  1. Getting the advertised perk for the elevated C&A level is hit or miss. They are rarely in the cabin ( unless we are in a suite) , so if we want them, we simply ask. Often the room attendants looks at us as if we are speaking Klingon. We have to explain why we are supposed to get them, they always say "I will try", and we usually receive them by the second day. We sometime get the Gilchrest and Soames and sometimes get a more generic brand.

ps - my pet peeve is having to ask ( beg) for the benefits RCCL advertises they will provide to me.

This "issue" has been a pet peeve of mine since reaching Pinnacle status. While shampoo is just that, shampoo, I notice my "upgraded amenities" have been quietly downgraded to cheap white tubes rather than the Gilchrist I earned when I made it to 340 points. When I request it, I receive it or the L'Occitane but stateroom attendants have no idea what I am talking about until I request deck supervisor and then they understand. I am loyal but I NOTICE that suite passengers are well taken care of as they should but once reaching Pinnacle, the perks are nice but are being chipped away very quietly.

  2. Hi

Currently on Navigator and was on Anthem last year. Navigator, sadly, does not currently have "real" Voom. I have 2 device Surf and Stream package and getting around 2mb up and down - but very jumpy and ping of over 700ms. Its usable and can email, Facebook and basic surfing and even managed to stream a little video. It's good enough for what i want and so not going to ask for money back but its not the Voom i had on Anthem last year which was a LOT faster! Bad on RCL for trying to market it as the same thing.

    Will upload some speedtest.bet later.

Other than than Oasis and Quantum class, the Voom is not quite Voom. We were just on Jewel and we're getting more than dialup to 1.1 Mbps.

  3. Yes for the LGBT Group then maybe we can a put a note in the bulletin onboard for other LGBT that are not on CC.

Guys please suggest for at least the first meeting that we can all go together then we plan our next meeting moving forward onboard.

Maybe first meeting right after sailaway party? Just to say hi hello and get to know each other's faces then we decide when is the next meeting etc?

    Suggestions are much appreciated. Thanks

Just my thoughts. Sail away is so busy with people all over the place running for elevators as well as trying to find their way around the ship if never on Oasis class. Perhaps later in the day or the next. My partner and I board tomorrow for the 3-day before the crowds show up on Sunday.

  4. Well there ya go. Thank you for this info.

I now declare this thread null and void. :p:p:p heehee

My hunch was there would be a bunch of us on board tomorrow. Does anyone know the name of the Concierge Manager on deck 10 and whether or not we will have overflow for D+ and above?

  5. I hope it works out. I'm no expert, but everyone seems to think the system is designed for an equatorial rotation. Something to do with providing internet to developing countries. Norway was never that market.

We just departed Navigator last week and by far, there was NO voom available.

  6. Myself, partner and 2 friends all booked, haven't seen another post so thought I'd start one. Who else onboard? [emoji3]

My partner, Brad and I will be on board with our good friends Jack and Addison. We just moved from Navigator to Indy due to appointment conflict. Now looking at misterbnb for a place to stay in London. Any ideas will be appreciated. Also, Brad likes to play Mexican Train dominoes if anybody is interested in board games.

  7. Welcome to our happy crew. Dick and Joe here from Winter Haven. Good to have you with us!

Our favorite hotel in Barcelona is the Hotel Continental right on Las Ramblas. It's tacky chic with free food, wine, beer and soft drinks plus free wifi. We are booked but will have to cancel since we booked the 3-day from Rome to Barcelona.

  8. It is nice to see that this thread is so active, considering it is a G&L Roll Call and that the cruise is still so far out.

I am not sure if I have the time to devote to the regular roll call for this cruise...anyone else checked in yet over on that one?

diknjoe and MisterMom, look forward to talking to you about the Raleigh/Durham/Chapel Hill area...perhaps there will be some people that we all know!

Has anyone planned excursions yet? Perhaps I should peak at the regular roll call and see.

My partner Brad and I (Michael) will be on board from the 3-day from Rome to Barcelona and then the crossing. Hope to meet this group.

  9. They do not, nor do they have a suite line. "yet" Port Everglades rocks!!!

Keep in mind, you MUST MUST MUST, have your global entry card to show CBP, as PEV does not have global entry kiosks, so passports will not be able to be scanned to prove membership. Only the card!!!!

Last week, disembarking Navigator with Global Entry cards in our hands, Terminal crew almost made us stand in line since they didn't know how to handle the cards. My advice is to MAKE SURE you are assertive once off the ship.

  10. They are included in the auto gratuities!!!!!

I asked the maitre'd for Coastal Kitchen on Oasis about it since we were wondering about tipping. He assured us that all the waiters in CK are indeed covered in the auto grats. We ended up having a favorite waiter that we requested a few times. We tipped extra and he saw us later over in the Suite Lounge and made a point to come over and thank us personally. Class act.

Both the bar servers and waiters are indeed part of the tip share.

This is such good news to read since I will be doing Jan 2 and 9th on Oasis and plan to have all our meals in Coastal Kitchen. We just made Pinnacle and happy to hang out on deck 17.

  11. We are a day away from booking a 2016 Med cruise on RCCL's Brilliance of the Seas. I know, crazy right, booking 16 months ahead.:D We could not pass up the current promotion of 50% of the second guest! This will be my first cruise on RCCL but have sailed with Celebrity in the past. Since RCCL is the parent company for Celebrity (I hope I am correct with that statement) will my loyalty points/benefits with Celebrity transfer to RCCL?

Sorry but you can't transfer points from one cruise line to the other.

  12. Hey Gang,

    Let's get this started.

I'm assuming there'll be a lot of us and a lot of Diamond & above.

Tom and I look forward to seeing you all on-board.

Any thoughts on Malaga? We're hoping to get to the Alhambra in Granada.

    Happy Sailing.

    Toby.

Hi guys, my partner Brad and I will be on board for the crossing, as well as the week prior for my birthday. We are hoping to meet on board. We are Diamond Plus and will hang out in the Concierge Lounge each night.

  13. Just read that Rich Edwards will be CD on Grandeur from October 16 until February 2015. Have not cruised with him or heard his name before. Does anyone have any info on him?

We have been on the Liberty the past few months and Rich Edwards has been the CD. I agree with another post and that is wherever you see Rich, there is going to be a nice times because he is personable and fun.

  14. So bummed! I just paid $900 more to switch from my perfect balcony cabin to a "W" guarantee... My travel agent convinced me that since Jr. Suites were sold out AND wait listed, that I stood an excellent chance of being upgraded to a suite with all the suite perks. Well...boo hoo... Paid the $$ and received a Jr. Suite!

Now, the TA feels badly but she says that unless I want to pay another $3000 (I definitely do not), then I can ask at the pier to see if there are any available suites and try to upgrade then, for hopefully, a lower price than is currently on RCCL's website for the suite guarantee.

Has anyone ever had any luck upgrading at the pier? I am happy to pay a nominal price, but certainly not thousands of dollars more.

Thanks for listening... Still super excited about the cruise, just bummed about tossing $900 out the window for the Jr. Suite that has no benefits except square feet (was excited about the concierge lounge, since we are only Diamond and really wanted the special breakfasts and lunches with wine/beer).

    :)

Here's another sad story for you. Junior Suites don't qualify for a gold card to enter Concierge Club. It does, however provide double points so you can achieve Diamond plus status more quickly.

  15. Just got notified that the 10/31/15 transatlantic 14 day on the Anthem is no more. According to RCCL it is now a 10/27 sailing (8 day to Bayonne). Needless to say I am a lot annoyed since I had a fantastic rate on the 10/31 sailing. They said they will protect the rate but a great rate for a 14 day is not so great for an 8 day. Also going into Bayonne instead of Port Ev means plane fare. Never experienced this before and I think the compensation is a joke. They also said they will not pay for flight change fees. Good thing I did not get my flights.

I just checked RCCL website which still shows the 14-night crossing. We are booked on it and so far, it is still sailing from Southhampton. Where did you get that information?
