  1. I've heard that the Panorama needs to go to Portland for repairs on one of her azipods.  In Portland there is a large submersible drydock.  But the ship is too tall to go under the fixed bridges on the mighty Columbia River.

She could dock at Astoria, Oregon where her stacks could be disassembled, which would allow her to fit under the bridges and continue on to Portland.

If it isn't possible to do that in Astoria she might have to travel to Canada to have the stacks removed and then back down to Portland.

Whole thing is really weird!  Reminds me of a long ago story about a young woman who went missing from a ship and was never found.

Amy Bradley?  In 1998 she went missing from a cruise ship as well.  There were unconfirmed sightings of her but she was never found.

Her family assumed the cruise ship was searched thoroughly before the next round of passengers boarded but it turns out it was not.  The cruiseline wasn't helpful and seemed like the local police couldn't do anything either.

I hope you don't mind me asking a few questions.  We sail next week as well.  We are flying from Nashville, and going to Knotts before the cruise.  I would like to first ask what you did while you were in port?  We have a few things planned, but still open to suggestions. DH and myself have been there several times in advance, but the other travelers have not.  There are 8 people in our group.  Grandparents, our son and his family. I may think of more, so I hope you will bear with me.  I also want to eat the seafood restaurant!  Wanting a good lobster roll!  Jiji's is on my list for lunch. Any show you recommend we don't miss?  Thanks in advance!

Make sure you hit Jiji's for dinner.  It is very good (and not like lunchtime).  I almost want to book another cruise just to eat dinner at Jiji's again

I LOVED the Spirit! That was more than 10 years ago and I know it's been updated a bit since. But it is a beautiful gem of a ship.

Good to know.  I just booked a cruise to Alaska on Spirit for next month.  It was another killer deal.  $70 for a balcony and it's 8 days so I said Yes Please and Thank You Very Much.

  5. @sid_9169 I will be in Atlanta the last week of May/beginning of June.  I'm looking for places to eat.  Not Houston's as I won't be with "the boss" 😉

Last year I was in Miami and did a few of your haunts (like CoyoTaco).  I'm looking for a local flavor and will have a rental car.  We are staying at the Marriott Marquis on Peachtree Center Ave NE.

I just looked at Karv Kitchen and it looks to be about 12 miles away.  Which is doable if the place is worth it.

No allergies or food aversions.  I usually look to Yelp but since I now know a guy ...

    TIA

  6. I just booked a Carnival cruise for a long weekend.  It was $30/person.  It's the Carnival Radiance and I haven't been on that ship.  It's CA's "new" weekend ship since Carnival got rid of the Imagination and Inspiration.

How could I say "no" to $30/person?

@sid_9169 maybe you can answer a question raised on JLR81's review... how are they handling the muster sign in now that it's whenever you board? Are they giving out the S&S cards at embarkation like they used to or still giving them to you in your mail slot at 1:30? If the latter, I don't understand how they're tracking people who do muster before 1:30...

Yep, as TravelingGirlInDallas assumed, we used our boarding passes.  They scanned the barcode on our boarding pass and we got through the 5 second muster drill .  It was so quick and easy and was the first thing we did

  8. Can I mention how I would go on Royal Caribbean's new cruise?   274 nights.  11 world wonders.  7 continents.  60+ countries.

I would go in a heartbeat.

    If I didn't have a job.

    If I had the money.

If we could bring our dog.

If someone would take care of our house.

I think it would be amazing.
