However, our Panama Canal holiday cruise (FLL to LAX) was $1800 LESS per person and a 1 category upgrade to a superior veranda from a classic veranda.  Awaiting our advisor's confirmation of the discount since we only had a deposit down.

Thanks to @taxatty for starting this thread!

So I just received an email with a new rate for my holiday panama canal cruise.  $5000 less but I have to stay in a classic veranda.  I'm fine with this outcome.

  2. I never received an email though we will be first time SS cruisers in June.

My already paid for June cruise from NYC to Quebec City is $700 per person more expensive at the new "sale" price.  It only has two classes of rooms available on the Dawn left though, so perhaps it is selling well enough to not warrant a sizable discount.

  3. @jgmc If you did go on the shadow for your cruise, could you please comment on the internet?  I assume it is starlink and basic is spotty and premium is excellent, but would prefer to hear from you on your experience.

However,  if it's only the closet space that is the issue,  you could request a hanging bar over the tub and a platform for shoes covering the tub.  That is the configuration we requested via our travel agent to Silversea Guest Services.  It works beautifully for us.  There is a photo on this thread of the set up.   You might search in this topic for "hanging bar".

Found it and it looks like a great solution.  Thank you!

  5. @mysty  Looking forward to our first Silversea cruise on the Shadow in June.  This thread is epic and your cruise looks ridiculously fun!

Sorry to ask, but thought even if you weren't staying in this particular cabin or one around it on deck 9, I was wondering if you had any comment on this thread that has no responses (other than mine today):

I'm particularly interested in this due to the placement of the suites just below the pool deck.  Hearing scraping deck chairs at 6am isn't my idea of relaxing sounds.  🙂

We're already looking at booking the Shadow for the panama canal in Dec 2024 as well.  Not sure my wife is ready for a veranda suite closet (nor am I!).

Smooth sailing and following seas the rest of your voyage!

Picked up the requisite 100 shares back in 2009 for something just shy of$15, and have used it a couple of dozen times, so I'm not complaining.

It is 2 twins together but with a single Queen mattress on top. it must be the 66 inch wide queen because at home we have a king bed and we have no problems on the Silversea bed whereas we do in US hotels with a queen bed.

    Thank you!

We ended up booking before their Memorial Day sale ended.  NYC to Quebec City June 2024

How wide are twins? Cause that's what the "one" bed is, 2 twins pushed together.

    Thank you for the response.

It depends.  American or European twin beds?  Yeah, those are different too.  Assuming the narrower European twin, then the bed will be 66" wide.

What's odd is when I called and asked a SilverSea representative, they claimed that they were not two twins pushed together but rather one "queen" mattress (no dimensions available).

  9. Sorry to barge into the discussion, but having sailed neither line, this thread has been informative.

I was somewhat surprised to see that veranda "suites" on both lines have what appear to be queen sized beds.  Are those "european" queen sized beds (66 inches wide by 80 inches long) or American queen sized beds (60 inches by 80 inches long). I can sell the european queen sized bed to DW, but not an American queen sized bed.

    Thanks!

  10. We're also on the May 3rd sailing.  Flying to San Diego Monday morning so we can spend some time on the USS Midway.  Also spending an extra day in Vancouver as it was cheaper to stay an extra night and fly the next day than fly home on a Friday.  Works for me!

  11. The train and bus rides were pretty long. Loved the train ride!

This is the quandary I'm in. I don't fit bus seats without quite a bit of discomfort (I'm tall, not wide). It appears that the only way to ride the train north is to then take busses south. I'm going to have to start searching for alternatives...:(

    Great info on the hotels/transfers!

  12. Just an FYI......Since this thread was started over a year ago and "drumline13" hasn't posted on CC since October 21.2010, you may not get an answer. However, you may just want to go back to the original post and write directly to any of the specific companies they had listed and see if you can be helped that way.

I sent an email to Princess and one day later we were contacted by Global Arts with instructions on what to do.

Fortunately, we had saved a box from one of our many art purchases and the print fit! FedEx will be picking it up tomorrow (paid for by Global Arts).

While it is an inconvenience, at least Princess and Global Arts are handling things pretty well. I feel we should have been contacted about it directly, but this is the second best way to deal with it...
