  1. I did a price comparison with NCL for my upcoming Mexican Riviera cruise on the Miracle. The same time period, same amount of days, NCL with a "free" drink package...it was almost exactly the same amount as Carnival PLUS the Cheers package. Nothing is ever free, with other lines it's just built into the cost of the cruise. At least, that is what I found when comparing cruises :).

  2. I'm booked in this one in October 2017. I'm a little concerned about the lanai area feeling closed in with the big gate leading to the Plaza Bar and the wind barrier on the balcony. Hoping someone who stayed in one of these can tell me their experience.

  3. I've been allowed to go to a guaranteed rate while booked ES even AFTER final payment. My PVP said they have a one-time allowance to do this, however, I couldn't take advantage of any other price drops until AFTER my cabin had been assigned.

OP, you also mentioned you were in a specific cabin...if you switch to a guarantee, you give that cabin up. I'm sure you know that though :).

  4. So i just realized that i booked an adjoining room with the door on the wall. From what i understand, you can hear your neighbors much more easily in those rooms. As i was looking to change my room, i can actually get an Aft balcony on deck 7 for $18 more (total per person) I had an aft on a Princess cruise and loved it, but never on carnival.

The room would be either 7462 or 7463. Anyone have any thoughts?

I hate the noise from adjoining rooms unless I am with the passengers in the other room. I'd go for the aft!

  5. I just bought one with my AA card. Yay! Thanks everyone. It said "invalid card" in red as I started typing the number in but then when I was done it went away and the number became black. I will use the FF miles a lot more than those Citi points!

That's why I pay with miy AA card :-). However I didn't realize it's the other card that gets me into Easy Deals not the AA card lol. Learn something new (and sometimes accurate like today) everyday on CC.

  6. Not completely true. You must pay for them with a Citi credit card, but not necessarily THE ONE with the deals. When I get them, the deals are from my wife's card, but I pay using my Citi Card. The only thing the cards have in common is the issuing bank, they are not even the same type, mine is an AA one.

I know I couldn't log in too Easy Deals with a card that wasn't eligible. But I do pay with my AA card that is linked to my other one. Nice information! Maybe I'll try to pay with my husbands next time lol.

  7. I tried that before and it wouldn't let me. When I'm ready to get some more I'll try one of my other 2 Citi cards. One is AA and the other is Hilton HHonors. This could be great news as I'd rather earn miles instead of more Citi points that I'll never use! Thanks for the info.

    My AA card works :-).

  8. This upcoming trip we are getting FTTF for the first time. I know what we get from the package, but for those of you who have gotten it before, I have a few questions:

    1) Are the rooms typically ready as soon as you board the ship, even if you are one of the first on? How can you tell if it's ready, and does anyone question when you go through the closed doors?

    2) How fast does your luggage typically arrive?

A lot of the reason I got FTTF was for the room and luggage arrival. Last time our luggage didn't arrive until after dinner, which made me quite nervous. I want to get settled in a lot quicker. Just looking for an idea of what to expect. Thanks!

In my experiences (I've had FTTF 4-5 times), my cabin has always been ready. There is a sign on the closed doors that welcome Diamond, Platinum and FTTF to go through. As far as luggage, it's kind of hit & miss. Last cruise mine was there by 2 or so but my moms was after 5.

  9. We leave in two weeks to go to Cozumel, Roatan and Belize. I refuse to live my life in fear so there is no way I'd consider cancelling, however I will be using mosquito repellant! I'd think twice if I was pregnant though :-(.

  10. I guess I don't understand the big deal. As a coffee drinker, we are provided 2 options, regular or decaf. I like some variety so I bring my Starbucks Via packets and don't feel that this a problem. I just don't let little things ruin my vacation, the less drama and negativity the better.

  11. I can understand removing multiple flavors on the Lido deck. I am sure some people just rob the box blind. That's the problem with an honor system. Some people just have no honor.

But I don't think they should charge for it in the dining rooms and restaurants; just serve it upon request.

    I totally agree.

Coffee drinkers have always paid for their "flavored" coffee, even in the MDR. It shouldn't be a deal breaker on whether or not you like Carnival, but to each their own. It's vacation, as long as I know what I will have to pay for, I'm good with that. Just hate surprise costs once I'm in vacation mode. Be an educated passenger and you'll know how to plan :).

  12. Splendor is not listed as coming soon on the Guy's page on carnival dot com. With her going to China, I wouldn't hold your breath for guys. I'm pretty sure that's why the Miracle didn't get it. Still haven't quite figured out why the Victory didn't....

Unfortunately, you are correct...the Miracle did not get Guy's :(.
