1. I am now concerned…we have chosen Nachi for our AI, someone please speak up and tell me our 11 year old will be happy there….seeing that Mr. Sanchos has ping pong and other activities that my DD enjoys makes me wonder….does Nachi have the same?

  2. Oh yes, does Cozumel ever get boring?! Maybe, but it hasn’t gotten boring for me yet! I told my mom that DH and I went to Nachi Cocom and I would love to go somewhere like that again. I read up on Mr. Sanchos and decided we should try them this time.

First we decided on breakfast! Of course…

We walked of the ship and into the Caribbean heat, which I love!! :p

My mom needed more batteries for a camera so we stop in one of the stores and then we were on our way to the cab area.

I believe the cab ride to Mr. Sanchos was $16. The drive was about 15 minutes. Sanchos was just as beautiful as Nachi. Matter of fact, I could see Nachi a little ways down the beach. When we arrived, we were greeted with a lot of whistles. Those guys sure do love to flirt.

it's been a while….but out of curiosity, which did you prefer, Nachi or Mr Sanchos? We are a family of 3, me DH and DD, planning on Nachi as we prefer a quieter location….since you have now done both thought you could share the pros and cons of both. We did paradise beach club last time we went….it was a huge disappointment.

  3. yes, got one about a month ago. It was address to DH and was good for an inside cabin for two, port fees and taxes are extra as well as upgrades (if available) and 3rd, 4th parties (adding friends or kids). There should be a VIFP (?) number on the 'voucher', it is a temporary number assigned for one use. I went online and looked at what was available, we opted for a 7 night western caribbean, added a third person and upgraded to a balcony, the total was $712.

  4. we leave in 21 days and I can't wait to try one! The last time we sailed Liberty it was right before the 2.0 upgrade. so excited to have all the new venues this time. 5-Guys is ok for a thin patty fixed your way, but I prefer a little more meat…..…hoping Guy's is a meatier burger.

  5.
I hate to bust your bubble but there are major chair hogs on the Serenity Deck. It never ends.

Also, not to be rude, I don't think that chairs should be freed up just for parents with kids. They should be freed up for everyone. There should be no special privileges for people just because they have children. Sorry, that's JMHO. By-the-way, yeah I do have a kid and I've never thought I was more entitled to a chair because of it. However, in the kid's pool area...yeah, I'd say I'd be more prone to leave those chairs for parents of small kids. But in the main area, by the main pool...not so much.
I never said I expected anyone to get out of a chair for me because I am a parent, you missed my point entirely.
  6. Hi Lily,

I responded to your other post but I thought you had booked Goff's through the ship. I see now that you are going through IM.

There is a sandy area at LL but not a proper beach. People sit on a towel in the sand and get into the water (from the dock) to swim and snorkel but it's nothing like Goff's or Water Caye. And the water taxis are also fully enclosed.

I understand your concerns and wish we could help.

If you have time I would look at reviews on tripadvisor for Caye caulker. There was one a few months ago from a couple who stayed at a cabana and had a beach, not sure how nice it is. But there you could learn about the beach and snorkel situation from folks who are experts on CC.

    Sorry not more help!

    thanks....I'll keep researching!

  7. thanks bguppies…I just ran across some older posts you commented on, I am leaning heavily on Nachi….we went to Paradise one time and it sucked, for many reasons! The water was stirred up that day, a storm had just moved through, amongst other things it just wasn't a good experience. I think the pool and the limit on people allowed in are swaying my decision….looks much more peaceful than Passion Island.

  8. At $6-7 per drink (margarita, etc.) and $4-5 per beer, plus $2 per water/soda, plus food, you can easily exceed Nachi's $55 AI fee at other beach clubs. Never been to Passion Island but it would be had to find a prettier or more relaxing place than Nachi. Good luck! :)

the best part about Nachi is they limit the number of people that can go….considering there are upwards of 5 ships in port that day I can imagine Passion Island will be packed! Although it looks amazing I really dislike being limited to the cruise timeline….done the herding thing before and I know how much time gets wasted on being with a large group. Can you share you experience at Nachi? How was the water?

  9. our 2 choices for Cozumel are Nachi Cocum and Passion Island…both look appealing. Nachi offers unlimited drinks :) and good food, from the looks of pictures the beach looks nice, but that depends on weather, plus pool and toys. All in all a nice day but I hate taking cabs, not sure why, I just do. For this reason I am contemplating Passion Island to avoid the cab and ride the cat, much nicer IMO. My dilemma, it appears only one drink is included in the passion Island package, if this is the case, can you buy more and how much do they cost? I have a budget as we are planning excursions on 3 of the 4 port days….it adds up for a family of 3 (can't imagine the costs for you guys with big families). Snorkeling would be a bonus but not necessary as we are going to Belize and Roatan for snorkeling. Two important factors we must consider, cocktails/beer, we like our drinks, so if we have to factor this extra cost in it could affect the budget. The other is the water, DD does not like the sea grass, I know this can be an issue anywhere, depending on the weather….so the pool at Nachi is a good plus for DD if this is the case. Would anyone that has had the experience of either or both care to comment?

  10. I don't think most people mind you going to get something to eat. It's the people that get up at the crack of dawn and place towels/ books etc on several chairs then go back to bed.

This is the definitive 'chair hog'. I understand going for a swim, grabbing a bite, or even running back to your cabin for something....leaving your chair for a brief period is not the issue. Those 'saving' chairs are just plain inconsiderate, selfish and immature.....reminds me of my days in elementary school.

  11. obviously a bone of contention when it comes to cruising rights…several of you have made comments that ring true. My dilemma is this….I have a 10 year old, she spends most of her time in the pool or on the slides, for obvious reasons I feel the need to be, at this point, at least within eyesight of these areas. This is where I have a problem. For us it's not about being in the center of the action, or facing the right direction or wanting to be close to the pool….for us it's about monitoring the safety of our kid. If you are simply looking for a place to drop your things then do us a favor, find a remote spot that won't rob a parent of this duty. In the meantime, as we dream of the adults only area, she is getting older and we are comfortable moving a little farther away from where she plays, freeing up those chairs for parents with younger kids, it's a consideration, kinda like leaving the parking spaces up front for the handicapped……..:o

  12. I read that Carnival made an attempt to police the chair hog problem…..it's been awhile, what is the current situation? I have been back on the boards for a few weeks now and have yet to see anyone complaining about the chair hogs. Is everyone tired of beating the dead horse or did Carnival succeed with their attempt to put a stop to it?

  13. I'm guessing the foam cups aren't allowed because they could get blown around. If you look around, you'll notice that there aren't any foam cups, paper cups or paper plates used on the ship. The ship's staff has enough to do without chasing trash all over the ship.

I noticed this on carnival ships but disney has paper cups at their soda fountains...…and I never saw 1 floating around the deck or anywhere else. Does make sense though.

  14. I booked with Island Marketing, I RARELY book through cruise line as the one time I did it was like herded cattle and a total waste of precious time. I have had good and not-so-good experiences with outside tours. I try to do a thorough job reading reviews and researching options, getting much better at the whole planning thing. My first time to any port is always nerve racking, I am one of those psychotic planners that needs to find the most unique place at any port because I never know if I will make it back….fortunately we are not thrill seekers and just finding a beautiful spot with sand and water is all it takes. We are true beach bums….i will stick with my original plan as it is the shorter of the two distances for boat travel. Did you post pics in a review somewhere?

  15. Really enjoyed our day last week on CC, the 45 minute water taxi is very easy and inexpensive at $45/couple roundtrip, just walk out of the port area and walk to the left for the San Pedro Express water taxi. We were in port 10 hours and spent 4 hours on CC followed by a couple hours in the port area of Belize. You can also fly between CC and the muni airport not far from the port area but be sure to allow for taxi time.

We enjoyed relaxing at the Lazy Lizard, beer was $2.00 and the burritos and nachos were excellent. The girls had a Lizard Juice ($5 each) and loved them. The LL is a 10 minute leisurely stroll from the water taxi pier, and we took a golf cart taxi back for $10 for the 4 of us. You can also find some very nice rosewood and mahogany carvings at shops along the way at reasonable prices.

We've been to Goff's Caye and enjoyed the beauty there. This visit we wanted to relax while seeing something different and we all enjoyed the day. There is no proper beach at LL, but the water colors and views from the upper deck at LL are stunning, and the people there are very friendly. We watched as guys filled their small boats with sand in the Split for a nearby homeowner's beach. They filled the boat until it appeared it would sink, but they disappeared around the far end of CC still afloat! We also saw a dog swim the Split with no problem and climb the short ladder out of the water.

Just a nice, relaxing day with amazing water views where you can also swim, and we would recommend this for singles and couples and even families during the day. There are a few spots to lay on the sand,on the nice pier, or at a table and enjoy the day.

Blue_ we are currently booked thru island mktg for Goff's Cay, but I am reconsidering and thinking about CC instead. I have 2 major concerns, the kind of boat we take to Goff's Cay…I hear it is enclosed and that could be an issue for my DD depending on the size of it. I looked at going through Carnival because it looks like they use an open CAT for transport, of course that could be a stock photo they use. Have yet to get anyone's response on this. can you offer up any info that may help us decide which place to visit? On CC you say there is no beach at LL, is there access to a 'beach' anywhere? Or is the split the only access? We definitely want a little beach time, lunch and cold beer/cocktails and snorkeling…….Goff's Cay looks amazing but the whole CC experience sounds awesome but I haven't seen a beach there to compare. Any thoughts or suggestions?

  16. I booked this but now having second thoughts because of the boat that takes you to the island….my daughter can not be in an enclosed boat she will get sick, seasick meds do not work for her so that is out, she has to be in the fresh air. It appears the boat the cruise line has is an open cat, can anyone comment on this? thank you.

  17. If you are on a ship with the Red Frog Rum Bar or the Blue Iguana Tequila Bar they sell the Tervis Tumblers with their logos on them, I plan to buy one of those. I also purchased 2 Carnival logo (Platinum Gifts) tumblers on eBay cheaper than I could have bought 1 in the store. There are usually some listed if you might want one of those.

soooooo good to know! I love collecting tervis tumblers, just got one on my last Disney cruise….will definitely leave mine at home and buy one of these.

  18. we will be in Grand Cayman (crossing fingers) the end of March. last time we went to Calico Jacks, liked it but the beach was very narrow and the rentals were not budget friendly. This tie we thought we would look into a resort day pass, so far the only resort I can see that offers one is the Palms. Unfortunately we have a 10 year old, not allowed in the pool due to 'legal' issues…..what is that about?

  19. we booked the tour directly with l.f.k got about 41/2 hours we left the island around 1:30 . Its a great time just fyi it is a bit of a walk out of the port you walk up a big hill threw the gate then down the hill . They drop you off at the gate.

    thank you!
