  1. It's my belief, and according to the Carnival web site, Cruise Critic, etc. that May 1st is the first time ever launch date.

I have a friend who is insisting that the Vista has sailed out of NYC and Florida before going to Italy. That she has friends who have sailed on it. Is this possible? I'm having a hard time believing this due to all the publicity, etc. regarding all the brand new cabins design, e.g., Havana cabin area, family rooms, etc. and all the entertainment items. I've also searched the internet trying to determine if this is fact.

From when I've been seeing on JH's videos, it showed the step by step construction at the Italian shipyard this past year or so. Regardless, I am so looking forward to being on this magnificent ship on June 3rd. Of course, with my sense of direction, it will take me several days to find my way back to the cabin without looking at a map.

  2. From reading the blog, its my understanding a couch is not in an inside cabin; however am now wondering if there is a refrigerator in an inside cabin on the Vista. I looked at the various photos, videos, etc. of the many cabin layouts and did not spot one.

I can always make do with an ice bucket but thought so its a new ship, a refrigerator would be available. Any thoughts?

  3. The previous thread was getting a tad too long. Question: Do you think the servers will get upset (have a cow, etc.) if I brought my own flavored tea to Tea Time? I'll just ask the for hot water.

I love Carnival but the cheese-paring is getting to be ridiculous.

  4. When I booked my February 2016 cruise on the Conquest last Saturday, 05/30, I was told that boarding times were between 1:30-3:00 PM. I had to call Carnival to book the cruise because the web site was malfunctioning and I wanted to make sure I booked the cruise with the $50/pp deposit (I always book a cruise on line). I'm also going to be sent an email and/or text prior to the cruise as a reminder. I can see the problem if you fly in the same day but because I'm in the Southwest, I always fly in a day early. Don't want to wave goodbye to my ship.

  5. Thanks to all of you for the input on NZ beaches. It's cold and a bit snowy in ABQ so am looking forward to the long journey to Australia and New Zealand. Greetings to my fellow New Mexican. Er....I'm originally from NYC but have been living in NM for 23 yrs. Happy Holidays.

  6. Are there any beaches near any of the cruise ports in New Zealand? Am cruising on January 25th and going to Auckland, Picton, Tauranga, Rotorua (more ports but can't remember). I know NZ is cooler than Australia but I would like to have at least one beach day, if its doable. I did look at the ship's excursions but its kayaking, surfing, white water rafting, etc. I just like a lazy day on the sand.

  7. We fly Jet Blue red eye to JFK and arrive around 6:00 AM. I was wondering what we were going to do with our luggage until 1 PM when we head for the cruise ship. We usually take the LIRR to Penn Station so its just a short walk to the Schwartz Luggage Storage location on 36th Street. I sincerely appreciate the info you provided....happy...happy!

  8. Easiest way to get to JFK is via the Long Island RR out of Penn Station. I'm sailing in October and plan to get a taxi to Penn Station from the cruise terminal for maybe $15 then pay maybe ~$7 on the LIRR. One stop only - 34th Street to the Jamaica Station within 25 min. Don't know what's doable for LGA.

  9. Was on the Miracle for NYE and there was only one line dancing class offered on the last sea day of the cruise. It was in the Atrium and it was packed. I sailed on another cruise line and line dancing classes were offered by the cruise director assistant personnel almost every day even while in port. These classes are a lot of fun and instructional. Helps you to know the dance steps so you can dance the night away on the Lido deck. They are only 30 minutes so it is doable just like the trivia contests.

  10. No you do not have to have passports. The only problem would be if you had to fly back from any of the ports(other than Florida). If you missed the ship, were ill or injured and had to be detained, etc.. The new passport regulations are very confusing. You do not need them for cruises until June 2008 unless your departure port is not in the US, i.e. San Juan.

Er...Mary Ann, I hope you do not mean San Juan, Puerto Rico.... Puerto Rico is a Commonwealth of the US and you do not need a passport. People born there are American citizens.
