  1. Do any of you know what would happen if a cabin was booked through a casino offer - such as a free cabin except for taxes and port charges and then something happens and the person who originally had the casino offer couldn't go?  Would the 2nd person and or other people booked in the cabin still sail as usual or would there be an upcharge for their cabin?

    Anyone had this experience?

  2. I leave in a couple days for a short cruise.  I have an online offer of 20% off spa services.  Thought I might get a massage

eventhough I can get one much cheaper at home.  In the past, I have gotten offers while on the ship to book something at the

    spa.

Can any of you tell me what your experience has been with either and which might be the best deal?

  3. Sailing on the Sunshine and will need to be able to actually call home and talk to my kids.  My cell service is with AT&T.  Our only port is Half Moon Cay.

Will I be able to use Facebook Messenger audio call if I have the Wi-Fi package?

    Any tips or recommendations?

    Thanks in advance!

What do you mean smoking side? This isn't like in the old days when you could smoke in half of the main lounge. The only indoor smoking area is a portion of the Casino, and only when actively playing...There is a small smoking area outside on deck 3 near the guest services desk.

According to the link you sent smoking is allowed on the port side forward on deck 3 which is where our cabin will be.  I doubt we will be outside of our room in that area very much though - was just thinking about being able to keep our curtain open some.  Thank you!

As EM stated, that's big 'it depends' on the channels they carry and what else is on.  So things like the 2 College Football Semi-Finals games, I strongly suspect the answer will be yes. My research shows those games are on ESPN on Saturday evening, 12/31.  I'm quite confident that no NFL game is teed up to directly compete.  That would be dumb regular season programming.

Some lesser bowl like the "WhoGivesaDarn' Bowl on ESPN-3?  Outta luck.

It will definitely be a popular game and I agree that would be dumb programming.

I'll give you the advice that has worked or not worked in the past.  You can call the 800 Carnival number and speak with someone there.  Don't get the answer you want, call back.  Rinse.  Repeat.  You may or may not find someone more sympathetic who can waive or reduce the $300 fee.

This worked!  When I called my PVP the first time, she said they wouldn't waive any fees since they had reinstated pre Covid rules.  Wasn't ready to make the change that day anyway, so when I called back to make the change, I asked again if any of the fees and penalties could be waived (don't know unless you ask).  She told me to hold on and was gone for a few minutes, came back and made the change, asked me to hold again and when she came back she said she had been able to waive ALL the fees! I was so glad!  I really think it depends on what supervisor is on duty and maybe what kind of mood they are in.  Glad I tried a 2nd time!

This is not an official form, I got it from a Googled site----but when we've taken our teen age granddaughters on a cruise we've always had our son and DIL sign this form (whether you want it notarized or not is up to you and them). We've taken this signed form on three cruises and we have never been asked to show it or any type of proof by Carnival or the agents of the islands we're visiting. It does give us reassurance that in the event the teen needed medical care, the parents have okayed us to act on her behalf.

    !

This is perfect!  Thank you!  I love your user name by the way.

  8. We are sailing for New Years and my boyfriend’s granddaughter can’t go.  We have found a replacement for her but my PVP is telling me we’re going to have to pay an additional $300 just to switch names!  Personally, I think that’s ridiculous but I know she doesn’t make the rules.  Is there any way to get around that?  I’d be fine with maybe even $100 to change the name and date of birth but $300 seems way excessive.

Also, what documentation will I need from her parents showing I have permission to take her on this cruise?

Thanks guys, you’re always here to save the day!

  9. I've sailed many times before and never purchased Cheers.  I haven't cruised since February, 2020.

Things are different this time - lost my husband to Covid in 2021 and am sailing with my youngest children

and my new boyfriend for New Year's from Tampa.

I'm not a big drinker, like some of the fruity and chocolate drinks on occasion.  My boyfriend will definitely

be getting Cheers (we are booked in separate cabins because of kids ages) so I don't have to get it.  Thinking

with all the other drinks that you can get, it might still be worth it.

Thoughts please?  Also, price of drinks now would help too.  Things like Kiss on the Lips, etc.

    Thanks!

Hi GeorgiaMomof4.  We'll be on this sailing too.  Pre-covid we did a NYE and it was champagne at embarkation and sail away.  We had formal/cruise elegant night on NYE with noise makers and such on the tables.  There was a party that started in the lobby and moved to the lido for midnight.  It was a lot of fun.

Bonus is the Christmas decorations were still up and the ships are always decorated very nicely for Christmas.  There were no Christmas shows or activities though, and the decorations came down during the cruise.

Only thing I'm dreading is Grand Cayman the next morning with early excursions.

Awesome to hear you'll be on this sailing as well!  I saw that we would be in Grand Cayman very early the next morning.  I guess we can drag ourselves out of bed or maybe just celebrate all night and not go to bed.....

What are some of the excursions in the ports you have planned?  Having a hard time deciding this year.

Has anyone been to Tropicante lately?

I have been there pre COVID and just wondering how it is now that Steve is not there.

What happened to Steve?  Does he not own the Tropicante any longer?

I always emailed him to reserve us loungers!

  12. I will be sailing on the Pride (first time on the Pride) on Dec. 30 with 8 other people.  This is my first cruise since Feb., 2020 (pre-covid).

Lots has changed since that Feb., 2020 cruise - lost my husband of 29 years to Covid in February, 2021 and it's been a hard road.

I'm really looking forward to this cruise, especially since it's going to be New Year's.  Tell me what we should expect as far as

New Year's Eve celebrations that go on.  We board on Friday and New Year's Eve will be on Saturday.

    Thanks in advance!
