  1. Huh?

    Tool

    Tool: (noun)

1.) A guy with a hugely over-inflated ego, who in an attempt to get un-due attention for himself, will act like a *******, because, in his deluded state, he will think it's going to make him look cool, or make others want to be like him. The person mayeven insincerely apologize later on, but only in an attempt to get more attention, or to excuse his blatantly intentional, and unrepentantly tool-ish behavior.

2.) Someone whose ego FAR exceeds his talent, intelligence, and likeability. But, of course, he is clueless regarding that fact. He erroneously thinks he is THE MAN!

3.) Someone who others normally refer to as a prick, dick, or schmuck.

4.) Someone who acts like a dick, because...well...he's compensating.

    5.) Kanye West

  2. If you choose self-help, then we dance.

Top Ten Warning Signs You Are A Dbag Tool:

    10. You tell people online you weigh 240 lbs, all muscle.

    9. Your wife actually weighs 240 lbs, all muscle.

    8. You spend 45+ minutes of cruise time waiting to see if an old lady using the bathroom is coming back.

    7. You repeat #8 over and over until someone doesn't come back.

    6. You create your own abbreviations using syllables instead of word breaks.

    5. You consciously think about the fact that if someone hits you first you "get" to hit them back.

    4. Your life peaked during high school football in the 80's. Substitute hockey if Canadian.

    3. You use the term "chirpy" to describe the words of anyone disagreeing with you.

    2. You refer to yourself as the "biggest, baddest" man.

    1. You refer to fighting as "dancing"

  3.

Aside from our arrival at the port and boarding the Escape, our big concern is how are we going to keep track of the Nebraska vs. Wisconsin game tonight. (And by "our concern," I mean Huskerchick's. Her screen name comes from the University of Nebraska Cornhuskers. To say she's a fan is putting it lightly. Nebraska's season did not start out well, and they have two tough games this week and next: Wisconsin and Ohio State. In case you were wondering, yes, she has a corn head. No, she's not taking it on the cruise - although it would make an excellent flotation device. I have no doubt that one of her roughly 280 Husker's shirts will make an appearance. Poohby Joe is wearing his already.)

On a cruise with no way to track our Husker games is probably the best way for Huskers like your wife, and me, to follow the team. Just getting started on this trip report in preparation for upcoming family voyage about Escape.....LOVING IT so far!!!

  4. Just an FYI: NCL's new dock in Belize called Harvest Caye is gorgeous! I've visited Belize several times, and was thrilled when they opened their own area. Belize with NCL is now a good stop. On other lines, you still dock near Belize City. My advice there, is to have an excursion booked in advance.

Pretty much sold wife on the changes with the pics from Harvest Caye, looks perfect!

  5. Ummm - isn't "Mad Dogs" a TV show?!? I doubt I'd be pre-judging a place based on a ficational TV show...

We we supposed to be doing the Eastern, then the Western as B2B in November. We haven't heard details of what will happen - but I guess we'll just have to wait and see what options there are...

Yeah it's an Amazon Original Series, I think the joke is probably lost on those who haven't seen it :)

  6. You can cancel anytime b4 final payment!!

We sail in October so our itinerary has changed. I picked this cruise for the ship (escape) and Tortola! I definitely do not want to do that itinerary now!! We did western for the 2nd time last winter and loved it! I am a water person so we search out beaches with shade and people watch and read. Already have our ports planned without paying for any excursions, just taxis!!

I had ended up with similar plan after researching excursions....I would prefer the Jamaica/Cayman stops from the only other Western Itin I've done, but will try to make the best of it by checking 3 new ports off my list of places visited. It could have been worse, I was debating between the cruise and a trip directly to St. Maarten. Feel awful for the people on the islands and upset to lose some of my favorite vacation spots. I recall tours mentioning damage from hurricanes decades ago which makes me think it will take a very very long time to fully recover. So will make the best of things realizing a western instead of eastern itin is a "first world problem" :)

  7. Cruise is Dec 9th. Final payment was due just before the hurricanes hit. Didn't matter, I was paying and going anyway. Wife was interested in cancellation options. Good to hear at least some good things about the ports, I've done Western before, but it was Jamaica-Cayman-Cozumel, so if nothing else kids and I are happy to add 3 new ports to our resumes.

  8. Makes sense. I wasn't sure if they would be making any special arrangements given the magnitude of the change.

Obviously skipping a windy port is understandable, but a wholesale change to the entire itinerary seems to be a situation where I could envision them potentially offering more flexibility as a customer service gesture. Similar to what the airlines and AirBNB did under their "extenuating circumstances policy.

I'm expecting and planning to go on the cruise regardless of ports. Final payment has been made and it was a very good deal, even if it becomes a western Caribbean cruise.

  9. I have cruised the past 2 years in this exact same situation---except that my wife didn't change name, and I have same last name as kids....to be safe we completed the following form:

    http://***************/permission_ltr.htm

and had a friend who is a notary do the seal thing for us. They did not ask for it either trip.

Good luck and have a great cruise.....I hope your kids are better at babysitting you than mine are at babysitting me! ;)

    Edit:

Looks like the link to the letter won't post:

  10. OBC will automatically show up on your folio. You can probably avoid giving them a credit card in the terminal, but for me that is fine. I just look at it as back up. You can access your OBC at the Casino for a 3% fee, which I don't feel is worth it... just bring lots of cash.

Thanks!!! agree with you---bringing cash......just wanted to see if that is an option to grab last $100 or so on final day without waiting in line, waiting for check to be mailed.

  11. Going on NCL Escape in 2 weeks and have pre-purchased $1,000 onboard credit certificates. I have also pre-paid all service charges, drink packages, etc.

    A few questions:

#1 Are the onboard credit certificates automatically credited to the bill----receipt shows "1st day in room" delivery, so I'm wondering if I have to take a physical certificate to the front desk to apply the credits. If so is the credit applied immediately.....or would I need some other deposit option to be able to make charges?

#2 Am I correct to assume that at check-in at the terminal, I can avoid putting a credit card down by telling them I have pre-paid everything and pre-purchased the $1,000 OBC---is this true? Or will I be required to make some CC hold or minimum cash deposit?

#3 Will I be able to access the OBC via the casino? Either via cage, or as I was able to do last year....directly via download to Video Poker machines? Also, is there a fee for doing so? I believe last year I was able to do this up to a certain amount without a fee. I'm bringing cash for gambling, but was thinking this would be an easy "no-line waiting" way to pull out any remaining cash at the end of the cruise.

My current plan for this cruise is to put maybe $200 cash down at the cruise terminal just in case the onboard credit takes a little time to cover any first day expenses.....rely on the $1,000 OBC to cover any addiitional expenses for the balance of the cruise----ie...souvenier, last-minute specialty dining or excursions, etc. Then on the final day, hit up the casino to auto-cash out my remaining balance to avoid awaiting some check from NCL for the balance.

Thanks in advance for answers to above questions and comments on the "plan"!!! :)

  12. I rec'd an email today offering up to $500 on-board credit on select dates. I checked my previously reserved cruise on NCL and it shows two offers ending this week:

Dash Onboard Credit: Receive up to $500 extra onboard credit based on stateroom category. Offer ends this week.

Holiday Cruises Onboard Credit: Book today and automatically get up to an extra $700 onboard credit on 2015 Holiday Sailings. Offer ends this week.

My sailing is December 13-20 Western Caribbean on Norwegian Getaway from Miami, in an M6 Mini-Suite, booked via NCL Casino at Sea, on an upgraded comp offer from Rivers Casino. I have paid the outstanding charges for upgrades, taxes, excursions, dining, etc already. I am in the 75-56 day period before my cruise.

My question is, will they allow me to add this promotion/rebook under it? Any advice for asking for this when I call? Would like to go in knowing the "right things to say" if there are any, and if that makes any difference. I suspect its a cut and dried situation, but thought I'd ask the experienced cruisers here, just to cover all my bases.

    Thanks in advance!

  13. Sorry to hear that..... might mean one less legendary LV trip report ;-)

What ship/date? I assume you got one of the SWA special fares?

Haha.....yes it probably will result in one less Vegas excursion!

Well.....I always say that, but it never does. ;) My VIMFP trip is in jeopardy due to Father-Daughter Dance, so my VMB countdown is 50/50 at best.

NCL Getaway, 7-night Western Caribbean, 12/13-12/20. Insane Flight---RT on United from ORD-FLL $126.20. Freaking Round TRIP!!!

I like United cause the Economy Plus is EZ.....I'm almost to Premier Gold and then I'll be able to book it at reservation instead of 24 hrs before, although its rarely not available at check in.

  14. Thanks guys--

I was able to contact Rivers via their facebook page, they called NCL and corrected some error, and I was able to call today and reserve. I was anxious to do it quickly as cabins were filling and cheap flights were available....got exactly what i wanted (mini suite with large balcony, the last one with bed on balcony side) and flights were insanely cheap.

  15. Howdy neighbor! :D Sorry I can't help with the voucher, I would call Rivers customer service and find out what the code is supposed to be. Let them know the problem you're having trying to book!

Thanks for responding Sauer-kraut---yep first thing I did after getting off the line was call Rivers---they sent me to voicemail.....no return phone call. Guess I'll give it a couple days before I give up. Would like to take advantage of great airfares though.

  16. So I went to my local Rivers casino in Des Plaines and waited in line and picked up a free cruise for 2 voucher on Sunday. Well, wouldn't ya know it, I call the number on the voucher and NCL has no record of me, there is no "code" or whatever they need on the voucher.

Anyone else ever have a similar experience? The Casino took my ID and recorded my check-in, and gave me the voucher as well as a drawing entry for free airfare, onboard credit, etc.

Anyone have any clue how this thing works???
