    Thanks!

I used to be “up” on all of NCL’s policies.  Now?  Not so much!  Too many rule changes, too much time has passed.

Also checking to see if the Latitudes excursion discounts can be combines with the $50 excursion credit.

Yes, it can.  I just booked three excursions and it took off an additional 10%.

I went to this website and booked. I had a few questions and emailed them from the contact link on their website; no response. I received a pdf confirmation from them in Dutch and asked for a translation. No response. I tried emailing the address on the website; address bounced back. I was concerned about not hearing back so I booked with another company. They are 42eros from airport to the Marriott.

Can you tell me the name of the taxi company you booked?  I will be needing one in October and I'm trying to see how much they are all charging.

  3. I think I'm just going to stay an extra day in Amsterdam and then leave my hotel at 6am to get to the airport for the 10:55am flight.  I'm using AA miles so there isn't much to choose from.  Thank you all for the responses.  Last time I was in Amsterdam was in 1975 as a 17-year-old teenager.  Pretty sure things have changed (lol).

  4. So, it seems that the only flight out of AMS to DFW non-stop is at 10:55am.  I will be getting off of a cruise at 7am (or I hope) on a Wednesday.  Do you think if I walk off the ship with my luggage that I can make that flight?  I really don't want to have to spend another day in Amsterdam as I need to get home.  Thoughts?

We were at the Movenpick Hotel in Amsterdam in May, 2 people, 3 pieces of luggage, and paid 41Euros for a taxi from the hotel to the airport.  We used Staxi vervoer, phone number 31207058888, they take credit card or cash. We were very happy with their service and the driver was very punctual and we would highly recommend them. We prebooked on line.  Clean Volvo vehicle.

The taxis outside the hotel front door quoted 60E for the same trip.

I'm thinking of staying here for one night after the cruise in September.  I will need a ride to the airport at 6:30am as my flight will be at 10:55am.  41 euros seems like a great rate.  Thank you for the information.

  6. I guess I had a different experience than some of you as the COVID testing process was a debacle!  My check in time was at 1pm and I arrived exactly at that time to a building full of hundreds of people standing in a line.  It took over two hours to go through that process and get on board the ship.  One lady told me it took her 3 hours!!  There were no chairs for anyone to sit down except after you got tested.  One older couple had to be led away as they couldn't stand any longer.  I did my test 48 hours earlier at CVS as I didn't want any surprises.  I really think that NCL should let people show them a negative test and not have to be tested if they can't get people through fast enough.  I was on RCCL two weeks before and it was a much smoother process as you just had to show them your negative test result.

I don't know if this is how it is currently, but in 2020 when we bought Cruise Next deposits on board we got half the amount as onboard credit on the cruise we were on at the time. I don't believe it got us a better price on the new cruise itself.

Yes, that is still the same according to the paperwork they sent me.

  8. I'm going to be on The Gem 9/26 and want to buy some Cruise Next certificates.  In the past I just bought them without actually booking a cruise.  This time I have a cruise in mind and was wondering if there was any advantages to booking onboard? Do you get a better rate than if I booked when I got home?  I'm looking at the Prima for 12/3/22 so it is pretty far off but if I can get a better rate onboard than I would book it.  Any guidance would be most helpful.

  9. So I was originally booked in an inside cabin for $1800 (solo cruiser) on The Gem sailing of 9/19/21.  The only reason I booked that sailing was because it was going to Tortola.  Flash forward to last week and there was an itinerary change.  No Tortola!!  I talked to my TA at NCL and she said I could change my sailing which I did.  I changed to a much cheaper sailing $1512 in a club balcony for the sailing on 9/26.  Now the problem is that I have to wait for NCL to transfer my credit from the 9/19 cruise to the 9/26 cruise.  My 9/26 cruise is on hold and my TA has to re-hold it every two days so I can get the cheaper price.  My question is has anyone else experienced this long of a wait for the credit to be transferred?  This is getting ridiculous as the cruise is 30 days away and I want to book excursions  and dinner reservations!!  My poor TA has no idea when the credit will be transferred and neither does her supervisor.  The only good thing about the cruise being on hold is that there was a reduction of $75 so I got that price.  Anyone else in the same boat (pun intended)??

Look at the post cruise shore excursions with your cruise line .  I would NOT recommend the airboat ride with airport drop off but there will probably be other choices.  We went on a wonderful bus tour of Fort Lauderdale with a water (Riverboat?)  tour, with airport drop off.  These tours meet at the cruise port and would limit walking and transfers your family would need to make in the steamy hot sun.    Happy cruising.

Do you know the name of the bus tour that has airport drop off?

  11. So I am using NCL's air promo which was only $75RT from DFW-FLL.  I'm on AA and normally I would get one free bag since I have their credit card.  Does anyone know if this is the case with this promotion?  Also would I still get air miles even though I only paid $75?

  12. So I booked NCL's air for only $75RT.  Great bargain as normally it would be almost $300.  Just got my flight information and my flight home on 9/26 isn't until 7:15pm!!  And it is from FLL when the cruise docks in MIA!!  Does anyone have any ideas what I can do for the day?  My main concern is the luggage.  I was thinking maybe rent a car for the day and then leave it in FLL.  Thankfully there are three of us so the cost can be split three ways.  I really don't want to go sit at the airport for 9 hours.  I did that one time for 7 hours and I said I would never do that again (lol).  Pretty sure this has happened before to other people so I thought I would ask.  I guess you get what you pay for (lol).

I have only done one other NCL cruise - on Dawn last November.

There was a website flash sale or error this morning with super prices on solo bookings on  a 11 day Panama cruise on Pearl Feb 2021. I jumped at it and booked 2 cabins.

Minisuite Deck 11 (11102).  this one seems to be a noise gamble.  It is under the big void area on Dec 12 aft of the teen area. I have heard it is 'nothing' or 'the buffet'.  I am hoping for some feedback whether this is part of the buffet seating, or whether there would be crew noises early or late?  Or deck noise transfer to the balcony particularly when in port?

Alternative is Balcony Deck 9 pretty much guaranteed to be quiet, so a reliable alternative.

I only need one cabin, so need to decide which to cancel.  If the Mini suite won't be noisy, I would most likely choose that.

Also, I haven't been eligible for perks before.  Are there limitations on the drinks perks? As in drink price limit or where I can use it?  I am not much of a drinker but do like a glass or 2 of wine with dinner and perhaps a beer at the pool.  I expect I could stretch to a fourth drink if I put my mind to it 😉  Can I use the package in the dining areas, or just the bars? If only bars, can I carry my drink into dinner?

    Thanks for any insight.

I can't help you with the location of the cabin but as for the drink package you can have as many as you want.  I always take the drink package as I love to drink when I cruise.  Mind you I never really get drunk as the drinks are pretty weak but I do like to be able to order what I want without thinking about money.  If you don't drink very much you might not want the drink package as you are paying the beverage service charge per day.  That is a total of $217.80 for 11 days.  Just a thought.

It's for 2 devices - meaning 2 devices can be on line at the same time.  You choose the 2.

If you have Captain's Club status you "may" be better off calling and asking for a discounted price.  We got a killer deal on our 30 day big B2B coming up in March that way.  If they make you a great offer grab it.  May not be there with the next person you talk to.  Can always cancel it later if you want.

I'm "Select" so it says that I should get a 25% discount.  I guess I will call and see if the price they quoted me includes that discount.  I do see on their website where it said if you pre-book you will get a 10% discount so does that mean I would get a total of 35%?  Thank you for letting me know about the CC status thing as this is only my 2nd cruise on Celebrity as I usually sail RCCL or NCL.

  15. I received an email from Celebrity about purchasing an internet package.  The one I'm interested in is the Surf package for 2 devices.  It says prices starting from $174.  My question is is that per person or per cabin?  I'm assuming per cabin but just wanted to make sure as I have never bought the internet package before on Celebrity.

  16. So I am doing a 7 day cruise to Norway from Southampton next July and I'm seriously thinking that as long as I'm in Europe I should try to stay a little longer and mark off something on my bucket list.  I am thinking about Scotland as I just watched Outlander and I'm reading the books (I know I'm late to the party).  There are a lot of land tour companies out there and in the past I have been on three of them so I know what to expect.  You might want to look at Gate 1 as they are very economical and they are always running specials.

  17. I went through this several months ago for a 15 day TA.  I was in a balcony and the mini-suite was priced $600 less than what I paid for my balcony.  Since this was after final payment I called my guy at NCL and asked about either moving me to a mini-suite or giving me OBC.  He said he had to call his supervisor and when he got back to me he said that they would move me to the mini-suite for free but they would pick the cabin.  I got to keep my perks and the cabin that I got was in a great location.

I'm not understanding why they won't do anything for you but like several other posters have said you are at the mercy of your travel agent as NCL won't talk to you at all.  This is one of the reasons I always use someone at the cruise line as I want to go to bat for myself and not relay on someone else.
