Aboard the Conquest last year, everyone in the mid-ship MDR who had YTD was on the lower level, early & late diners were on the upper. We did have sea day brunch in the aft MDR. It was a nice change of scenery. :)
On the Dream we had Brunch in the Mid Ship dining room. I agree, I enjoyed the change as well!

That is almost the exact same thing we did on our first cruise which was also a back to back (on the Liberty). The only difference was we went to Half Moon Cay instead of Amber Cove.
Cozumel - DH and BIL went on a deep sea fishing excursion (didn't catch anything but enjoyed it)
SIL and I went to Paradise Beach. It's inexpensive and a nice beach/pool day
Roatan - Carnival owned pier with a shopping area and beach right there you can use for free, which we did. (Love it there!)
Belize - Walked around and shopped. Nothing too exciting.
Grand Cayman - Private Stingray Excursion. Lots of fun, we all loved it. I think we used Captain Marvins?
San Juan - We got off the ship and hopped on a tour bus for $10 per person and showed us around.
St Thomas - Went on a private shopping/tour of the island. We have used both Sunny Liston and Godfrey Tours. Both are basically the same but Sunny Liston is much livelier (louder!)
Grand Turk - Another Carnival owned pier where there is plenty to do there without taking an excursion.
I don't know what you're interested in doing, but that's what we did on our first Caribbean Cruise to give you an idea. Hope it helps somewhat.

People seem to be making much more big of a deal over the steakhouse selections than should be made. It's simply an option they are offering if you choose to purchase a meal from the steakhouse without actually going there. It doesn't really affect the rest of the menu.

I've been in the aft dining room every cruise to date. We have never used Your Time Dining and have always had either Early or Late Dining. It seems to me, at least on the ships we've been on, that YTD was always in the mid ship dining room. I'm not sure if the whole dining room was used for it or just one level. On the Miracle there is only one dining room and I believe they used the upper level for YTD and the lower for early and late.

On the magic it eas on the tv for the entire curise so you could look ahead at plan which nights you wish to eat elsewhere. Not on Magic.
:') So which one is it?
It's been on the TV for every cruise I've been on so far, but I haven't been on the Magic.. YET. I would love to be able to see the whole week's menus to make decisions!

If we have pre purchased Cruise Cash, would that be considered the same as having put on a cash deposit? In other words, we will not have to put anything extra on our account? I would assume this to be the case, but just want to confirm. We've always just used our credit card, but some first time cruisers coming with us want to do this.

What ship? They can do it. Ask one of the photogs the first day the best place for a large group picture.
Our large groups have been on the Fantasy Class ships at the Atrium staircase. At times the Photog has had to go upstairs to shoot.

There will be 16 of us on our upcoming cruise and we are hoping to have a group photo taken on elegant night. Is it possible for them to do a photo with this many people or would we have to book something special?

Their parents can choose to grant charging privileges to their kids who are in a different room when they are doing their online check in.

There are bars on the promenade deck, but I don't think there are any free beverage stations like the lemonade and iced tea.

Thanks for the menus.
Is it normal for warm chocolate melting cake to be "for the table"? That seems a little... odd.

I always bring a couple of cardigans or shawls just in case. I usually find it chilly.

I don't think my post was really a complaint so much as an observation. I never went on Carnival before the fried chicken but I wouldn't have complained about it being added. I have the opposite problem as my kids. I see multiple items every night that I want to try. I know I can order multiple but don't really want to be a glutton. LOL
I wasn't meaning that you specifically were complaining. Sorry if it came across that way. It was more of a general statement.

I'm a picky eater, as is my son, and we weren't disappointed at all with the MDR menu. Even if we repeated the grilled chicken or flat iron steak more than once, it was fine with us because both of us thought both items tasted great. I guess our pallets aren't as refined as everyone else in this thread. Just like you said, there is something for everyone on a cruise.
We've only been on one so far and just recently booked our second, so we haven't been around long enough to see any of the changes in recent years. I think that's part of it. When you've been around something long enough and enjoy it, you hate to see anything change. Whereas we're new to it and most of it seems pretty dang good to us. Maybe we'll feel differently in 5-10 years, but if it gets that bad, it's simple...we'll stop cruising. Or at least stop cruising Carnival. It's funny that people complained when the fried chicken was put on the menu and now they complain about it being taken away. I guess people are going to complain no matter what. And not just about the food. The food, the shows, the perks (or lack thereof), the service, you name it. It's a bit shocking to see how many people complain about Carnival on here. I was telling my wife about it the other day and she said, "That's fine, it'll be less crowded for us on the ship." :D
If there's anything I have learned from the internet, it's that people LOVE to complain!

Got an email from the Maitre D' and it is 2 and 6 as a couple had noted above. Thanks so much for everyone's help!

We are also doing this itinerary this summer and this is what I was told as well.

I admit this isn't very helpful to your question but I find if funny that people are looking for the fried chicken and upset that it's not on the every day menu any more. When it was first added, there was major backlash about how low class that is for them to have *gasp* FRIED CHICKEN *gasp* heaven forbid!!! on a cruise ship menu! (I never saw a problem with it.) I'm sure your kids will find something they enjoy. And like you said, there's always pizza! There's something for everyone!

I loved the funghi pizza at the pizza pirate, but does the pizzeria del capitano make that as well?

Yes, it's the same.

Is there only one seating per cruise, or do you have different times to choose from?

We missed Kona on our Hawaii cruise due to it being too rough to tender. This was January 2014.
We had our port order rearranged in the Eastern Caribbean due to a Hurricane. We didn't miss any, just a different order. It wasn't a big deal. We even had some non-Carnival excursions booked and they knew about it ahead of time and had it taken care of before we even contacted them. August 2014.

Quattro formaggio pizza from pizza pirate
Pork or chicken tacos from blue iguana
Key lime pie from buffet first day
Huevos rancheros sea day brunch
The buffet cookies! Yum
Everything I have tried in the steakhouse has been delicious.
All of the soups I've tried in the MDR were excellent.
Guys burgers of course. Goes without saying.

The Steakhouse is absolutely worth it.

I see... closer airport. Either way, we wouldn't have made that flight. We sat around on the ship for HOURS waiting to get off. Customs was on some kind of rampage I think. We didn't disembark until after 11am and didn't get through customs until at least an hour later. I've been on 5 cruises so far and have had issues on two of them being late on the last day for different reasons. In my experience, I wouldn't take the chance.
-
No way in hell I would book that flight. We had a 1:30 flight out of LAX once and almost missed it. We literally made it with 2 minutes to spare. Long Beach Port was an absolute nightmare both embarking and debarking. You might make it, you probably will (if nothing goes wrong and customs doesn't decide to take 5 hours to clear everyone) but I would never take that chance.

I always place my shampoo and conditioner bottles on top of the dispensers they have with their shampoo and shower gel. They stay there okay.

My husband didn't want anything to do with the stingrays so he just stayed on the catamaran. He still enjoyed the excursion, he just watched everyone with the stingrays from the boat.
