  1. I booked thru their site :

    http://www.capital-parking.com/cruise-parking.html

Looks like they've increased their prices to 7.99 per day. Eek! But still almost half off what u pay at the port.

After you book and pay online, you get a receipt emailed to you. I printed and took it but they never asked for it. Just asked our name and checked it off on their clipboard.

I assume you could pull up day of. The lot wasn't full when we were there both days. But I'm sure there's no guarantee.

  2. Update: got back a few weeks ago. Capital Parking was great. It's literally a vacant grassy lot with fence all around, but its smack in the middle of posh Harbour Island. It's only a minute or 2 from port. Would've seen the whale tail from the lot it not for tall buildings. The drivers both times were friendly and super efficient. And they have a clearly marked meeting point after the cruise to get shuttled back to your car. Highly recommend them for insanely cheap and safe parking!

  3. I wish I knew about this place for my last cruise. Harbour Island is an upscale area, luxury hotels and residences and would feel safer parking there than at the port. Great find!

Curious if you remember the place in PC? I'll be cruising from there in August.

Same as redbird. Park N Cruise. Loved it. Paid less than 1/2 the price of port parking!!

  4. Have you considered a park and cruise pkg from a hotel? We got the Hampton Inn Ybor City for $94 for our Jun cruise

I've done that in the past, but this time we are staying the night at my brother's house in Green Cove Springs, then drive to Tampa morning of cruise. Only downside is that I'll miss some great Cuban food for dinner the night before.:(:D

  5. We used capital for our april cruise and we were very happy. Parking is close to the port, quick service and great rates! You keep your keys but have to prepay online. It was super easy and i would not hesitate to use them again.

Thanks! Glad to hear you keep your keys, especially after the news story about the one lot in PC where they took someone's vette out for a joyride, LOL!

  6. I see a place called Capital Parking in Tampa. Any reviews good or bad? I've done off site parking in Port Canaveral and loved it. Saved major bucks. I was gonna go ahead and at least reserve at this place in Tampa but I see you have to go ahead and enter payment information. Before I do that I want to make sure they're on the up and up.

    Thanks!

  7. So it''ll be like 2 weeks in a KFC? Haha, we'll figure something out.

It could've just been that week. Maybe that's the week they decided not to change the grease in the fryers.:p That's why I'm hoping OP comes back and chimes in.

But don't worry...if there is a hint of grease smell, the steward will happily de-odorize your room as much as you want. He made it smell VERY fresh and clean.

  8. Thank you Becca. I had the chance to upgrade to one, but passed because I didnt know much about them. Are they all AFT? I think that's why we decided to pass.

They're right at the beginning of the "aft section" of the ship. I personally love that area, as there's hardly any foot traffic and straight up is food!:D

  9. Squeal!!! I was in that cabin in October! LOOOOOVED it!!

But I'm curious, did you ever notice, especially during meal times that the room smelled like grease? We had to have the steward de-odorize the room daily as it smelled like I was frying up fried chickens in there, LOL!:D

  10. From reading another thread, it seems that Carnival is now also blocking the cove balconies (Cat. 7C) for new sailings. So it seems that Carnival blocks popular categories (such as 6M and 7C) in order to try to sell less popular categories (such as 6A and 8A). I personally think that is very dishonest, and it penalizes people who want to book early. Is there any way that people can get around it? If Carnival is having so much trouble selling 6A's and 8A's that they have to resort to dishonest techniques to sell them, maybe they need to just lower the prices of those categories!

Wow, I've seen where they have "not available" for the coves when trying to book online, but are they also saying no if you call and try to book? I'd think if you told them to kick rocks and you're not gonna book, that they'd bend over backwards to get the cabin category if it truly was still available.

  11. I sent the PVP a link to the Luggage Service page and got this response:

"Yes, we do provide this service. However, you will have to book and then you will be notified which airlines are available."

So.. for anyone who has used Luggage Express and won't pressure me to book my cruise, do I have to book my flights through Carnival to be eligible? Will I really be notified about what airlines are available when I book?

First, I hope you do realize this is just for when you are leaving the ship and going to the airport. Doesn't include your luggage getting to the ship at the start of your cruise. You do not have to book air through Carnival. Once onboard you can check with guest services if your airline will be participating.

I agree that it is odd they don't have a standard list of airlines who participate based on which airport, ship, etc.... so you can plan ahead accordingly.

Call Carnival back and speak to someone else. Surely someone will know the info.

  12. This is on Carnival's FAQ page: *just type in "Loyalty" under FAQs search to pull this up

  13. I would think 4148 would be good too! Has anyone had that room?

Somebody wrote this on a cabin review page of CC: *Note Pride is identical to Legend*

4140Pleasantly surprised by the Pride! by mdpooh

Cabin 4140, Category 4K, obstructed view (lifeboats) but rate is same as inside cabins. Floor to ceiling door. Try to get a room in between the lifeboats and you actually have a view. You can see this on the deck plan. We had 4140 and our friends had 4148, both of which were in between the boats. It was as good as an outside cabin (no balcony). The room had more storage space than I've ever had on a cruise, both in the room itself and in the bathroom. Good location, somewhat centrally located
