unfortunately you cant do day before checkin for caribbean flights (or dubrovnik afaik?)
baggage labels with your cabin number will be given to you at the bag drop desk on the day (gatwick.... dont know about other airports)

its best to check with your travel medic for individual vaccination advice
but if you are wondering if any vacinations are an immigration requirement?
we did this itinerary last christmas cuba mexico panama costa rica etc... we didnt have any vaccinations (we were all up to date) and were never asked to provide any vaccination certificates
i would recommend a good insect repellent (costa rica/panama)
hope this helps

contact Nigel Calder
good idea
if enough people contact him he would be in a good position to demand some sort of explanation from thomsons

Why are they doing military exercises near international airports?
thats just what they are telling us linda.... i find it hard to believe that they would be firing live missiles anywhere near a comercial flight path:(
-
yep... cheap rucksack & cheap sandals.... which you could probably pick up out there very cheaply;)
i usually buy a couple of those cheap combination padlocks so that i can lock up my rucksack (through the zipper pulls) and padlock it to a tree (or someting?)
once a day sun lotion (p20) put it on before you go no need to take it to the beach
I find those little waterproof phone cases useful (they sell them on the plane) I clip it to the inside of of my shorts pocket and keep a few dollars & ship card in there.... i have a waterproof camera which i keep with me in the water (with a floaty strap)

i dont think you are alone in feeling that way linda, hopefully travel companies will do the right thing for their customers and allow people to switch .... its looking increasingly likely that egypt is not gonna be back on the tourist map anytime soon tbh

tbh linda that sounds pretty nice .... makadi bay is lovely (we have been there) it wont be too busy only a couple of flights a week from UK going there... maybe even just one flight a week?.... lots of security in that area locals are used to tourists and are pretty friendly/westernised
makadi water park is quite good.... ok its a water park with rides/slides? but an all day all inclusive ticket is cheap, includes food and drink, nice big pool, terraces, sunbeds, gardens, palm trees, fixed price no hassle shops, lots of diffrent cafe bars (no alcohol btw) its a large site and it'll be pretty quiet

discovery dream & celeb use the same hotel agency as was used on the old ie.... so you may see some ex ie staff
maj & spirit are run by a different agency
there's good community of pax from all over uk and beyond and from all walks of life & age groups on all thomsons ships imo
have a good one:cool:

we ditched sharm this year .... we had been going there (with family in tow) first week in november  for several years, we did breifly toy with the canaries for november but in the end we decided to stay at home this year
are you definately switching from sharm linda? probably a good chance that you can change without any financial loss

the Premier Inn at Gatwick was snapped up when it went down to £39 for the pre flight stay. :) :)
oooh! not bad:cool: ... is that by booking direct with premier inn or thru a holiday extras style site

its a long walk around the port to get to the town, the main part of the town is pretty level some shops are up a steep hill and the gardens have lots of steps (but I think there are ramps?)
the cable car is accessible (they have an adapted car)
I think? the port run golf carts up to the start of the town for people with low mobility (someone will be along who knows for sure)
if not? taxis are available from the ships gangway, a taxi tour may be the way togo? away from the port area/center of town the rest of funchal is pretty hilly
