  1. We are booked on the Freedom (again) for the Exotic Southern Itinerary next April (2013) and will be flying from Halifax, through YYZ, Our flights are YHZ (Halifax) to YYZ, then YYZ to FLL... for our return we will be doing MIA to YYZ (using Carnival ground transport to MIA) and YYZ to YHZ, all for $1200.00 Canadian total for TWO of us ($600.00 each). We will be flying on Air Canada both ways.

There are actually lots of direct flights from YYZ to FLL, but none from YHZ to FLL, so we have to go through (Pearson) YYZ. Also, we decided to come home from MIA, cause the departure taxes from MIA are a LOT cheaper than from FLL, even with the Carnival ground transport, it cheaper to fly from MIA than from FLL.

Our first cruise was on this exact itinerary in Nov 2008, we loved it, and we were hooked. Weve been on two other cruises since, and have another booked for next April...

That's a great price! Glad you found a great deal! I should have also added that we booked our flights last week as we booked our cruise just under the 100 day mark. So we didn't have much time to search out flights. The direct flights I saw were once a day with west jet and air Canada and were priced too high! Enjoy your cruise!

    @ sweet curves - good luck at mo-mac! :-)

  2. Aww Hamilton! I went to Mac so I actually kinda miss the hammer lol. Thanks for the hat tip! I know of a Dots in Buffalo and were heading over to shop in a few weeks so i'll see if they are still selling beach hats! Yours looks fabulous!

That was a great deal! We're flying from buffalo too but were flying during the holidays so cost is higher. Looked into southwest but one way was at least $350 -450! We ended up with round trip price of $600. Still way cheaper than flying from yyz.

  3. I love love love your beach hat!! What store did you get that from, if you don't mind me asking? As well, I'd like to know your experience flying down to FLL from Ontario I'm assuming. Were flights reasonably priced for you two? What airline did you use and your thoughts about it? We'll also be on the freedom soon but a different itinerary and I was shocked that there were minimal direct flights! Looking forward to the rest of your review! :-)

  4. Nada on the flavored Cruzan for Bon Voyage, sorry.

I do recall it in the inboard store, to bring home, though.

They definitely have flavored cruzan on the ship store on board but I think they are more expensive there than if you buy it in port.

My fav is vanilla! Goes great with everything!! :-)

  5. Generally, I think that one would only add milk to the black teas--English Breakfast, Earl Grey, etc. It's a more "British" way of drinking tea. A true tea drinker will brew their tea in a separate pot... and then pour it over their milk (& sugar). The argument is that pouring the milk into the hot tea somehow scalds the milk.

Not about tea time as I've never been, but this reminds me of a story about asking for milk with my tea in the MDR. A few cruises back, during dessert, I asked for milk with my tea and the server and my family members that I was travelling with thought it was the oddest thing that I wanted milk with my tea lol. I'm Canadian and they're Southern Americans so I was met with looks of shock! Even the server started asking questions about how it tastes with milk lol. Throughout the rest of the week, if I asked for tea, the server knew to bring milk with it without me having to ask :) And yes, its usually the black teas you add with milk (orange pekoe is my fav to have with milk).

  6. I've read a lot of negative things about luggage becoming damaged during embarkation at the San Juan port. I know that Carnival allows self-carry on at some ports (provided your luggage meets the size criteria), would San Juan be one of them?
