Another thank you from me to Damien, for starting this interesting thread and everyone who has contributed to it. It has been a welcome change and such a happy complimentary crowd.

Lovely, my son is going through the process of buying a house in Whitstable and I am looking forward to visiting him there. We both enjoy that area so much and it's only just over an hour from where we live so I can get a taste of the sea without having to cruise.

My final set of Ws - Whitsunday Islands, NZ. We had a trip in a seaplane to see the Great Barrier reef from the air. The seaplane itself was a first for us and we had the added bonus of taking off and landing on both land and sea as we had to pick people up on the way. As we were the first to board this very small plane I got to sit at the front next to the pilot. It was a wonderful experience.
Photos are of Oriana, the sea plane, the Great Barrier Reef and Whitehaven Beach which was spectacular seen from the sky.

We were on that cruise too and saw these ships. The port official told me that the one nearest the port gate was for the crew!

Virgin Gorda on Seabourne Pride and their special treat of Champagne and caviar in the surf. Wonderful experience for my 60th birthday some years ago now.

Here is Oriana in Trieste in October 2017. We were supposed to go to Venice, but were told that we couldn’t get in due to fog. The trouble was other ships did get in to Venice that day and everyone looked at webcams which showed there was no fog! At least we got to see somewhere different that doesn’t get to appear on many P&O itineraries.
Yes, we were on that cruise too - see above. We were told the pilots could not take in because of fog. Oops, sorry the time we could not get in was Christmas Eve 2013.

Finally, for my Ts something a bit different. It possibly overlaps with the "What are things like where you are" thread where there has been a discussion on the birds people have seen. problem for us is that Wood Pidgeons have nested in our Yew tree this year and the other small birds have been scared away.
T is for Turtle Dove who hitched a ride on our Adonia balcony when we had left Malaga and were headed for Southampton. I was told they are quite rare, so someone might like to see this as it's on a ship.
