Wow, got my docs yesterday, and I noticed you're review today. Definitely getting excited now! Thanks for posting this excellent review.

This is from a Navigator cruise...Falmouth after a
passing shower. 2 shots combined.
Nice!

Out of curiosity, what do you see as the advantage to taking the bus? :)
I'm happy we had info on both. We walked from Filipstad to Rådhus. It was a busy day in port, and there was a huge line. So we went to the TI, got our passes, and took the #30. Ended up taking the ferry back. One other minor benefit to the bus.... Probably makes no sense to a local, but it can be nice to see typical neighborhoods. We also ended up chatting with people at the bus stop. With the ferry being mostly tourists, it's a bit insulating.
Again, thanks for your earlier post on getting into town from Filipstad. The day worked out perfectly! :D

@rostocker Thanks so much for all the assistance. The day we spent in Wismar and Warnemünde was so easy! Fish for lunch in Wismar was really good, and seeing the everyone having fun in Warnemünde was great too. Thanks again!

Have just spoken to a police friend who lives there and he points out...
Was just talking about this to my wife, and told her I had a connection to the police in Schwerin. :D See Anni.. you make us all feel as though we have the inside track!
-
Shame that this appears on Wikipedia as it gives a totally wrong impression of a beautiful city. Don't let it put you off.
Happy cruising, :)
Anni
Certainly wasn't putting me off. :) But thanks for the reassuring info. Someone from Schwerin should go in and edit it.
-
I was looking through the Wikipedia entry for Schwerin. It makes mention of a high crime rate, which seems odd for a small town. However, I can't read the linked PDF in German. I suspect this info is wrong, but have you heard of anything?
-
Oh, the beauty of technology!! and silly me thought computers were meant to make life less confusing.
Believe me, the destination which you enter makes no difference at all.
I had a feeling if I read long enough, I'd find the answer to my question. My Lander ticket is in hand, so we're good to go. Thanks so very much for all the info!

Hi. I've got a number friends in India, and I'm trying to understand cricket, with no success at all. :)
Hope everyone is well. -

Frank -- are you "listening"???

Yup. Listening again. :D Just about any Saturday in May sounds fine. The only problem with the San Rafael place, is you have to be there when it opens on a Saturday. It turns into a zoo fast. Might not be the best place for a leisurely meal. -
Hmmmm. Love Indian food. By the way, this place used to have a back room they'd let you use for free, and it's good food! Just a thought for getting together.

I loved Sol Food Restaurant! That's a wonderful place. DDD video is here. -
I could use a warm, exotic trip. Just too many places to go!
We recently started eating at Texas Roadhouse wow is that food good. The place can get a little noisy yet the food is worth it. I was wondering if your sign on MOUNTAINHOUSE had anything to do with the exit off 580............The Baltics sound amazing can't wait to hear all about your trip when you return.
Last time I was at the Texas Roadhouse, it was pretty noisy. All of it coming from a group of cruisers. :) I really don't mind talking about the origin of "moutainhouse", but can't do it online. A bit personal. :) Yes, the Baltics should be very different. I just wish things were a little more reasonable (cost-wise) in that part of the world. Oh, well. -
been thinking of you and Marianne - come in and say HI more often - thanx to Janice, she revived this thread and I am happy to welcome Yvonne and hope you will continue to chat with us too -
will need to have another northern CA lunch sometime when it's much nicer -
when is your next cruise?
carol
Thanks, Janice. :D We're going to the Baltics in July. Have the big decisions made, but now need to work out the details, like: is that hole in the fence, I see in Google Steetview, still there to shorten our walk to the dock by 500 feet. Seriously, we'll be in Denmark on our own for a week pre-cruise, so there are some details to think through. Based on Rick Steves' recommendation, we're going to start on Aero Island. It will be different! But, I really enjoy the planning, so it's all fun. -
Hi, Carol. Just wanted to jump in and say HI. :D Hope all is well,

It was a good trip. We were originally going to do a Caribbean trip like last year, but the airfare to San Juan is looking kinda ugly. Since we view these trips as mostly for the week of relaxation (instead of sight seeing) this worked nicely. Highlight was Mazatlan. We had a great day with Mazatlan Frank. Photos are here.
So I woke up this morning hearing about the ash cloud over Europe. Any chance this will go so long that cruise ships might be diverted to provide trans-Atlantic service? If there's no air travel, European cruises that cater to Americans would probably be less than 1/2 full.

Woohoo! Just booked a 2011 Baltic cruise on the Emerald Princess. Princesses 2011 Europe bookings just opened. I started a roll call. :D Hope this is not too early.

Thanks, Carol and Char. I really need to start packing. Right now I'm trying to pick the wine to bring on board. Not having to fly in has its pluses. :D I like to bring a large bottle of port wine, pay the $15 corking, and then have it brought to the table each night. Get full value for the $15 that way. ;)

This is the right place to come to if you want to be confused!!
Confusion. That's something I can relate to. :)
