  1. Since the restart we haven't been getting the surveys. On a recent cruise we were talking to the Hotel Director and mentioned it. He looked into it and found out our email was marked that we opted out. I don't know how that happened, but he had it changed.

While you would still have to call in or talk to someone about it; hopefully it will be easier if that is something they know to check.

The additional issue is the description of the food was frequently incorrect.  Much to my delight a chocolate dessert at dinner one night turned out to be the RCCL flourless chocolate cake!!

Do you remember what they called the chocolate dessert that turned out to be the RCCL flourless chocolate cake? It's one of our favorites.  Thanks!

No...no reservations needed.   Could prepay, but we never do....just pay as you enter.

    B2B?  😉

I parked in that Terminal 6 lot 11/5/2022.  7 nights.  $105.  I don't know with certainty, but I don't know why you would not be permitted to park in that lot for back-to-back cruises, because you'd pay for the totality of the days parked there.  There's probably a telephone number listed on the website where you could ask that specific question.  I did not reserve in advance, and because I had an 11 a.m. boarding time I arrived at 9:45 a.m. and the lot was maybe 1/4 to 1/2 full.  Not all disembarking passengers had left the ship yet due to a delay.

    Thanks for the great information!

There was a small card on the desk in our cabin the first day asking if we wanted to receive the Cruise Compass.  I wrote "YES" on it and our room steward put one on our bed each evening.

I really like the idea of a small card to indicate that you want the compass. It would be great if there were a few other common requests listed and space to add anything else. We typically want one extra pillow and may need a few more hangers; with the room stewards being very busy on turnaround day this would be easier than trying to track them down or leave a message. I know we can just leave a note, but it feels like it would be easier for everyone to have a common method.

  5. We like late traditional dining (8:00 or 8:30) for a few reasons. We don't want to hurry back from ports to get ready for dinner, we do everything later on a cruise including sleeping in and staying up later, and we like the traditional dining so we don't have to wait in lines and can always just walk right to our table.

Love that they have options for early, late and MTD so people can pick what works best for them!

The parking ramp is attached to the terminal.

Enter the ramp, go up to the second floor and stop by the elevators to give the porters your luggage (you can't miss them), then go park.

When you take the elevator down from the parking ramp, it opens on the other side so you're literally on the sidewalk in front of the terminal.

No shuttle, no dropping people/luggage off first -- just enter the ramp and do it all from there.

Excellent; thanks so much for the great information!

  7. When parking at Terminal A for Royal Caribbean, is it a reasonable walk to the ship with your luggage or do you need to take a shuttle?

Also, is it a good option to drop someone off with the luggage at the ship, park your car and then join them?

    Thanks!

  8. Just saw this update on the Royal Caribbean protocols:

    https://www.royalcaribbean.com/the-healthy-sail-center/getting-ready-to-cruise

Required Pre-Cruise Testing for Cruises Departing Before September 13, 2021

All guests age 2 and older — regardless of their vaccination status or the length of their cruise — will need to take a COVID-19 test (PCR or antigen) with an accredited test provider, such as a drugstore chain or diagnostic lab, no more than 3 days before arriving at the terminal and show their negative test result upon arriving. The results can be printed out, or can be presented on your phone, such as the email result from your test provider. Costs associated with this test are the guest’s responsibility.

Required Pre-Cruise Testing for Cruises Departing September 13, 2021 or Later

Guests departing on or after September 13, 2021 will need to meet the new requirements recently issued by the U.S. CDC.

    • Vaccinated guests age 12 and older must show a negative COVID-19 test result for a PCR or antigen test taken no more than 2 days before boarding.
    • Unvaccinated kids age 2 to 11 must show a negative test result for a PCR test taken no more than 3 days before boarding. Antigen tests will not be accepted.
    • Guests under 2 years of age will not be tested.
    • The cost of pre-cruise testing is the guest’s responsibility.

Have questions about which tests are accepted?

  9. We were told it is due to the reduced capacity on the ships. When sailing with increased numbers of passengers, dinner in the WJ will be back. I don't know what percentage of capacity it will take to open it for dinner, but it makes sense to not have all that food and staffing with the ships at such low capacity.

On the Odyssey it worked well to have the staff serving the food, and they were great about cleaning tables and serving you drinks at the tables.

  10. We got off the Odyssey yesterday. The Diamond Lounge was great; the concierge and servers took really good care of us. It was typically very busy when the happy hour started, we loved that we could go to another bar to have a drink with a voucher and wait until about 6:00 to go to the lounge because many people would leave for dinner. Even with the reduced capacity to allow for distancing, we had a great time talking to others.

We loved the flexibility of the vouchers for location and choice of drinks.

You always had the option to show up early to get your preferred location if you didn't like the preferred seats so you have neither gained nor lost anything with this change. This is a loss for those of us who were quite happy with the reserved location.

Thanks; I hadn't thought of it that way. I agree it is too bad for those who liked that location and the new way isn't a big advantage.

One benefit which we are disappointed about the change is the reserved seating.

We always used to arrive 10/15 mins before the start of a show knowing we could sit in a good seat.  But now we have to arrive 45 minutes ahead of the start of the show - really??

I remember many years ago as cruising newbies we arrived 30 mins ahead of a show to ensure we had seats we liked - so now we have to arrive even earlier than we used to i.e. 45 mins to select a seat?

That is a benefit enhancement how exactly?   Does anyone ever go to a show 45 mins before the start?

    Have I misunderstood this enhancement?

Or is that just their way of removing a 'perk' which we used to find very valuable?

    Disappointing

    Jean

We didn't like where the reserved seats were, so we like this much better.

  13. Thanks for sharing this; it looks like an easy way to submit the request.

I typically email the request so I can submit a list of cruises with one request. They usually reply with an email stating it has been applied for all the cruises listed, or include any details if there are any that could not be applied.

    The email address is ShareholderBenefit@rccl.com

I include an attachment with my brokerage statement and have a list of the cruises with ship, date and reservation number.

I hope this option is helpful for those who have multiple cruises.
