USCG is an annual inspection for ANY cruise ship home-porting in the US. If all goes well, you might be able to embark as 'normal' - 11am ish? I'm onboard now, and the usual weekly crew drills have been running very smoothly - assuming the CG doesn't throw the ship a curve ball ;-) all should be business as usual.

Get there early, as it's an open air theater and the sun is strong. You'll want a seat in the shade!
-
Another thought - see if one of the conference rooms are available. I know for certain that a couple do have a/v hookups for a laptop, in ceiling projector and a big screen . . . Private party? Catered? Contact the group coordinator once onboard . . . . .
Bring your own cables, to be safe.

Keith Williams will be joining Legend Feb 18th - not sure if there's handover though.

Paul Rutter just got on Grandeur a couple days ago . . .

I'm onboard Adventure - Bobby's still CD 'till the end of this cruise. Dan takes over on the 27th.

IF, and that's a big "IF" the item did make it's way to "lost and found" at the desk, it will go in a package (or what they call the 'bullet") to shoreside offices with that voyage date/number. But often, these loose items just get put in the trash bag, and if no one grabs them, the hit the infamous "incinerator room"

If a ship has serious noro outbreak, crew are sometimes not allowed shore leave. If the ship undergoes a turnaround day sanitation, crew aren't allowed off the ship until all areas have reported in, which is usually about embarkation time. If you look at the crew vs guest numbers, crew almost always have much lower per capita incidents.
Remember the other points of contamination - shuttle buses, taxis, terminals - how often do you see those being sanitized? Do the porters and luggage workers sanitize between helping each person or handling luggage?
In the past few years of working on ships, the only staff in my area who got sick were the ones who decided to eat in the Windjammer!

Mike Hunnerup will be CD on EX thru May 15th or so (just on his FB, he's posting from Cadiz)
As far as CD email addresses . . . . I think it would be somewhat, um, dangerous (may not be the right descriptor) to give out the protocol here as the CD's would get BOMBARDED by CC'ers, spammers, etc. Best thing to do is to send an email to customer service or loyalty and it will get forwarded.
The lovely Clo on BR isn't on FB often when on contract, and depending on what you're asking, perhaps another dept can help?
(and if you can mask your email address - I may be able to pass on a message?)

Anyone else seeing all the pix from the CD conference on the social media fronts? Looks like ALL of them were there. OMG - so many familiar faces and good friends! Check FB, Instagram and the Twitters!

There's a good chance they'll have the game on in the main theater and/or on screens in the secondary lounge and all the bars. They've had it in the theater for the past several years.

Rob Macnally (not Jeff) was sighted today on the Brilliance. He'll be taking over next cruise, and then Helloooo Clo will be returning in February.
-
So I heard a rumor from a crewmember friend - that the new CD on Brilliance was from the Navigator (but he didn't know the name) - so . . . possibly Jeff will transfer? Lets see . . . .
Being on Brilliance would be great for him as that ship (or whatever's in Tampa at the time), hosts the annual Ohio State Buckeye charter - his wife is an alumni and he hosts a few events for them. http://buckeyecruise.com/

I'm pretty sure Carly B is on the Voyager with Darryl D as AM . . . but you might want to get confirmation from someone sailing on this . . . .
-
Pretty sure Topi is on the Legend right now . . .
-
so . . . . there is a 'new to RCI' cruise director in handover right now on the Brilliance. I'd say more, but it's more fun to see how quickly CC'ers can figure this out. Will take over on the next turnaround day :D

I have a question. This is going to be difficult but; there are two cruise directors that I loved, but I can't remember their names or ships they were on. It was RCI. The first was a guy that changed characters all the time, western, hillbilly, English, he was histerical! Tall, American I believe. He would dress up and walk around the ship, and you didn't know it was him. Very funny guy. The second was a short, older guy, i think he was on Voyager or explorer several years ago. He too was really funny and an excellent CD. Anyone have any ideas who these two are, and where they are now? Thank you!
I'll say the first is Eric Dowis? Now on HAL? https://www.facebook.com/humoroushost
and the second may be Jeff Arpin, who's sometimes back for CD fills and Ohio State Buckeye charters . . . .

I personally love him. He's one of the 'old school' era, not a comedian or pushing his own agenda, but just presenting the shows, hosting the events and making sure it's the ship you're enjoying, not his personality. He started out with RCI as part of the production cast many moons ago.
-
Hopefully CD Drew is still on - he's Canadian so you KNOW there will be hockey on somewhere :D
-
Don't forget there's a Total Wine and a Publix grocery store right near the north entrance to the port :D
-
Does anyone remember a CD named Parker? Had him on my 1st RCL cruise in 2001 on Majesty. Never heard of him again and wonder what happened to him.
Parker Cristan is living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin - staging/choreographing for local theater
And here's a couple more
Ashley Kerr - married and living in Vancouver BC, working as a marketing rep for a PR firm
Karen Maybury - has a consultant/pr/entertainment agency - and you can find a couple more cruise directors there :D http://mayburywebbcreative.com/
Jannie Cloete - leading expeditions on small ships http://www.noble-caledonia.co.uk/information/expedition_staff_detail.asp?id=106
We'll Sail Again - from the entertainers!
