1. Hello all, thanks for a great site and forums!

First of all, I know I'm "a bit early" with my question, but guess I'm already just so excited!

Ok, so I'm doing a transatlantic with my fiance on Quantum of the Seas next spring and was thinking of taking a car service (Dial7 etc.) to Cape Liberty from Wall Street area where we are staying the night before. The departure is 5 pm on a Saturday, and from what I've understood, you have to be all set onboard 90 minuted before. I hate nothing more than being in a hurry and worrying whether I'll make it or not, so I want to be safe.

So what kind of schedule would you recommend? I was thinking of ordering a car to hotel around 1 - 1.30PM. The median driving time should be around 30 minutes, right?

I'd order the car for NO LATER than 12 noon! The ship may sail at 5:00 PM, but the final passenger count is due earlier.

It may take 30 minutes with NO traffic congestion; but there will be traffic congestion!!

  2. Wow, you've sailed enough without your husband ever going with you to obtain Gold, Platinum and Emerald? We'd never sail that much without each other, but to each their own...

Yes I have; 3 cruises so far; 2 more I'll be Diamond & all five will be without my husband.

He will only do one cruise per year from NYC; so I see him when I get home.

  3. The husband calls C&A, says he has a new wife, and C&A links the two accounts. The wife now has the husband's level. Once she has that level, she can book with or without the husband and still have that level.

The only thing I'm not sure about is if the new wife has to have at least one cruise before she can be linked.

My husband has NEVER sailed with Royal Caribbean. On my first Royal sailing I registered him with C&A. He has received a C&A notice for Gold, Platinum & Emerald levels as "I" earned them.

  4. That response is just wrong...celebrity does not, as far as I know, control what travel agents give...that's between the TA and the customer. I would push back and ask where it states in writing that the Amex benefit is contingent on what celebrity offers you. You may be on a path to talking to your states consumer protection agency. Of course if it is documented then they can do whatever is documented.

My travel agent gives my "gifts" in check form NOT OBC's. Upon my

return from each sailing, a check is waiting for me! This works for

me as I earn points for my on board purchases!

  5. We will be staying at the Staten Island Hampton Inn the night before our cruise (Sept 7). We have scheduled with the hotel shuttle service from the airport to the hotel and from the hotel to the cruise port. The night before the cruise we would like to take the Staten Island Ferry to Manhattan to go to the 9/11 memorial. Our hotel advertizes shuttle service to the ferry. Our question is how reliable the hotel shuttle service will be to and from the ferry especially later in the evening. Should we depend on it? Also, should we expect to be able to catch a taxi later in the evening when we would be returning to the hotel. Suggestions would be appreciated.

I have no idea about the reliability of the shuttle service; but you will be able to catch a cab/car service at the terminal; even if it's late!

  6.
He is treated equal. Everyone else on that ship also gets the same benefits.

The day I complain about only getting free wine in the platinum lounge, please just shoot me.

When I earn platinum plus then I will get the higher perks on all ships.. looking forward to platinum plus which I will earn, not whine about only getting free wine and some dry snacks.

I sat at the dinner table with some folks who were diamond, I think it was Voyager.. you should have heard them. I mean they said they will never cruise on that class of ship again and they complained to everyone and got some other snacks for themselves in the diamond lounge. I would hate to expect to be treated special. They could have found out diamonds were not with diamond plus with only a little effort before the cruise.

I was appalled at all their complaining LOUDLY to everyone over snacks!! Like they were going hungry.
I've cruised with Royal Caribbean twice; I'm Platinum, but have never heard of Platinum Plus. Can someone fill me in?

    Thanks!
