  1. Don't know how I have missed this conversation until now but this is the best post on CC ever!!! I have tears rolling down my face I am laughing so hard. Trying to type is difficult because I can't see now (the tears and all) but I have to agree with TinkBell10 on the B52 shots. Love them [emoji171][emoji41].

  2. We sailed on Oosterdam 4 years ago and the Greenhouse Spa was one of our favorite experiences. We used it almost daily so it was worth the price to us...I don't remember the exact price but it was around $200 per couple for 7 day sailing and was less expensive if bought on board the first day. You can buy a day pass for $40 if you feel you will use it once or twice.

We loved the hydrotherapy pool, the relaxation lounge, and the steam sauna was great for me but husband thought it was too hot. You also have access to a aroma-therapy dry sauna.

Massage treatments are an additional charge (pricey) but are heavenly. [emoji5]

  3. This is a copy & paste of a CC article WHAT TO EXPECT ON A CRUISE: CABIN STEWARD that I read earlier today...maybe this is where some people get the idea of small cabins & no gifts.??

**"Some people like to bring their room steward a gift to show their appreciation. While this is a nice gesture, keep in mind that crew cabins are small and there's not a lot of room for trinkets. Your room attendant would more likely appreciate cash or perhaps a prepaid phone card to call home."**

  4. CruiserBruce: OP (me) only has a few over 800 posts - sure that is closer to 1000 than it is to 0, but still not to 1000 yet. Before I post a new thread I usually do a search first. You caught me one of the few times I didn't do a search. Should I have done that? Yes, but no need for you to be mean about it. This is a small world.... I may just be sitting at your table on your next cruise so you may as well be nice.

Nice statement. We are all here to learn, share our knowledge and advice from our experiences, and to enjoy each other's love of cruising from newbies to the most experienced. Seems like Cruise Critic has become "Cruise Critical" for some people....[emoji41][emoji924]

  5. Google: Frommer's Master Packing List. I print off several and then highlight what I need per trip...Also, you can google "Travel Planning Checklist" for a list of things to do days or weeks prior to cruise/vacation (example: stop mail, notify credit card companies, schedule pet boarding, etc.). Hope this helps.

  6. While making reservations for specialty restaurants on a cruise is not always necessary it is usually recommended if there is a certain time or day that you prefer. If you decide to wait maybe you could go the day you board the ship and secure your reservations. Have a wonderful cruise. [emoji41]

  7. I always take Nature's Way Ginger Root 550mg for motion sickness and have had great success. As others suggested, I start taking 2-3 days prior and throughout the cruise as directed. It also helps aid with any stomach issues from eating so much food. I also carry something stronger for motion sickness just in case.

I didn't see mentioned but you don't have to go to the MDR (main dining room) every night if you decide to do the buffet, room service, etc. for a change of pace. The "ordering as much as you want" I think is in reference to the MDR- usually you can order another serving of whatever is being served if you really like a certain dish (if you ask) and you can pass on a course if you wish....

    Enjoy your cruise!

  8. So happy to see people standing up for other posters on here. The last time I cruised and used CC was 5 years ago and it astonishes me how rude, snobby, and know-it-all some posters have become. I thought we were to help each other have the best cruise(s) possible..... ~live, love, and laugh.

  9. Wei hey neighbor ! Heading to Greenville Tuesday! Lovely town!

Was reading your post and you will love your cruise to Alaska...so tranquil & relaxing. You will both find this a great cruise so don't stress out about the party scene. Enjoy your cruise. Wish we were on the same cruise as it would have been fun to meet up with you all...

I am originally from Anderson, S.C. but now live outside of Seattle. My Sis-in-law and Brother-in-law are coming in from Greenville, S.C. for their 1st cruise to Alaska but we are on the Westerdam out of Seattle in July.
