  1. UPDATE: I followed the recommendation to try the Kotor Cable Car Shuttle Service above. I completed the online form and was contacted a few days later to confirm the booking. I re-confirmed closer to the date by way of reminder and got a prompt reply. Our driver, Novak, was waiting for us as expected near the port. He drove us to the cable car station, bought the tickets and escorted us to the entry gate. He waited in the cafe at the bottom while we took our journey to the top of the mountain. The views were spectacular both on the cable car ride and at the top. We took a ride on the rollercoaster too. Don’t expect a thrill ride but it was fun for an extra 7 Euros. There is also a restaurant, gift shop, kids’ playground and toilets at the top. On our return the driver took us through the mountains and stopped at a viewpoint overlooking the bay for more photos. We were dropped back at the port car park and paid in cash at the end. Do check if they take card payment though (which we didn’t!) as I think the driver had a card reader. It was definitely worth doing this trip and there was time for a wander round the old town afterwards.
  2. Thanks for the advice re rental cars Hank. That wouldn’t have even crossed my mind. Still in two minds about doing the cable car or perhaps using public transport to Perast but we could probably do both with a car. 😁
  3. Has anyone been on the cable car near Kotor? If so, did you take a taxi to the base station in Dub or is there a local bus that goes there? If you took a taxi, do you recall how much it cost and will it wait for you to do a round trip on the cable car? We’ve been to Kotor before and looking for something a little different. So far, I can’t see anything on here that refers to the cable car. Thanks!
  4. From Greenock both are doable by train but you would obviously have more time to explore Glasgow. I don’t think you can go direct from Greenock to Edinburgh and would have to change trains in Glasgow to get to Edinburgh. We have done this stop twice (in 2021) one being overnight which obviously gives more options. The first time we didn’t have a lot of time but got the train to Glasgow and did the HOHO bus tour which was excellent. The next time we went to Balloch for Loch Lomond via Glasgow on the train and did a boat trip on the loch once there. The next day we again headed to Glasgow and did a tour of the West End - university area, Kelvingrove Art Gallery & Museum, etc - using the metro system affectionately known as the clockwork orange! If you plan to do something independently there are various options once you get to Glasgow. By the way, there are 2 train stations in Glasgow. The train from Greenock stops at Central but you might need to go to Queen Street if you want to go farther away including Edinburgh but they are only about a 10 minute walk apart.
