I would agree with your rationale....i.e. because the Aurea suite is awesome it is probably best to remain for a $1500 'saving'. However, for only $500 it is a no brainer for me, and we would def forego the superior cabin for the much superior YC experience. Butler service isn't a biggie for us, and we would never 'rub noses in it' by using the elevator override. The concierge service in YC, however, is excellent and never busy.....outwith YC, it is the Guest Relations desk you need to us and that is never a good experience!

A couple of other thoughts....the YC restaurant food is not at a specialty restaurant standard, rather it sits mid-point between MDR and specialty but the ambience is very good. The top sail lounge is a fab oasis from the normal ship areas, as is the pool deck area.

The YC drinks package is slightly better than premium, inasmuch as it includes the standard Nicolas F champagne and also some spirits at the lower end of the Connoisseur package. The YC in cabin minibar is free, and is replenished twice daily including very nice snacks.

    To the OP.....

My wife recommends that you convince DH to make this change to YC.....I entirely agree, and encourage you to go for it at the price margin, it is a unique experience!

Hamrag, great input.  My husband does like his champagne & upper end wines!  You raise good points!  Leaning towards keeping what we have this time and go for it (YC) next time.  I appreciate your insight/experience with YC.  Thank your wife for me...Happy Cruising!

You are trading a hot tub....hot bathtub for Yacht Club service.    A massage..(which you have full spa perks in YC sans massage) for

Butler bringing you ANYTHING you want.

    Quiet pool and pool deck

Pool bar where they don't let you be thristy

Pool bar food that is tasty

YC restaurant that is quiet and as good as any specialty restaurant

    YC perks like reserved seating

    YC perks like express elevator

YC perks like lounge that is forward facing and all your needs attended to

YC perks like express embarkation, tenders and port access.

YC perks like anything you want.

Sorry....I'm spoiled by YC.  I probably shouldn't even post this as it MSC will figure out the deal.

Thank you Russ_MT.   I can tell you LOVE the YC.  Thank you for bullet pointing the perks...I see YC in our future but may keep what we have this time, as it will be ideal.  I would love to tour the YC area when on board, I'll see if it's possible & may see you on deck in the future!!  Happy Cruising

Hi CG ... We like yourself have a Deck 12 balcony forward on Meraviglia at Xmas with the hot tub and have also has an Aft suite on Seaside. We have also considered moving to the YC from the Forward balcony suite.

Remember that Aurea also comes with a massage each which is not included in the YC, a private hot tub that you don't have to share plus a larger two room cabin.

At the end of the day it all comes down to how you feel and if the move to YC is worth the extra.

We will be staying with 12007.

Thank you sidari....it makes so much sense to stay where we are!  I am leaning in that direction:)  Happy Cruising

    Absolutely do YC

service level is outstanding. Restaurant and lounge fantastic.  Pool quiet and not crowded

we will always sail YC if possible.  You will too.

That's what I am afraid of, always wanting to sail YC once I have a taste of it...LOL  Thank you for your input, I really appreciate it.

There are lots of posts about YC and what it offers/doesn't

One thought... that huge wrap around balcony and private hot tub is not an option in YC, correct?

That sounds pretty great as well as all of the other perks you have now.

Are you prepared to give up that balcony and private hot tub?

You are so right.  What we have now is PERFECT!!  Why change Perfect?  Thanks for the "pep talk"!  I needed it:)

  6. Hi MSC fans,

We are sailing on the Meraviglia in March 2020.  Currently booked in cabin 11011, Aurea Suite with Hot Tub on balcony in the front of the ship.  I am so excited with this cabin.  With the upgraded drink package there is a difference of less than $500 dollars between our current suite and a YC Deluxe suite.  My husband says keep what we have but I keep thinking about the YC.  We have never booked the YC before so I am hoping for some insight from those of you who have cruised in the YC what your thoughts are?  What would be the biggest benefit in the YC?  Would we still have the benefit of the Premium drink package throughout the ship (silly question)?  Currently, we have an Aurea suite, the premium drink package, a huge wrap around balcony with a private hot tub, spa access, top 19 sundeck, priority dining.....so just wondering what will be the difference?  Should I upgrade to YC?

We have been on 2 other MSC ships, Davina & Seaside. We had an aft balcony on the Davina and an Aurea Balcony on the Seaside so the upgrade to an Aurea Suite on the Meraviglia is Awesome.  We've normally booked regular balcony cabins on our other cruises.  Just thought we would try something different this time.  Your thoughts are appreciated and hopefully I can put my mind to rest.  Thanks in advance for your expertise and advise for the YC.

  7. Oh My Gosh!!!

Thank you all so much for responding.  I can't figure out how to respond to each of you individually!  If anyone can help me figure it out I would appreciate it.

Yes, we are going to the Caribbean in March of 2020, I've got a couple of other cruises scheduled for Mexico in October and May...Getting confused on where I am going, LOL.   We have sailed on the MSC Divina and the MSC Seaside & just love MSC!!  My husband just retired and I am close behind so I am in the booking craze right now!  Thought we would step this cruise up a little with the suite.  So excited!!

Capitalberry - I really appreciate the video, great job!!  WOO HOO...292 days and counting until we sail....AWESOME, thank you so much for sharing.

Again, thank you everyone!!  Happy Sailing:)

  8. Hi,  Just booked a Aurea Suite 11011 for our Mexican Riviera Cruise next year.  The picture shows a Hot Tub on the balcony.  I've tried to confirm with the MSC reservations as my booking shows it as a Whirlpool in the bathroom.  One of the reasons we booked this suite was for the Hot tub on the balcony.  Has anyone stayed in this suite, just curious where the Hot tub is located.

    Thanks for your help

  9. Heard on Kelly & Ryan this morning that Norwegian will no longer be making towel animals for cabins😪.  I enjoy coming in to the cabin at night & being greeted by a cute towel animal.  The staff is so creative & it’s a special touch.  One more cost reduction, boohoo!!

    Has anyone else heard this?

  10. So Awesome!!  So happy for you, I can feel your excitement:classic_biggrin:  We have 3 booked which puts us at 34.  Started cruising in 2000 and have been hooked ever since.  Looking to retire later this year or early next year and look forward with anticipation at all the cruises we get to add to our portfolio.  What has been your favorite cruise and why?  Congratulations, have a ball:classic_smile:

  11. Great Info everyone!  We have been on many cruises and this will be our 1st time in a Spa Balcony.  On the Carnival Splendor in March, cabin 1045.  Has anyone been in this cabin?  The location looks "safe" from above noise.  Any info you have would be appreciated!  I will be sure to request my exfoliation kit from the Spa, great news to have in advance of the cruise!  Thanks Everyone!  Cheers to another Great Adventure at Sea!

  12. Thank you!  Nice to know what choices to expect.  I assume this is the wine list from the MDR.  Do you know if the wine lists in the specialty restaurants is the same or upgraded.  If so, visiting the bar inside of the specialty restaurants (if they have one) picking up a glass of wine on the way to the MDR may be the thing to do!

  13. Great Pics!!  Are your menu pictures in the MDR?  Food looks great!!  Mouthwatering!  How about your feet pics, where were they taken?  I've been reading a little about VIBE, is that where you are?  Not sure I want to spend the $$ (if I could even get the passes), LOL!  Thanks, keep sharing, so FUN!!

  14. Hi,  we received a "free" offer from our local Indian Casino, Pechanga.  The "free" offer was for an inside cabin with drink package.  With port taxes/fees, insurance, gratuities for drink package and on board gratuities, the inside cabin about $550pp.  We upgraded to an angled balcony.  All said, our "free" cruise $1050 pp.  We are excited!!  We saved approx. $1000 over the "normal" price.  Love trying the New ships & Love Mexico!  Fortunately, we live 20 minutes from the port so we don't have to pay for airfare so it works out well for us!

NO! They do not tell you the cabin number, only the category... So you're essentially bidding on a sail away within that category and could be anywhere within that category.  Be sure you are okay with any room if you bid because there is no undoing it either.  They may immediately upgrade someone else to your vacated room.

Thank you for your quick response!  It's tough accepting an upgrade if you don't know  where it is.  I will definitely take that in to consideration if I receive an offer:)  Take Care

Our last cruise was an angled rear facing balcony on Escape.  I say rear because it was one of the ones where if you were standing at the edge, you'd be facing more towards the back of the ship... Not rear as in aft though.

We enjoyed it very much.  It was a deck 15 Spa Balcony so it actually ended up being a bit more covered by an overhang on Deck 16.  I liked having more space than just the typical balcony to be completely honest.  I know a mini-suite gets more space in the room itself too though.

I'm always concerned with bidding on upgrades to get a room in a location that I don't care for as much as my original room.  I specifically pick out rooms for reasons like the angled balcony, convenience to stairs, not under loud venues, etc.

Thank you.  I have been reading the Upgrade posts, not used to the bidding process as we haven't cruised on NCL in years.  Curious to see if we get an upgrade offer closer to our cruise & I appreciate all of the input which was one of the reasons I was asking the question.  When they offer an upgrade do they tell you what cabin # you are bidding on or is it just done by category?  I like the location of the balcony we booked, like to be mid-ship and of course not under the pool area, etc.

    Thanks again:)
