  1. Happened to see what our ship's name meant and it was perfect! We did set up 3 couples and 2/3 of them are still happily married.. I would call that a win.βœ”οΈ
  2. Lunch on board.. not sure this was the right menu though.. don't see any fettuccine alfredo.πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
  3. SUNDAY - OCTOBER 29 - Good morning Golubac Fortress and the Iron Gates. We chose the included Golubac Fortress tour that was a very short walk from the ship.
  4. Back at the cabin the Viking Daily was waiting for us as always.😊 And an invitation to a cocktail party.. nice!🍸
  5. The other "entertainment" were the barges along the river that are nightclubs. Since it was Saturday night they were hopping. You could hear the loud music as we were pulling away from the dock.. club goers were having lots of fun!πŸ’ƒπŸ₯³
  6. The evening's entertainment was a very talented local Serbian dance troupe. Who were very sweet about posing for a picture after the show!😍
  7. Back to the ship for lunch and then walked into town to explore more. The ship ran shuttles but if you can take stairs it's a few flights straight up from the dock. On the bus we had passed the beautiful and historic Hotel Moskva. I wanted to go back and see the lobby. They are famous for their Moskva Schnitte cake. Too full from lunch we didn't try it but it looked good!
  8. 😊And then look what we visited next.. The "poster church" for Viking's Passage to Eastern Europe cruise!
  9. The train station in Belgrade was on of the stops on the original Orient Express. Tito's Mausoleum called "The House of Flowers." Nikola Tesla was a native son of Serbia.
  10. And to my delight there was a Petit Bateau store! Best place to buy a gift for a brand new granddaughter.πŸ’—
  11. I chose the included "Panoramic Belgrade" tour and it was great I absolutely loved the city.. have always wanted to visit and now we were! Another great guide.. so knowledgeable and interesting.
  12. SATURDAY - OCTOBER 28. Good morning Belgrade! Venus was visible in the early morning sky.πŸŒ™
  13. πŸ‘‹ Good morning! Daylight savings just added another hour to my jet lag.😴 Back to the Danube and onto Friday's dinner!
  14. More from Vukovar. This building was damaged beyond repair so the owner made it a monument to the War of Independence brightened with flowers to show hope. Another memorial to the war near the dock. Last but not least Vukovar's water tower that was purposely left damaged is the city's symbol of the tragedy of the Croatian War of Independence.
  15. After lunch we walked around Vukovar a bit. Gabriel told us this was the last place to get euros out of a cash machine since the remaining countries did not use euros. We never did exchange any money for the local currencies and used the euros we brought with us saved from our last trip to Europe. I was a little concerned at first but then realized that most merchants took credit cards (mostly Visa) for even the smallest of purchases. I also realized for tour guides and tips I should have brought more bills in $5's and $10's and also Euros in denominations of 5's and 10's. I will make a note of that for next time.. don't just bring $20's. Yum! My kind of wine!! Since I can't smell any wine is good wine to me. Also love the plastic soda bottle container. Simple yet effective.😁
  16. πŸ˜‹ Back on the ship in time for lunch.🍽️ If I was going to make a suggestion I wished that on this cruise Viking offered a buffet lunch. Sometimes you just want to grab something quickly and not wait for a fully served meal. It's also nice to be able to take a little bit of this and a little bit of that. Just a suggestion.. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ
