With due respect you are showing the Beer Menu for the upscale beer selections.   There are still quit a number of beers available at the Classic Beverage Package  Bud, Bud Light, Dos Equis  Coors, Anstel Light, Heineken and Miller Light.  Most be what most would order at their home bar.

There is no logic in the pricing of beer. The wholesale cost of the “upscale” beers are similar and certainly doesn’t justify the additional cost. The beers priced at $11 could easily be included in classic package.

I think that Celebrity should have a package that includes beers wines martinis and spirits that excludes genuine upscale drinks.

  2. If you are docked, you will need to get a coach transfer which Celebrity will provide. The ship will be berthed next to the main ferry terminal. As mentioned in last post there is a ferry to get you.

Yes, I’ve sailed 3 times this year on Celebrity and know the procedure. I noticed that the Safety button has also disappeared from the app for our sailing, so it’s looking more and more to be a glitch.

Probably is a glitch. I usually use website and use the app for final health checks the day before sailing. I have found the app to be glitchy.

Try again on the 20th and if still a problem, contact Celebrity

In another post someone said they had this cruise booked and did not have to fly to Europe to do so. Can someone tell me the port of departure on this,,please?

In 2020, the Celebrity Summit was scheduled to sail from Cape liberty to Dublin with port calls in Nova Scotia, Greenland and Iceland with a return journey to Boston. In 2021, same ship was on similar journey but finishing in Southampton. Unfortunately, both these cruises were cancelled because of Covid.

Unfortunately those itineraries were not rescheduled but the subsequent cruise from 2022 only went to Iceland before returning to Boston.

very disappointing as we were booked on the 2020 cruise.

We're also on Silhouette in October, so I'm going to assume you're sailing out of Southampton. When the ship is sailing out of the UK the menu prices must include VAT and so the allowed limit for the drinks packages is the equivalent 20% higher (eg. $12 for the Classic Package and $18 for the Premium). I've been confused by this in the past! Hopefully that means there will be a few more wines available to you without upcharge.

Vat is NOT included in the price of drinks. What you see is the cost inclusive of the 20% gratuity. So the upper limits are $12 and $20. Elsewhere the cost is $10 +20% and $17 + 20%. Any up charges will be the same - only difference is that the gratuity is included rather than shown separately.

  6. It is interesting to see what beers and wines are included in the classic and premium packages. From my point of view, there is no logic in the selection of what is considered classic or premium. For example, Villa Marie Sauvignon Blanc is any everyday drinking wine which is one of our preferred wines but I would not consider it premium. Our local supermarket sells this for around £8/9. How do you define premium drinks?

Also why is Blue Moon beer considered to be Premium.

At the end of the day, why not have one category and be prepared to pay extra for genuine premium drinks. For example an 18 Year old MacAllan or top notch Champagne?

  7. I have not seen MacAllan 12 or 18 year old on any recent cruise. Non age statement Quest and Lumina are readily available. Aberfeldy and Highland park 12 year old also readily available. Like Macallan, travel trade versions of Glenlivet and Glenfiddich are also available.

  8. We had a meal in Tuscan Grill whist we were in Bilbao. To avoid the additional tax, the bill was prepared after we sailed.

On recent cruise, drinks up charge included extra tax - instead of $2.4 we were charged $2.6. No tax on drinks within classic limit.

  9. Your heading states that you’re just off the Infinity but when was your cruise?

It does not appear to be the same cruise that we completed yesterday.

We had a good experience. We were in Blu. Food and service was good. There was a good and varied choice of food in Oceanview cafe. Drinks service was variable. Standards have dropped and cost cuttings were apparent.

There was only one tendered port - this appear to run smoothly but we got off later in the day.

Are guests on Silhouette routinely checked for COVID -19 by the medical staff -  or do they bring their own lateral flow test onboard with them to keep testing themselves and then report a positive test ?

There were no routine checks for Covid. I believe that is up to the guest to contact medical staff if the think they had COVID. We brought our own test kits which we used in Greenock as we were visiting family.

  11. Hi,

A straight forward question for those of you who have sailed recently from Southampton. On chic nights, we’re there many men wearing DJs or suits. I am happy to dress up where appropriate and want to know if I should pack my DJ / Suit. I really want to know if I would be out of place and want to know what fellow cruisers observed.

  12. We will be sailing from Southampton on Aug 29. Pre cruise requirements are reasonably clear.

First question relates to pre cruise Antigen test. I have the tests booked for Sunday 28th at a local pharmacy. If for some reason the test is cancelled, will Celebrity offer a pre cruise at checkin bearing in mind unvaccinated guests can do one then?

The second one relates to the Celeb app and the inclusion of a photo of vaccine record. I have the documentation obtained from NHS. Can I use a photo of this document.

We will ask Celebrity as well.

  13. We were originally booked on September 4 cruise. We cancelled this last month and didn’t want to pay the balance. We suspected that the cruise would cancelled and decided to “jump ship”. We had previously booked this whilst on board and deposit and OBC has been transferred to our rebooked cruise for August 2022. As we opted to cancel, we are paying the current fare. We are in effect getting a 12 day cruise for the price of a14 day cruise.

Here's what's on the X website that was posted on Thursday, April 8th, 2021.

Celebrity Cruises announced today that it is extending the suspension of some sailings, including all sailings from the United States until June 30, while continuing its measured return to service with more sailings scheduled from different regions around the world.

While we continue to work with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in the United States and government authorities around the world, we have made the following adjustments to upcoming 2021 itineraries:

    Suspending sailings through June 30

Excluding all ships which have recently announced many new homeports around the globe

But that was over a month ago!! We are looking for an upto date announcement.
