+1 for Lighthouse
We just finished a cruise in June and used Lighthouse for the first time.
They have covered and open parking with shuttle service.
Also, they said they take competitor's coupons so I got lucky and found a promo code via google that saved a few bucks a day on parking.

Thanks for the posts and great suggestions.
Better yet, I was directed to a forum I never even knew existed!:D

I didn't see a recent thread for this so maybe it will help someone else out too.
What are people's favorite recommendations for parking for the week in Galveston? We are driving in from Houston.
We have a cruise coming up June 28th on Navigator.
Thanks all!

Note 3: So far on this B2B cruise, we have been able to connect everywhere, except for about an hour just west of Jamaica. But speed is not exactly like from home, at least not on the Navigator. On average, our download and upload speed has been around 128 to 256 kB per second, not much better than old fashioned dial-up. Using Skype or YouTube has been out of the question.
I'm going on the Navigator in less than 2 weeks. The rates would be acceptable if the connection was reliable. I'll have to flip a coin when I get on the boat I guess...

That would be "Wonderful" indeed.
We just booked a New Year's cruise starting at the end of 2016.
-
We sailed her last year. I'll look for your review.
-
Looking forward to reading the reviews as well.
We are booked for June in a GS.

I did one last March, 2013. I remember it was incredibly hot and humid so keep hydrated.
I run daily these days but that 5K was among the toughest.

I've never had a problem with kids in the CL. They are usually well behaved and don't stay very long. Seems like a strange reason to leave a cruise line altogether!
Agreed, the kids are usually well behaved and I never minded them and they usually don't mind me:p

Thanks for the update.
Makes me more interested in getting a plan next Spring Break.
-
I didn't expect Disney to come back to Galveston and missed them the first time.
Thanks to this board I'll be checking their site to see what the offerings are.

In a similar question and asking for opinions- how much does one tip the bar tenders and staff?
-
I've encountered MANY more rude and obnoxious adults on cruises than I have screaming toddlers. The elderly curmudgeon who ran over my 13-year-old's feet with his motorized scooter, turned around and gave him a dirty look and kept driving without even an "Excuse me", the fat cow who shoved my 10-year-old to daughter to get in front of her in the Windjammer, and on and on and on. Screaming toddlers are the least of my cruise worries. I'll take a crying baby ANY DAY over someone who should know better.
Agreed:D

Thus the reason I have more RCI drink cups than I have Tupperware in my cabinets :D
Or there would be a huge market for used cups on ebay.
anyone remember when they used to sell Subway sandwich stickers on ebay???

Wow, good to know.
I wonder if that is going to spread to the other ship if someone on board on chime in.
I've got something to look forward to in the distant future.

Doesn't if feel good?
Money is money.
:)

Congrats!
For me, the concierge lounge is well worth it- and more when it's free. :)
My wife doesn't really drink but she had a good time trying the different mixed drinks they had. The finger foods weren't bad either.
The extra space in a GS is nice too- we travel with 2 small kids and it helped!

Agree with the other posters, depending on your length of cruise and people in your room, the gratuities will be a big chunk- its about $12 or $14 or so /per person per day depending on whether you are in a regular room or suite.
FYI, on our cruise on the Oasis, we were able to check on the TV control how much we were charged daily to see how much we had left.
We had about $600 OBC on our Oasis cruise and I looked at it as a cruise with free gratuities.
Either way- congrats on all the credit hope you have a good time!

I'm confused, doesn't the promo say new bookings only?
It would save me some on currently booked reservation but I wasn't going to bother calling b/c it said for individual new bookings somewhere in the fine print. If they are giving it on existing reservations, does that mean we have to test every promo to see if fine print legit?
Here's my story.
Saw the email about the sale today and called my TA.
They were on the phone for 54 minutes- I know because I was waiting too. The TA managed to get me a $600 discount on a current booking because RCCL knows it would be too much of a hassle to cancel and re-book the exact same thing. RCCL had to ok it with the manager or something hence the hold.
Off topic.
This is red hot thread right for something started just over 24 hours ago. Wonder what the record for topic activity is...

Ignore the negative posts, I'm new to posting too and find it better or easier to just move when I see a post that bothers me...you placed enough disclaimers in your postings to me make me think you've done a lot of informed consent forms in your field...:D
-
From what I remember, there was a posting about it in the activity sheet the night before we were to arrive at Castaway Cay. We then showed up at one of the ship's clubs the next morning around 7am or so and walked off to the starting line as a group on the island. There really wasn't a sign up.
things may have changed since.

Wow, great story with a good ending.

When I did it last year, the crew members who led us to the race site where waiting for us at the finish line to hand out the medals.
For me, it was a brutal race because of the humidity. I've run marathons less harsh then that:p

Thanks for the link. Never knew about this and just bookmarked it to play with.

I did the whole Target Gift card thing in the past and never knew about this idea.
Googling found the site for others to make it easy:
