  1. SiBreeze.. We are on your cruise. No mini suite GNTY assigment yet. I guess we will all be bunking side by side in the lifeboats :)

BrandiGreg.. The mature side of me knows this. But it takes Princess a while to get around to E Mailing you. I want to find out ASAP!

Did you guys get your cabin yet? We are still waiting. :( One week from today we will be on the ship. YEAH!

I wonder if this means they over sold on the mini's and are looking for folks to move over?

For some weird reason, now when I check the personalizer I get really nervous as to what cabin number I am going to see!

  2. I just called the travel agency we used in the past, and I got some info that sounded not exactly correct. I was getting pricing for a Crown Princess cruise next March and I asked about getting a Guarantee, instead of a room and she told me that they don't do that? That you have to pick a room? I said it wasn't like that last year and she said that you had to pick a room. Did something change or is she wrong? Thanks

Your TA is incorrect. Find a new one quick!

  3. This robe debate is so ridiculous. Everyone claims they are 5'2" 98 lbs soaking wet and the robes don't fit them. I am 5'7" 160 lbs and have never had a problem with the robes.

Stop griping and just bring your own if you don't like the ones Princess supplies for free. Maybe they supply old crappy ones so people aren't 'accidentally' packing them in their suitcases. ;)

Should Princess keep a closet of brand new velour robes in assorted sizes so everyone can have a new one that fits properly?

  4. I had a guarantee for the Sept 20 cruise, day before yesterday at 2pm I did not have a cabin at 230pm I had a cabin. I check all the booked cruises several times a day, primarily to see any price has dropped.

That is the cruise we are on. :) Sept 20 on the CB. We have a guarantee mini and they have been sold out for a couple of weeks now, while all other categories remain open.

The suspense is killing me. Glad your wait is over. ;)

  5. Yes, I know guarantees can be assigned any time from when you book, up until you arrive at the pier.

My question is, now that it is less than 2 weeks until we sail, is there anyone else out there who obsessively checks their personalizer multiple times a day to see if a cabin has been assigned yet? :D:eek:

  6. Agree with others that good behavior is the key, and not disrupting the other guests. Events like the Island Deck party would be perfect for kids.

I have seen children out on the dance floor "dancing" which basically consists of wildly gyrating and running around crazy on the dance floor, which I consider completely inappropriate. Way too easy to run into someone and injure them. I often wonder what their parents are thinking...

Those parents are thinking how cute and precious their kids are.

  7. Love the Caribe deck balconies. The mid ship cabins on that deck are now classified Delux. Go towards the rear on Caribe and those same size balconies and cabins are classified BD> that is our new home from now on.(the 700 numbered cabins). Caribe balconies much larger than Baja. By the way, if Caribe is more expensive, I would still pay it. We use our balcony a lot on Caribbean crusies. Don't pay for Delux category, do what I said and go toward the rear.

Wow, quite a strong statement. Not everyone likes aft cabins, nor does everyone think the Caribe deck is the best.

  8. I would say, "I am going to the terminal at 10:30 AM. If you would like to join me, great. Otherwise I'll meet you onboard later." End of story. It's your vacation too. This way, each person can do what suits them best.

I hope they are not the type of people who will not do anything by themselves. I once cruised with a friend who would not leave my side. It was her first cruise. The only time I was away from her, was when I was in the bathroom.

I like to travel with folks who are independent. They aren't afraid to go on an excursion or simply up to the buffet by themselves. I hate when everyone has to agree to do the same thing at the same time. :(

  9. Personally, I like the forward Lido deck area when I am cruising solo .... very quiet, and readily accessible to the pool area and the forward elevators, and a brief walk to the Horizon Court.

I've cruised in cabins in that area 3 times so far, including a transatlantic, and have not had any problem with "ocean motion".

I agree, I've had insides on the Lido deck and it was great. Nice and quiet and just a short walk to get outside and see the sights. Not to mention the close proximity to the food!! :D

  10. I would never take a "dance cruise" on any ship. The floors just aren't big enough to accomodate a lot of dancers and most of the groups come with too many women who sort of hover around the dance floor ready to grab any loose man--even if you happen to let go of yours for even a minute. :p

On most cruises, however, there is a small group of ballroom dancers and there are almost always dance venues available. We are currently on the Golden, returning from Hawaii and, while the band in the Wheelhouse leaves much to be desired, the can play decent dance music when pressed to do so. Left alone, they would do endless jazz riffs.

We have also had a lot of fun dancing to Elua in the Piazza most afternoons, and yesterday they had a ballroom showcase. Tonight they will have a ballroom orchestra in the Wheelhouse.

We also have a couple on this cruise who brought some excellent recorded dance music and they are playing it in the ballroom every evening from 4:00 until 6:00 p.m.

It all usually works out in the end.

Unless you have traveled with Dancers At Sea, please do not comment on how they operate. I have traveled with them, and they are great. There is no excess of women hovering to snatch your man. They know ahead of time how many women and men are traveling with them and plan accordingly to have pro's to dance with the folks traveling with them. Traveling with a dance group you do not need to find partners, they are supplied for you. We had private times in the Wheelhouse for dancing as well as scheduled times in Club Fusion.

  11. Don't expect too much from Princess in terms of ballroom dancing. There is dancing in the Wheelhouse, but most likey not exactly what you will be looking for. If you really want a ballroom experience while on a cruise, I would suggest checking out dancersatsea dot com. You will have a great ballroom dancing experience while at sea with them. :)

  12. I have never see the ham and cheese croissants that they have

at the i.cafe available in the lido.

Although, in the past year or so, these have been down-sized

-- so, if you want a reasonable ratio of ham+cheese to croissant,

you need to combine two or three.

Also, I have never see the yogurt parfaits in a high ball glass

other than at the i.cafe; or the gelatto.

I didn't say anything about the sandwichs, salads, gelato, yogurt parfaits. My comment was regarding the pastry. The pastry is the same as you get at the Horizon Court. People seem to think it is better or special just because it came from the IC. :D

  13. It makes me laugh when I see things like polenta on the menu & people think it's something special and exotic. :D:D

Yes, like when people RAVE about the pastry at the International Cafe. Hello?? It's the exact same stuff they have at the Horizon Court. (I have personally gotten items from the Cafe, brought them up to the Court to compare.) Presentation is everything. Put a dry danish behind a glass at the "International Cafe", with a guy in a chef's outfit, and it is to die for. Have the same danish at the Horizon Court and it is a stale piece of bread. ;)

I've had the Volcano. It is a banana split with a fancy name. Unless some of you are really really small eaters, it is not that big. 1/2 banana, 3 small scoops of ice cream, chocolate sauce, whipped cream and sprinkles.

We don't try to maximize our food dollar by eating the most expensive items. We eat what we feel like having. Some nights I'm happy to order room service and get a club sandwich. Sometimes the MDR, depending on what they are serving. I have no complaints with the Horizon Court. I personally love German night, which I have never seen in the MDR. If you haven't had a hot dog from the Grill. Don't knock it. They are surprisingly yummy! :D

I agree, if you cruise alot the MDR menu can get pretty tiresome. If you cruise once every couple of years, yeah, I can see it would be more of an attraction. :)

  14. Is this your experience?

Yes it was. We just got off the Emerald and reported our neighbors smoking in their cabin. The smell was coming into our cabin. The room steward knew they were smoking as well. We were told that unless they are caught with a lit cigarette in their hand nothing can be done because their room could smell smokey from their clothes. Just another example of Princess not enforcing it's own policies.

  15. Hey (and dont flame me about this non-smokers)

im wondering what its been like for smokers on princess since they scrapped smoking on the balcony.....

If anyone could please advise it would be really appreciated

You can smoke up a storm on your balcony or in your cabin if you like. Unless Princess catches you with a lit cigarette in your hand they will do nothing.

  16. We just returned home from the Emerald. One night we were awakened by the smell of cigarette smoke in our cabin, about 2am. Since smoking has been banned in the cabins and on balconys I questioned the steward about what happens if folks are smoking in their cabins. He told me that only if the passenger is caught with a lit cigarette in their hands will he call his supervisor. Even if their cabin wreaks of smoke they will do nothing. His response was "I am here to make money. If I report someone for smoking they will get mad at me and not leave me a tip. They might even make bad remarks on the comment cards and then I will be in trouble with my supervisor. On the ship, I SEE NOTHING".

We also attended the Chef's Table. The paperwork says that "closed toed shoes are required." One woman had on open toe shoes and another had sandels where her entire foot was exposed except for a tiny 1/4" strap that went across her foot. Nothing was said and both women entered the kitchen.

Again the same thing happened with the UST. 11 folks showed up wearing sneakers as instructed. One woman had on flip flops. The guide looked at everyones feet and then said to her "I guess you will be ok".

We were also seated with a gentleman on formal night, in the MDR, who was wearing a short sleeve sport shirt, no tie or jacket.

What the heck is going on here??????????

If Princess is unwilling to enforce their own rules, why should anyone else follow them.:mad::rolleyes::eek:

  17. DH and I are currently onboard the Island Princess and participated in the Princess Pop Choir that performed in the Atrium yesterday. This new Princess activity is great fun, so I'd like to share some information about the experience.

In preparation for our afternoon performance on a sea day, there were three rehearsals. Our instructor was Joe Sackenheim who is one of the lead vocalists onboard. Joe is charismatic, energetic, and very supportive of the passengers who opted to participate in the Pop Choir. We lost a few passengers after the first and second rehearsals but ended up with a group of 15, mostly women.

We received "scripts" with the lyrics for six selections that included: Oh, What A Night, Waterloo, Isn't She Lovely, It's Not Unusual, We Are the Champions, and Sweet Caroline. Joe coached our singing and taught simple choreography for each song. We were asked to wear black/white attire for our performance that was attended by about 100 passengers on various levels of the Atrium.

Whether you are a polished vocalist or sing in the shower, have had years of ballet training or two left feet, you will have enjoy participating in Princess Pop Choir. The program will soon be offered fleetwide, and musical selections will be rotated approximately every six months.

    "Glee"fully yours,

    Chris and Mike in Michigan

We did this on my last cruise on the Crown (Jan 15-22). We sang the same songs. We were also instructed to wear black and white. It was so much fun. I don't sing and consider myself fairly shy and I had a blast. I hope they have it on my next cruise.
