  1. I've looked at the runway site before, and the rental prices seem reasonable, but I would be worried that the dresses wouldn't fit perfectly or be the length that I prefer. Off-topic, my pet peeves are "cloths" and "dinning" -- like fingernails on a blackboard to me!

They advertise that the dress is free (minus cost of shipping) if it's the wrong size. They'll give you the credit towards your next rental, so it's not like you're completely getting your money back, but at least you get another dress. I don't know how you prove that, though.... I guess it has to be unworn. Again, how do you prove that? I'll have to ask someone who has rented before.

My pet peeve is when people use the wrong form of there/their/they're or your/you're. People say "Your welcome" all of the time, and I always want to say, "You mean you are welcome?" Maybe we need a pet peeve thread...

  2. I mean I have not seen anything above a 12-14 US. Most things go to L or Us12. The average US women is a 14-16 so they only have cloths for smaller women. While the concept is great. thy are limited on sizing.

I also wish they had more petite sizing. I'm only 5'0" and most of the longer dresses they suggest to sizes 5'3"-5'4" and above. I hope once the site gets more popular, they expand the sizing.

Unfortunately, I think it's not the fault of Rent the Runway, but of the designers. There has never been a huge selection of petite clothing (I always have to get my long gowns hemmed), and from what I've heard, designers don't carry a lot of larger sizes.

  3. What do you mean by the clothes aren't in real sizes?

Perhaps the European sizing is confusing? It can be tricky. If you go to the sizing tab, they explain how the sizes correlate to traditional American sizes. And you can also chat with a size guide.

I've never rented from Rent the Runway, but I am a member and scroll through the dresses. I already own so many dresses that I have yet to wear, so there is no need for me to rent, right now. However, I've heard many good reviews.

Personally, I don't think renting a dress would be pretending to be someone else. I look through the dresses and think, "that's so me!" Of course, renting would also give me the opportunity to try out dresses that aren't exactly my style, and I could learn that I love something I normally wouldn't pick out.

If you are interested, I have a blogger "friend" who rented a lovely gold gown for her 3rd anniversary celebration at the Tower of Terror at Disney's Hollywood Studios (she throws the best anniversary parties - the queen of private events at Disney World!). She has written a review on the experience: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/our-wedding/tot-anniversary-party/comment-page-1/

  4. When I said that kids sail for 1/2 price, what I meant was the 3rd & 4th (and in my case 5th) passenger sail for a lot less then passengers one & two. When we sailed on the Carnival Dream this fall, my kids were less then $300 each. Total cost was about $2,500.

We checked Disney & the cost for the 3rd,4th & 5th passengers were over $1,000. I would love to sail Disney. I have heard nothing but great things about them, but when the price difference is in the $3,000-$5,000 range, it's a no brainer to me.

Yeah, it's still a reduced rate for Disney... just doesn't seem quite as sweet because DCL is already high. Keep an eye out for the Kids Sail Free promotion, it will probably be very helpful.

Did you like the Carnival Dream? I personally wasn't a big fan.... it was a big ship, but there wasn't much to do. And our weather wasn't that great, so we didn't get to take advantage of the water slides (they kept closing them b/c of high wind speeds). I much prefer RCI's "ships for ADHD adults" (some CCer used that to describe them... I like it :D).

  5. Suntanz,

Cruiselines don't offer half for kids (well, unless it's some special deal, definitely not a regular thing).... they offer reduced rates for the 3rd and 4th passengers in a 4-person room, and I believe that Disney does that, as well.

Disney offers Kids Sail Free promotions on occasion (this is actually the only good DCL promotion they have... too bad I don't have kids! :D). And I don't think they take a really big hit for it because I believe it's only offered for up to two children staying in the same cabin as their parents, which is at a reduced rate, anyway. Still, it can be a big money-saver!

  6. WOWWWWW!!!!!!!! This TR has been AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you so much for the wonderful pictures! The ports of call look beautiful!!!

I also greatly appreciate the pictures of the Magic! I am very impressed. I've been on the Dream, and there were several things that I noted could use improvement, and it really looks like they stepped it up with the Magic! On the Dream, I was annoyed with the tacky buffet area with all of the colored glass... but the buffet on the Dream looks gorgeous!!!

I am still disappointed in the dining rooms, though. Those chairs look like convention chairs! Yuck!!!

Thanks again for the pictures and report! You have done a wonderful job with this TR!!! :)

  7. I started reading your TR an hour or so ago, and I could not stop myself! :D

I love your perspective and sense of humor! Thank you so much for sharing your trip! Also, thanks for sharing the video of the purple slide. I now really want to see the video of the "toilet bowl" slide!

If you have Windows Movie Editor or the like, you can just import the video and it will break it out into an audio and video clip. You can then find the naughty word and cut out the audio. ;) :D

Thanks again for the wonderful review!

  8. Prices are exactly why we stopped doing Disney cruises as a family. We love Disney and visit the World multiple times a year. But we just can't justify the prices of a Disney cruise, when we can get more days and different locations for less.

I am the diehard Disney fan of the family, so I definitely foresee taking Disney cruises in the future. Might take a lot of budgeting...

But for right now, my father is still paying for me to vacation with him, so I'm definitely not complaining!!! :D

  9. I got the black and gold dress!!! I tried it on, and it was a little loose (in the hips of all places, lol... that's why I jumped on it - I have no hips!), just needed a few alterations. But my little sister tried it on and it fits her perfectly, just have to take up the straps a little bit.

I will post a picture of her in it soon!

Did you get my email, Illinois Mom?

  10. This dress was a little tight in my daughters hips, although she loved it, I think she has a little disappointed but so loved the blue one

This is black with a gold glitter design on it, and is a juniors size 2. This dress doesn't have any stretch to it at all, though.

Is this dress still up for grabs? :)
