!

  12. interesting……..didn't think anyone else did this! We have collected a few on our cruises, going to western caribbean next week-end and would like to pick up at least one. Can someone share info to pick one up in Belize or Roatan? thanks…..

  13. ok, I googled it on satellite, just wanted to see how similar the beach areas are. We went to Paradise Beach one time and did not like it. Way too crowded, dirty pool, and the crowd was not our scene….and the people working there were rude. I would NEVER go back there. When we got back to the ship we talked to several people that did mr. sanchos or nachi cocum….everyone we talked to liked them both. I researched both, reading reviews and it seems the major difference between the two is Nachi limits their entry and is a little more laid back whereas Sanchos is more of a crowd in a party atmosphere with lots of activities. Both beaches are beautiful! While we might try the inflatables it would not be a highlight nor would it be a deal breaker if they were not there. That being said, my thought was if my DD wanted to play on the inflatables would it be close enough to walk down and pay for it at one of the other clubs. After checking the port schedule I believe there are 5 ships in port the day we arrive….I think it will be crowded everywhere.
