  1. We are looking at H4 stateroom on the Getaway in September. Will the 2nd bedroom sleep 2 adults comfortably? Daughter concerned that bed is small and someone would have to sleep on 'bunk' bed that pulls down from ceiling.

Does anyone have and pictures of the 2nd bedroom that has is ready for bedtime?

    thanks!

  2. We are looking at booking a last minute cruise on Norwegian Pearl, March 2 2018 out of NOLA.

The Pearl is scheduled for Cozumel on Sunday. I just checked and both of our favorite Cozumel beach excursions (Mr Sanchos and Nachi Cocum) are closed on Sundays.

Does anyone have any other suggestions for excursions in Cozumel similar to Mr. Sanchos or Nachi Cocum?

    Thanks!

  3. We are platinum on both Disney and Norwegian. We were part of those dissatisfied when Disney abruptly changed their alcohol policy after our final payment was already due. They severely restricted their carry on policy where they were previously quite generous (which was one of the ways we rationalized the higher price).

When I wrote an e-mail in displeasure regarding that topic, I actually got a call in response from a CRM in Karl Holz's office who told me, "We like to think that people pay more for the Disney charm."

That's what you're getting for more money: Disney charm. Guess many put a hefty price tag on that. We are no longer among them.

I couldn't agree more. We have sailed 20+ times on DCL and really enjoy it, but the increasing costs and new alcohol policy have us cruising more on NCL. Our children are now drinking age and when I asked my family if they would rather do 7 day Disney Fantasy this year or 7 day NCL Escape, everyone immediately choose NCL. Good thing for me, we sail in 3 cabins (6 adults) and I saved over $6000 and we have UBP!

DCL is a better product, but its getting harder (almost impossible) to justify the price for the same ports and shows.

    DCL Advantages

Castaway Cay - We LOVE Castaway Cay and was really hoping that Harvest Caye would be similar but friends and family tell me otherwise.

Service - We enjoy seeing the same cast members and always received something extra and maid to feel special

Adult Only Areas - We have sailed 4 times without children and we loved it! DCL does enforce the adult only pool area, clubs, and the adult beach (Serenity Bay) on Castaway Cay

    Complimentary Room Service

On Board Booking Incentives - 10% off next cruise and up to $200 on board credit

Entertainment - IMO, shows are better on DCL and great choices for movies

Food - regular dining rooms are much better on DCL. Palo and Remy are outstanding premium options.

    NCL Advantages

    Price

UBP - No beverage packages available on DCL and sudden change to old alcohol policy pissed off a lot of folks.

    Casino

Late Night Entertainment - More options available on NCL, DCL ships are pretty much dead after midnight.

These views are simply my opinion and your mileage may vary. Either cruise line is a great vacation and it always beats a week at the office

I still feel this is the best vacation you can take and I see many threads here advising you what to take with you. I advise you NOT to take these with you, stress, anger , poor attitude. Allow yourself to go with the flow . Relax, unwind and take time to watch the beauty of the water, the storms off in the distance, a beautiful sunset .

You have a great attitude and the right perspective on cruising.

  5. Well according to google maps FLL is 40 mins from the cruise port and MIA is 20 so I am guessing FLL, of course that depends on a myriad of factors traffic, weather etc.

Also you must be checked in 45 Mins prior to your flight, not waiting in line, so a Sat morning at a S. FL airport if you are not DM or PM I would say the line would be what 15 mins at least ? So add a hour for check in, 10:45 AM departure means you need to be in line at 9:45, 40 mins from the cruise port so you need to be in a cab at 9 AM.

What I don't understand is if you are so experienced why you would ask this question ? You should know what everyone on hear will say, relax and take a later flight.

I ask this question because I wanted some information.

As stated in my original post, this is our first sailing in/out of Miami and wasn't sure what the actual logistics would be. We've only sailed out of Port Canaveral and New Orleans. The general rule of them is to not schedule a flight out of Orlando before noon when sailing out of PC, but we've often been sitting at the airport at 9:30 AM waiting on flights.

I have access to Google Maps and noticed the distance and estimated times, but was hoping to hear from someone's real life experiences. How crowded is the Port? What is the traffic like on Saturday morning at the Port of Miami.

  6. I appreciate all the warnings and advice. We are experienced cruisers and understand all the risks.

Would still like an answer to the original question.....

Which option gives us best chance to make flight assuming we are one of the first to debarK?

    10:00 AM out of Miami

    10:45 AM out of FLL

I know FLL is further away, but wasn't sure it it was worth the extra 45 minutes for later departure.

  7. Heeeeeyyyyy!!! Full-on discovery mode.

That stairway-to-nowhere that I mentioned in post 4716... goes to a hidden door beneath the stairs.

I can't imagine what's in there. Maybe Lazlo won the cruise sweepstakes. (I'll be embarrassed for anyone that get's that)

The good news... I'm not dying. I just figured out that the lights dimming is from the lighted elevator bases.

Lazlo? Wasn't he a 'Real genius'?

  8. I had a private cabana at Serenity Bay on Castaway Cay. I can tell you the food that is free was from the buffet and we paid for our alcohol drinks. The fridge was stocked with complimentary water and soda and had complimentary sunscreen.

The cabanas at CC are more expensive than $500 and are not enclosed, do not have a bathroom and doesnt look nearly as nice. Although I would do it again lol

We had a cabana on Serenity Bay back in September and it was $399 +tax. Well worth it.

My point about the food was that ALL food on Disney's Castaway Cay is free. Steaks, chicken, burgers, dogs, fruit, and ICE CREAM!
