  1. We can't wait to join you next week in NYC. Now I really need to get our packing sorted out.....winter clothes for New York, and summer clothes for Hawaii and Australia!

Thanks for all the work you have done on the lists, Kathi.....I am looking forward to meeting the other knitters on the trip.

  2. We played the pub trivia on our Hawaii/Tahiti trip .....the jd ran it in the crows nest at 6:15, I think. It consisted of 10 fairly standard trivia questions followed by 5 musical clues....we had to identify the name of the song and the singer/group. Our foursome did pretty well on the first part and disastrously on the second! One team won fairly consistently, knowing the correct names of '80's and '90's pop song we had never heard of. Finally he confessed to having spent a few years working as a bouncer at a club and being forced to listen to all those songs over and over.

We all had a great time, and at the end several of the winners shared their champagne winnings with us.

  3. Personally, I have been delighted to read answers to all the questions, the one I understood and the other interpretations! They have all given me new info.

I loved Barcelona.....so happy a cruise just happened to finish there. We spent 3 days and loved it before taking the train to Cordoba and Madrid. As for a port for embarkation, we like San Diego.....such a lovely, easy city to visit and walk along the waterfront.

Having lived near NYC, we would never think of it as a favorite....but I guess that is always how it is with your "hometown." I grew up in Niagara Falls and as a kid we only visited the Falls when out of town visitors came to admire it. Now I realize how much we took it for granted.

I hope people keep adding to the lists!

  4. I bring home a piece of jewelry from every trip, not every port. Sometimes it is good jewelry, like the black pearl earrings from Tahiti, but more often it something I can wear everyday, like a pretty glass bead on a chain from Finland. That way, I think of and remember the fun of Helsinki every time I wear it.

I especially like to shop in museum shops..... They often carry unusual things by local artists and any profit goes to the good cause of keeping museums going.
