Jacqueline, I saw a post from a while ago where you asked about leaving the ship in Venice after you have embarked. Was it easy to check in and then go and explore Venice? We were planning on doing the same thing.
Thanks
Shellie

Good luck! Tell him it can be your birthday, Christmas & anniversary present combined - all wrapped up in one neat package with a giant bow! :)
Persistence paid off. After continually checking on prices and a lot of saving we booked a b2b on Splendour. We leave in 6 more sleeps! I have used your review as a basis for our research. I can't wait :D

Does anyone have a photo of the double sofa bed they can post please.
-
Thanks for responding Jacqueline. In the past when we have had a sofa bed and Pullman the sofa was very small. Are there different size sofa beds on board? I don't think the ones we have had would fit 2 people, even if they were kids.
I am glad I realised now and not once on board. I'll prewarn the kids and not let it negatively impact our holiday. It is a port intensive cruise so We won't be spending to much time in the cabin.

We are sailing in cabin 7118 on Splendour in a couple of weeks. It is a Superior Oceanview Stateroom. I am not sure what made me think of it but I just googled the cabin and some sites state it is for 3 guests only. We are 4 guests, 2 adults and 2 children.
Does anyone know if this cabin has a sofa bed and a Pullman (this is what we have had in the past when booking for 4 guests)?
If it only has a sofa, is it big enough for 2 people? The ship is now showing as fully booked and we are on b2b in this stateroom.
I am now worried about the kids sleeping in the same bed for the 2 cruises.
I will ring RCI on Monday but I thought so done on CC would know the answer.

I'm enjoying your review but I am anxious for you to finish! We leave on the 1st November for our Med cruise on Splendour and I am enjoying reading all the reviews and getting hints and tips along the way. Do you think you will finish in the next 2 weeks. Cheeky, I know :p

I'm looking forward to following your review. We are sailing Splendour in the Med next month.

Hi Melissa,
I have enjoyed reading your review, thank you for posting. We are heading to the med next month and will be cruising b2b on Splendour of the Seas. My husband and I have enjoyed reading about the ports we will be visiting too and helping us get excited about our trip.
I cant wait to read about Dubrovnik and see your photo's.

We book balconies with pullman and sofa for our family of 4. My son goes up in the pullman and my daughter sleeps on the sofa bed. She is still short enough that we do not pull the sofa bed out fully so we have a path to the toilet. I think this cruise she may be sleeping on a diagonal - lol! I do not think you could sleep 2 adults on the sofa bed comfortably. Maybe consider an inside cabin too.

Not so good if you live in Australia. I looked today and prices have dropped $1000 for the same cabin category for our med cruise. We have not made final payment yet so I rang RCI and asked if they would honour the price drop. The answer was no. We are still 93 days from sailing but they said we would have to cancel and rebook. The kicker is we would lose our $1600 deposit.
I guess the same rules don't apply across the water :(
I'll stop looking at prices now and continue to get excited about our big trip.

Wow, how long are you classed as a newbie on CC? You have 3,300 more posts than I do and I didn't think I was new any more!!
I think it is perfectly acceptable to wear jeans to the MDR but many don't (as I am sure you will find out by the posts to follow). I wouldn't wear jeans on formal night though.

Nothing like sinning whilst on a cruise.;)
I think it is sad they no longer sing. If I think back to our first couple of cruises we enjoyed that experience. Now, not so much. It is a shame for the newbies.

Congratulations on the upgrade and enjoy your cruise!
I'm still patiently waiting for an upgrade :p

Go for it. :D:D
We did 33 nights circumnavigating Australia and it was fantastic. Prior to that our longest was 14 nights too. I was ready to go home at the end but really felt relaxed and ready for life again. :p

Our kids have used AO many times and love it. Day One it is usually open for sign up only. You get to go and check out the area with the kids, meet the staff and fill in the paperwork. This is the only time adults are allowed in the AO area.
The staff will greet you when you board the ship and let you know the sign up times and give you the day 1 kids compass. They will also give your child a wrist band with their muster station on it. Don't worry if you miss this as they will also check at Muster demo to ensure all children have the band. I find the band a bit annoying for photo's but understand the importance if there is an emergency.
Happy Cruising.

Although we are not on your sailing we will be cruising the med in November with our 9 year olds. We usually cruise during school time and have always had a few kids on board and the kids have always enjoyed themselves.
Enjoy your cruise!

Although Adventure Ocean doesn't open until 7pm they do have the option for Adventure Dining. I think it is 5.30 - 7pm. It will be listed on the kids cruise compass. You will be fine to enjoy your Mystery Dinner.

We are heading to the Med in November. Eagerly awaiting your review.

Thank you for the information. We were going to disable the cards also. A trip to Guest Services will be in order.

You misread the post. The parent was by the pool, was "attending" the child, and encouraged (did not discourage) the child in the behavior that resulted in the injury. A bystander had to inform the parent that the child was bleeding.
The medical team worked out well, though...
No, I didn't misread the post. I said upfront 'Thankfully you were there' to the OP. As a parent myself I am not perfect and am not going to judge the OP.
-
Thanks for sharing your story. Thankfully you were by the pool. It highlights why we should never leave our young ones unattended by the pool.
It sounds like you had fabulous service by the RCI medical team. I am glad your DD is recovered well.

Thank you all for your replies. I have sent an email to Ephesus Deluxe and am awaiting their reply.
I had emailed Private Ephesus Tours and they have advised that they will stop at a factory 'because they support us' even though I requested not to do a shopping stop. It makes me worried as I am not sure how we will cope under sales pressure or how I will feel being 'locked in' as some reviewers have described it. The ships tours also stop at a rug factory. Maybe there is no way around it.

We used Ephusus Deluxe on our tour. Check out my blog with pictures at

Thank you for the link to your blog. I am enjoying reading about the stops we will be visiting!

Hello,
We usually take ship excursions and for the first time I am researching a private excursion. We will be travelling with our 9 year old children and want the flexibility of a private tour. Our planned itinerary is House of Virgin Mary, Ancient Ephesus (including terrace houses) and Temple of Artemis.
Does anyone have a recent review or recommendation of a private tour from Kusadasi? Were you made to go to a rug/leather/pottery demonstration?
Thanks
Shellie
