  1. Miami. I've read some boards that say some shuttles can't even have car seats in them so just wondering what the typical airport shuttle situation kind of was down there. I know the Houston shuttles to the ports didn't allow car seats nor did our ones in Orlando.

  2. I called the hotel that we are staying at prior to our upcoming cruise and asked about the car seat because I too did not want to bring mine. They told me that the shuttles do not accommodate car seats, so I would not be able to use it anyways, and most people just hold their child on their laps. Also I have a shuttle picking us up at the cruise port and bringing us to airport and they said the same thing. Just call your hotel and ask. Hope this helps.

What hotel did u stay at?

  3. Thank everyone for your reply. I will not take the kids with us for cave tubing.

Now can anybody recommend some good activities for family with young kids? Our next port is Cozumel and we will visit Chakanaab Park. Thus I will keep the beach day in Belize on the bottom of my list of options. The zoo?? I read horrible reviews about the zoo (giant mosquito). Another choice is Maya ruins + river wallace tour because my parents are interested in the ruins and I think the kids will love to see the animals during the river wallace tour. But the tour through the cruise line has an age restriction (>4 year old). Is it a good idea to go with the private tour for this type of tour? I don't want to get back late and see the ship sails away. The last option is to do city tour on a bus which seems like a little bit boring to me but it may be good for the kids.

It is really tricky to plan activities with young kids in Belize, especially when my parents are eager to explore the country and they don't understand English (which means my husband and I need to company my parents during the activity).

curious on what u ended up doing? have a 7 month old and a 3 year old with us

  4. I am actually traveling with a 9,7,4 and a 2 year old. We are doing Goff's Caye for the day. There is a boat ride out and then on a small Caye with shallow water for the kids to play on or snorkeling for the older ones. Any kid under 5 I have found with several different excursion companies are free.

    how much was all that?

  5. NCL docks at Coxen Hole. The beaches you seek are primarily along West Bay or up in West End. There are a number of threads regarding these. I believe most have small palapas, thatched umbrella like structures, There are also palm trees for shade. Google, Infinity Bay, Half Moon Bay, Banarama, Paradise Beach, or Maya Princess for information and pictures. Not all of these will accommodate day cruisers or may have limitations. Another bet may be to use an NCL excursion that goes to Maya Key. It's a small island just off the harbor and it has a small beach but also a pool, restaurant, petting zoo, lots of shade, some snorkeling (wear water shoes as bottom is rough).

is there anything right at coxen hold to do??? Is it a town/shopping area or is there any beach area at all to just sit right there? trying to avoid taxis

  6. Has anyone had experience with NCL's airport transfers to and from Bayport (Houston)?

Incredibly, there seems to be no other economical way to get to and from this port! Please let me know what airport you used, what you paid, and what your impressions were.

    Many thanks!

Anyone do a rental car??? It seems to b the cheaper way to go. I found dollar general and used some coupons and its only $375 for a week for a mini van (we have 7 people in our party) and the hotel we are staying at is Best western Plus and they allow free cruise parking for all cruise passengers.

  7. Good Morning DKcruiser10,

thank you for your tip. sounds like an excelent idea, we will be traveling from the San Francisco area to the Hobby airport in April 2015 with myself,DH, DD, SIL and 2 grandsons. Would any body know how it works with children in taxis regarding small children. Our gransons will be 7 and 4 when we go n this cruise. I do not know about car seat laws with taxis ?? Any help from anyone.

    thank you

    cindi :):)

Did you already cruise? ill have this same problem with a 3 year old and 7 month old and looking at taxi/shuttle options in the area.

  8. I googled Houston Car Seat Taxi (because I'm travelling with kids). I see there are a number of services that all seem to be charging from $85 and up for flat rate transport IAH to Bayport. Any reviews or comments on using one of these services? Paying NCL $45pp (that's $180 for us  each way) isn't sounding great!

just curious as to what you ended up doing? we will b cruising with kiddos and have the same carseat situation... not planning on bringing them. all our other cruises we rented them with the car but cant really do that on taxis and shuttles.

  9. We just got off the Jewel on the 15th. There were 6 in our group 2 were children. We got a van for 6 with no problem. It cost us $155 to go to hotel by IAH airport. With all the stories I have read we were too afraid to book flight home same day, but we would have had no problem with an afternoon flight. FYI.. super shuttle would not take our 7 year old without car seat. We did not have one because in our state she is old enough not to need one. No problems with any of the taxis.

as for taxis... would they allow a 3 year old and 7 month old with no carseat?

  10. We just returned yesterday. We did an NCL transfer to the ship (same port as Princess) for $35 each. I figured I would play it by ear for the return so didn't book anything in advance. Upon return, there was a long line of cabs and super shuttle "blue vans" lined up. I figured the super shuttle would be cheaper than a cab (when I checked on line, cab rates ranged from $50-$70). I walked up to the first blue van in the long line of vans and asked if he was going to hobby. He said yes and the rate was $23.50 per person. We jumped in and were on our way in about 10 minutes. Others in the van had pre-booked so I'm sure it is cheaper if you pre-pay. The driver said that super shuttle has a desk at Hobby so in hindsight, it would have been better to pre-book transport both ways through super shuttle. Our flight was at 1:20. We were at the airport by 10:00.

For the NCL transfer... we will have little kiddos with us. whats the transfer like? bus? van? wondering about carseat info.

just curious what you ended up doing? We will be cruising with a 3 year old and a 7 month old and DO NOT PLAN on bringing carseats either. So looking into what shuttle service/taxi has stuff available for us with no carseats. Our last cruise our 3 year old was 14 months old and then we had a shuttle bus that was free with our rental car but those are not avaiable in houston :(
